Wow, what this little exe put me through with Kaspersky. So I reinstalled Kaspersky premium, instantly it detects keyboard locker as malware again. Mind you I've been using it every day when gaming or cleaning touchpad and keyboard, with Avira I was testing. And a complete FULL scan with Kaspersky finds only one malware, this little 200kb exe. Once it's deleted, another full, hour long complete system scan is clean. So again, if it was malware, it would have been infecting system for those last two weeks I used it when Kaspersky wasn't installed. It would have done SOMETHING malicious to my system. But as long as that little exe is not on my system, a full 1 hour scan finds zero malware anywhere. THAT'S how I always knew it was safe, before I even finally managed to get real proof (below). Remember, this all started over 2 weeks back, so it's been a very ridiculous process. I have every right to legitimately complain, and I am going to write a letter to Kaspersky support about it and express my disappointment and wasting hours of my time over this. Allow me to explain why. I followed all the instructions here in this forum: I booted in safe mode and it easily allowed me to access the exe file. Do you know I have never seen any so called malware before, ever, where only one engine has detected it? If it's a false positive, it's always at least 2 or 3 or 4, but when even Mcafee and Norton say it's clean, you really know something is wrong LOL. So much for Kaspersky having the lowest false positives in recent av comparatives April test. And Avira having so much higher. LOL I ran Avira for 2 weeks straight, 24/7, and not a single false positive whatsoever. But I digress. I want people to understand what I went through to get this exe to submit it for reanalysis. OK So I booted in safe mode and copied it. As soon as I rebooted back into normal mode, I right clicked and disabled Kaspersky for 5 hours, of course I was going to manually re enable protection when I had submitted the file, but this is why something like Malwarebytes becomes so useful when you need to disable an AV. You see, disabling Kaspersky means your system is open to everything, as defender does not come back on, and not even if you right click the icon and exit Kaspersky (more on that later). I use Malwarebytes VPN and have a 2 year plus subscription for 5 devices because I use it on my mac and my iPhone, and I have it on the PC for second opinion scans like SO many others do., But because I am a paid user of it, when I need to disable an AV, with one click I can enable all real time protections of Malwarebytes so I am NOT NAKED to the internet, so to speak. Anyway, K was disabled, yet one minute into it, somehow it detected it and deleted it. Same as always, just two options, disinfect or disinfect without restart. It NEVER puts it into quarantine so I can restore it and add an exception, and if I reinstall it, Windows gives it a different install folder number which it does every time you uninstall and re install any windows store app. So this was impossible to make an exception for. It gets better. I had to go all the way and actually tell Kaspersky NOT to start with windows, and then I went back into safe mode, re copied the exe file to a place I had user access, re started and it was gone when the computer booted back into normal windows. So Kaspersky must have some kind of boot time protection. So I had no option but to uninstall Kaspersky, leave it uninstalled whilst I submitted the file to virus total and the false detection form and just re installed. Weeks of hell for one app. As to why I don't use the one other similar alternative app out there, it's incredibly slow, and has made an error before and locked my entire computer and I had to force shut down with power button. The windows store app is lightning fast and just works and always has. So that's why, before anyone asks. To me, Kaspersky behaved worse than any malware I have personally encountered. The real problem is the disinfection pop up that gave me no option to add it as an exception, no matter what I tried. It does make one think, and before anyone thinks I am whining, just remember I've spent about 10 hours of real time on this, submitting reports, testing other AVs, and so on. Kaspersky should not have behaved this way and given me an easy option to exclude it, like every other, I mean EVERY other AV I tested. How did I test the other AV's (I made a complete list of the ones I fully tested, about 17 of them, the ones that had 100% functional trials, but that's another storey for another time), well I used Eicar files. All of them bar Kaspersky allow simple restore from quarantine. ALL of them. Kaspersky just deletes. The thing is, if it's actually something like an info stealer or ransomware, of course I want kaspersky to delete it, but just for my own info, is there ANY setting, something in Kaspersky that could have saved me from this fresh hell with this innocent little file? Hi, since I now have a 10 seat Kaspersky Premium license, I wanted to install it on the Mac. BUT, I use Little Snitch, and although kaspersky mac doesn't have the firewall, it has a network component that was incompatible with little Snitch many, many years ago. I use Little Snitch religiously as it's the easiest app on Mac, period, to get internet connection outbound access alerts. And the beauty is that it has a perfect set of default rules to allow the OS and safari to function, so you really only get alerts as you install new apps (or if you genuinely have some spyware or malware or something). It's not the end of the world, I will keep using Malwarebytes on my Mac if Kaspersky still doesn't want to co exist with Snitch. However, I thought it would be nice to have kasapersky, as unlike MWB, it deals with windows malware on the mac also so you don't accidentally spread it to others, as well as real time scanning whereas MWB only deals with Mac malware and ONLY if it tries to execute. Unlike Windows, there is no quick simple system restore on Mac, and Time Machine takes ages for something like this. So would be great to know up front if anyone knows! TIA!

