  1. I have to install skype and what’sapp on my home PC for local security purposes. Could someone please advise whether Kaspersky has any specific recommendations for the settings of these apps to afford maximum security? I Run Win 8.1 and Kaspersky Total Security 2018 Thank you.
  2. Sorry-- I am no fundi... so bear with me please-- thank you. I have KIS 2017-- version 17.0.611 (e) and OS Windows 8.1. I paused KIS a few days ago and after that, automatic updates stopped-- Receive KIS notification "updates outdated'. Clicked on settings to fix automatic updates problem-- set on default settings. However, although I keep KIS passwords safe-- KIS reported settings password as "password invalid". As there is no 'forgot password' option in the settings window, have not been able to reset. Not able to find a solution, I submitted a query to Support on 19 Jun 2017, which I copied below and hope is acceptable practice to do here-- Tried to set out answers to points asked for by Support as follows (edited slightly, to improve clarity):- " 1) I don't know. I surmise that pause action of mine, stopped "update automatically" function and naturally, wanted to restore it ASAP. However, although had my passwords at hand, when, the KIS application would not accept the computer's master password, which I created on 11 March 2017, I felt confused and in desperation tried all KIS passwords but not any passwords was accepted: "password invalid." Neither did KIS app accept my online master password, which had been created on the same date as my computer's master password. I even tried to submit my newly installed Password Manager password, but it too resulted in "password invalid"-- Fortunately had the option to manually update KIS, which I have been doing ever since the problem appeared. FYI:- When I renewed KL anti-virus this year, I inadvertently purchased Kaspersky Internet Security Multi-Device 2017, instead of Kaspersky Total Security 2017-- which is my preferred Kaspersky package and have purchased it annually for the last three years. KIS Multi-Device does not include the Password Manager app and although I installed the free version, it is limited and have not enjoyed it but at this point, cannot afford to purchase the full PM version. 2) To solve the password problem, I tried following the instructions in KL knowledge base [could not attach screenshot here, as not permitted] -- but it seemed I would have to reset my computer and really had no wish to follow this route, if perhaps there is a simpler way to restore my KIS application settings password. 3) KIS notification appeared on the desktop, that my PC update data was outdated and have been manually updating KIS application daily, repeating it a number of times throughout the day." [end quote] I saved and submitted the support query above and it was accepted. Support advised query response would be mailed to my email address. However, has not received any mail from Support to date. Can you perhaps assist to sort out settings password hitch in a simpler way than starting up windows in safe mode? I operate a Packard Bell Easynote notebook. I even considered uninstalling Kaspersky Internet Security, and reinstalling it-- as I was sure all current passwords would be deleted and I'd have the option to start over with new passwords. Not wishing to waste your time-- I feel a bit intimidated by Kaspersky Lab Forum-- because I am a self taught PC operator and in my seventies-- So a bit out of my depth, but nonetheless, hugely grateful that the forum exists!
  3. Sorry-- the above issue does not apply to my problem. I am no fundi... so bear with me please. I have KIS 2017-- version 17.0.611 (e) and run windows 8.1. I paused KIS and after that automatic updates stopped-- KIS notification "updates out of date'. Clicked on settings to fix problem-- generally set on default settings. However, although I keep my KIS passwords safe-- KIS reported settings password as "password invalid". There is no 'forgot password' option in the settings window, so have not been able to reset. 4. I have 2 Questions: Kaspersky PURE 3.0 Total Security 1) Explanation: After startup and MS windows login, Kaspersky PC password login window appears automatically. This morning it did not launch and I could not open password manager even when I launched Kaspersky app. I clicked support and after signing in with my Kaspersky master password (different to my PC login password) and enabled trace, which ran a report on Windows OS, which I logged and saved. Then tried launching password manager again, but it would not launch. I am concerned that security of my login password may have been compromised. When I turn off my computer at night, I normally turn off the wi-fi and don't normally logout of Kaspersky. When I startup, I turn on wi-fi and shortly after Kaspersky password manager appears and I sign in. This morning password manager did not prompt me to sign in. Question: Is it possible that password manager did not logout when I turned off the PC last night? 2) Explanation: Yandex is my default browser and my mail, disk and online passwords such as disqus, RT, Sputniknews are all synced in Yandex. Sometimes a password was changed or had not been saved to Yandex sync. Clicking on settings advanced settings and manage passwords, on finding password I seek, click on it to show password. However, a Yandex windows opens prompting me to login to my Windows startup login password -- almost as if the Windows login password controls all the passwords on my PC. I would prefer this password to be a Kaspersky password overriding my Windows login password. Question: Can I replace the Windows login password to a Kaspersky password, so that in Yandex manage password settings, I sign in with a Kaspersky password?
