Need help with installing patches

Recommended Posts

Hi there, my environment:

Security Center 9 running on a Windows 2003 Standard SP2 32bits.

Clients are using Windows 7 professional 32bits or windows 2003 standard SP2.

Kaspersky version: Kaspersky endpoint Security 8

The issue: I don´t know why but the patches a, b, c, d only installed on some of that clients.

Last friday I build a installation package and installed on a server(win2003), today I checked the version of Kaspersky: 8.1.0.831 (a.b.c.d).

Today I installed the SAME package on a server with same version of win2003, and the version says only 8.1.0.831.

After seeing the same issue on a client with windows 7, I deleted and redownloaded all the updates on SC9 and tried updating... Same thing.

After that I did a report using that procedure:

Open the Administration Console and proceed to the Reports and notifications.

Generate a Report on Kaspersky Lab software versions. You should add the Updates installed field in the Detail fields section beforehand.

And then I found out A LOT of clients don´t have the a,b,c,d patches. Running update manually doesn´t solve a thing. My problem is: my new license need those patches or it doesn´t install. I still have a valid key, but it will expire in the end of the month.

Any tips on how to solve that? Thanks.

Hi,

I think that the best way is to contact KL Support.

Please collect installation logs and provide support with them.

And you don`t need to worry - if there will be some delay there is a patch that can be instaled without license to accept a licinse of new type.

hi. I believe, generally, without a license (or expired one) updates / tasks cannot be done. in above, do u mean a special patch can still be pushed to accept the newer license in a expired license node ?

thnx,

Hello!

If you are just in the begging of deploying the product then I would like to advice you to use the latest version of KES8 - KES 8.1.0.1042.

Manny problems that were in 831 version were fixed in the version 1042.

And you don't have to install all patches.

Thank You!

Hi Kravtsov,

thanks, I know of the 1042. in general, when lic is expired, can I still push tasks (except Update) on endpoints ? such task running scenario (when lic expired) would be helpful in 831-abcd cases, atleast.

eg. for some pc who was not taking abcd, I created task using patchmanager.exe /when now - remote deploy. after a while I could see clients updated with abcd.

Hi,

I'm on the same boat. The only way so far is to run patches manually from client. In my case all patches has been copied to client but not installed. What I'm doing is to disable Self Defense copy patchmanager.exe to %programFiles%\kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows\Patches and run it. Even some new installations are not picking up all patches (with updated repository). So so annoying as i have more than 100 machines around the globe with it. Now I'm really scared with deploying Kaspersky as I don;t know what will happend!

Kaspersky support is there a way to force it somehow from KSC?

Ok i found that you can force patch installation by creating installation package with patchmanager with /when now switch and than create task for computers.

Sorry for hijack thread.
