Encryption and decryption on removable drives [In progress]

8 posts in this topic

Hello,

My network is using;

- KAS Admin Server 10.2.434

- KES 10 SP1 MP2 (Application version: 10.2.5.3201 (mr2, mr3))

- Agent 10.2.434

I just configure the encryption for removal drives as follow (no encyption for hard drives):

- Encryption of removable drive = Encryption all files

- "Portable mode" = enable

- "Allow removable drive encryption in offline mode" = disable (uncheck)

When I use the memory stick, I am enable "Encrypt files" and I copy data to memory stick properly. It means files on memory stick are encrypted. That's ok.

But, when I copy these encrypted files on memory stick back to my PC, the files are not decrypted. I think this is wrong and I want they are decrypted automatically when I copy them back to my PC.

Could you please show me how to do this?

Thank you,

Hello!

The files on a USB stick will be decrypted, but onle if you decrypt them in advance, when you plug the stick and choose decrypt in the pop up window.

Thanks!

There is no pop-up windows to allow you decrypting the USB. Just 02 options: Encrypt or Do not Encrypt.

Thank you!

Dear Sirs,

Please see my first post

"When I use the memory stick, I am enable "Encrypt files" and I copy data to memory stick properly. It means files on memory stick are encrypted. That's ok.

In this case, I can not use Portable file manager. The PC with KES cannot run PMV, you know.

Thanks and Regards,

Could you please confirm that this issue reoccurs if "Portable mode" is disabled?

Thank you!

No, Portable mode = Enabled.

However, Portable mode ONLY WORKs on PCs WITHOUT KES installed.

Thanks,

Hello!

Please collect the traces of KES while reproducing the issue.

Thanks!