Try pressing [Print Screen] key in Your keyboard, then open Paint app -> File -> Paste -> Save.

@harlan4096 Further Update: I've conducted more testing and have narrowed down the trigger for this issue. It appears that Kaspersky does not freeze or stay stuck in the foreground when performing a Full Scan or a Quick Scan. However, the problem consistently occurs when a Background Scan is running. As soon as a background scan initiates, Kaspersky becomes unresponsive to attempts to switch to other applications, remaining in the foreground. This strongly suggests that the "Background Scan" process is directly related to this window focus/freezing bug. Hopefully, this more specific information will be helpful in identifying the root cause. Thank you again for your assistance.

For Scanning, read Scanning the computer & go to the Kaspersky Plus *Home* page, select the *arrow* icon to the right of Quick scan - that opens a page with all *additional* scan options: Full scan, Selective scan, Removable dev scan etc; use the scroll-bar on the RHS of the page to navigate up/down. I never ignore anything, I was only replying to that other member with the pic and explaining why I couldn't access the folder in normal mode, which they were giving me as an alternative to safe mode (clearly, as they crossed the word safe mode out). I can not access networking in safe mode regardless, even if I enable safe mode with networking. It's been a problem for me since I have this laptop, and I have reinstalled a fresh OS multiple times and I can't get it to work. Maybe ethernet would work, but wi-fi does not, and there is no ethernet in this house, anywhere. Not a single port. Please don't accuse me of ignoring when I never ignored you, I just had to deal with the other issue first, then if I reinstalled Kaspersky, I was going to follow your every instruction. Right now Kaspersky is not installed, so I did not ignore a thing, and I feel offended about that, and rightly so. Now I will read the rest of your reply, thank you. Re the pic, I thought you were a mod. I apologise about that, as that was a mistake from my end. I no longer have the ability to edit any post though, which is confusing me no end. I can not find any other keyboard locker, not on the store in Australia. Could you kindly link to one? I put the search keyboard locker into Microsoft store and can not find one. Kaspersky free will have ads won't it? and spam? Is it missing anything for actual malware protection, like the roll back, extensive ransomware protection, etc, or is it just the firewall? does it still have mic and cam protection? That is essential to me, and Avira doesn't have it which is going to be a dealbreaker anyway, so that's out. I'd honestly rather just press "off" on kaspersky firewall and use glasswire, if that's the option. Not the end of the world. Glasswire still works and monitors all network activity, just you have to enable the firewall mode for block features. I am not that distubed by the idea of disabling Kaspersky just when I want to use Glasswire's features when gaming, and re enabling it when not. That's not a bad idea which just came to me. I was just concerned that the firewall might be integrated to other malware blocking components which is why I asked. I didn't even KNOW there was a kaspersky free till now, as I don't even see it on their homepage. My renewal is coming up and I am just trying to decide what to go with for the next 2 years, that's all. Re the app, it's a false positive, simple as that, and not up to me to fix it, I can't fix it, that's up to Kaspersky and support are aware of the issue. I have evidence it's a false positive. Kaspersky has listed it as a different malware each time it has blocked it, for one, and for two, as said, my system has used it every day for years, and if it had run any malware on my system, Kaspersky full scan would have detected other malware infestations on my system instead of detecting that one single file as the ONLY malware anywhere on my system. If that's not proof, I don't know what is. Not to mention NO other AV finds it to be malware. None on my system anyway, and I am up to 10 second opinion scanners now, every free non real time scanner I could find. Heck, EVEN Norton Power eraser says it's clean, and that's the KING of false positives. PS I AM going to contact the dev tonight and let them know of the issue with pics and a link to this topic.

