Kaspersky 50% off purchase legit or a phishing site?

Recommended Posts

I found this website where you can purchase Kaspersky at an incredibly low price. However, the products offered (such as Total Security for 10 devices), are not found on the official Kaspersky site. Also, it says you can buy Kaspersky for 5 devices for merely $49.99.

I would like to know if this is legit or a phishing site. If it's the latter, please help me find out if I was exposed to any virusses/malware by entering the site.

Yes that is the official United States website.

https://usa.kaspersky.com/

BUT if you are NOT in the United States, do NOT buy it from there as Kaspersky license 'keys' are region (country) locked.

They need to be purchased and activated in the same country. AFAIK.

Regional restriction doesn't mean "country locked" ...

Also, if a regional restriction appear during the activation process Kaspersky Lab will of course  eliminate the problem.

So does that mean I can get my Kaspersky Total Security from the USA site if I live in The Netherlands and am going to use it in The Netherlands?

Is there any chance that Kaspersky works more optimally if I download it from my own country? I.e. maybe it is designed that way to scan for more threats prevalent in your own country?

Since I don't know anything about these stuff, I probably wouldn't find out if it is working optimally or not after I purchase the USA version so trying to be sure of it before I purchase it. :)

The Kaspersky detection technology is not designed by country, the product is protecting your system  against any malware regardless the country of origin.

I knew that wasn't true, I was just quoting Kaspersky - "region (country)" -  They use that exact wording on every help page that I find for "Activation error. Activation code is invalid for this region"

Apparently I can not register from Europe (using the USA site). Also when I enter that site, sometimes I can't because it says the site is not secure.

Edit:

I found an even better deal on amazon.co.uk by Kaspersky Lab: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Kaspersky-Total-Security-Devices-Android/dp/B01LEI1BKE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1503163420&sr=8-1&keywords=kaspersky%2Btotal%2Bsecurity%2Bmulti%2Bdevice&th=1

10 devices for 26 pounds. Can someone confirm to me that this can be used in The Netherlands and whether this is the multi-device license? I am looking to use it on PC's, android smartphone, android tablet, windows tablet, iphone and ipad.

What I originally said.

Region 0 is the USA & Canada only  (Though each Region does have an 'Other countries' at the bottom of the list of countries included)

You are in Region 2 - Western Europe. Both the UK & the Netherlands are included in that. Kaspersky Region 2 main headquarters is located in the UK.

But I would contact them  just to make sure.

Also in this link you provide, the Title says its a 'Download', when in fact it is a 'Key Code' in a box to be shipped from the UK to wherever, so you'll have shipping charges on top of the price.

We cannot vouch If software reseller is good or not. You will have to either buy from official sources. Or bite the bullet and hopefully it works. However, if the price is too good to be true I would pass.

Well the link he gives is buying it directly from Amazon ( Dispatched from and sold by Amazon )  I'm pretty sure they are a legit reseller.

I would NOT buy it from a 3rd party seller on Amazon though, that's just as bad as buying it off eBay or some other auction site, a big NO NO........so if it doesn't say 'sold by Amazon', do NOT buy it.

But I would still contact them just to make sure.

I already bought it yesterday. I appreciate your responses though. I will contact Kaspersky tomorrow.

Hypothetically, if you buy it from a 3rd party seller who's up to no good, is it possible that Kaspersky would seem to "work" to a non-trained eye, but in fact is working like a spyware or something?

There's always the possibility you could not activate it, since the activation 'Key Code' has been sold a thousand times and Black listed by Kaspersky.
