Laptops being moved randomly...

Recommended Posts

I'm helping to manage our Admin Server and we are running into an issue. Currently our laptops are all encrypted. The problem is that they are getting bounced from our regular OU to the Unassigned Devices. They go un-noticed in there for a month or two and then the user is unable to login anymore. Since it is in that OU the last time the laptop was online we can't pull a recovery passcode, or get the end user to login, or login ourselves (if we don't have an account on there). Is there a reason or a setting somewhere that places computers in the Unassigned Devices OU after a certain period of time or for some reason that we haven't thought of yet?

Typically computers fall off of our domain after about two weeks of not logging into the business network. AD recognizes it as not on the network anymore and bumps it to an OU from which we can re-domain the computer. However at this point the user is unable to login. In our case the user is on the business network the entire time the laptop is in the Unassigned Devices OU so it doesn't fall out of AD, but falls out of Kaspersky. Looking for a reason why or a resolution. Advice?

Check the "Delete the device from the group if it has been inactive for longer than (days)" setting. Go to  "Managed devices"  > Properties > Devices.

Using version 10.3.60007 for Admin Console

We are currently using KES 10.2.4.674

The "delete computer from group" is set for 30 days. That is not solving the problem though. Trying to figure out why the admin server is not recognizing it.
