Running Kaspersky from CD

2 posts in this topic

Way back in the infancy of AV products I remember it was possible to make what we used to call a 'Magic Bullet', which was a bootable CD containing the AV program and latest datafiles. If we suspected a machine of being infected we used the CD to make sure that the viruses weren't resident and able to protect themselves.

Is this possible with Kaspersky or is it just not needed? If a machine is infected when Kaspersky is installed is it able in all instances to remove the virus/trojan?

Yes it's possible. Install kaspersky on another pc and use the rescue disk feature. You will need bartpe and a xp sp2 cd.

Also kav can be used to clean an allready infected system. Just install it and then scan in safe mode.
