Recommended Posts

Hello,

I tried to install the Kav Adminkit on our fileserver after a reinstallation of Windows.

After starting the installation I get the error I added to the attachments.

This Win 2003 Server is running SQLServer2000 SP4.

I installed the KAV msde too, but this didn't help.

So what could I do to fix the Problem ???

-Thanks

In case server restart does not help, add the following to the registry:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\InstallShield\ISWI\3.0\SetupExeLog]

"VerboseLogFileName"="C:\\install.log"

Repeat installation and send 'C:\install.log' file here. We'll analyze log file and try to find the reason for the error.

I added this:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\InstallShield\ISWI\3.0\SetupExeLog]

"VerboseLogFileName"="C:\\install.log"

to the registry but no install.log is created when I start the setup again.

What did I do wrong ?

Yes I loged in as LocalAdmin.

I have had problems with SQL Server, log in with this account from other PC and try with Enterprise Manager create new database (at the moment you use SA account and AdminKit the apropriated account) .

I installed adminkit on a desktop pc with msde on it then I saved the DB out of the msde with enterprisemanager and resaved it to the sqlserver on the "Problem"-Server.

But this didn't helped (might be a silly idear ;) ).

Microsoft installer thinks that Kaspersky Administration Kit is already installed on the computer and runs upgrade instead of setup. The usual reason for this is broken installation. It is possible that installation process was terminated incorrectly or some files were removed manually.

To fix this issue:

1) Try to remove Kaspersky Administration Kit using Add/Remove programs applet.

2) Use msicuu2.exe utility to clean all Microsoft installer records for the Kaspersky Administration Kit on the computer. Utility can be found here:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;290301

3) Repeat installation of Kaspersky Administration Kit.