Hi Flood, I already really miss Kaspersky and I have tried everything else except for Norton and Mcafee which I will never even consider, but you name it otherwise, I've tried it. I am going to go a bit off topic here as I need your help deciding. I am sure we can get the issue with keyboard locker app worked out. My experience is not what you had, it only showed me two disinfection options and when I pressed try to disinfect without restart, it took ages and still restarted then did a full scan which took ages. It's not a slow computer by any means, being 24 cores, and it has an insane power limit for a laptop (200w just on the cpu) more of a desktop replacement really - MSI GT77, 4TB Samsung Gen 4 SSD, 64GB ram, 13980HX chip and 4090m GPU. The last app to try is Avira which is what I am on now. And although I think it's a fantastic app with a fantastic GUI, I just don't feel safe because the thing with Kaspersky is the behavioural detection, that's what makes it so special. If something starts doing a malicious act, Kaspersky is so good at jumping in. I have watched all of PC Security Channels tests over the years and am always left astonished how good Kaspersky is. My one issue in it, and the reason for this post, is the ridiculous inability to have a simple alert mode for when a NEW app tries to connect to the internet, to get a simple notification whether it's allowed or not. I have been dabbling with this for years with Kaspersky and written about it for years, and I do not understand why they won't add that simple option. The only way to do it is let Kaspersky learn with trusted apps for a few days, then enable "ask" mode in the firewall. Then you have to disable "perform actions automatically", but see, if you enable ask mode for everything from that point on, all the apps currently on the list *also* go to ask mode. So you then have to go back to firewall and select every single app already in Kaspersky's list and mark it to "allowed". But to get there, just in that 5 minutes, you will be inundated with non stop pop ups about EVERYTHING. The other day when the issue with the windows store app happened, I thought I had finally nailed it. I had disabled automatic mode and marked all current apps in Kaspersky's list as trusted, and it DID just start notifying me only on NEW apps. But my happiness was short lived - Kaspersky just doesn't ask you about internet access, it asks you about every single registry change every app not already in the allowed list makes. How do I know what is safe or not and what to allow games to do. Launching one steam game gave me 7 popups to contend with, for example. Therefore, TLDR; I have come to the absolute realisation that it is impossible to set Kaspersky's firewall to notify you ONLY when NEW apps are trying to access outbound internet, and notify you of nothing else. So, believe it or not, Avira does that PERFECTLY. It reminds me of Little Snitch on Mac (I was exclusive with mac till 2019, now I use both, mac for music, windows for gaming/bedroom), and Avira is the first app that I have used, besides GLASSWIRE firewall, that can replicate this simple act. Build a base of trusted apps, then activate the feature and it will ask you one time ONLY and again only for outbound internet access, when a new app tries to access the internet. This way I can block 99% of games that all try to call home, and apps too, that never actually need to do so to function, and without going to a list every time and finding them, after they have already accessed the internet the first time anyway, cause Kaspersky has always allowed everything. So, I did something, I disabled Kaspersky's firewall and installed Glasswire and enabled the firewall on that, and I was able to do the exact feature I am asking about above. Windows security notification permanently shows an exclamation mark if I do that, as Kaspersky is complaining that I have disabled something, but it's the only thing I can think of to have Kaspersky' malware protection and an EASY, super easy to use actually, firewall control where everything is one click away and in front of me at all times. Glasswire is just brilliant, and every AV with a firewall should copy it, seriously. I just wish Kaspersky sold a product without the firewall, I really do. I'd be so all over it. My question is - if I disabled the Windows security icon so it doesn't bother me with the warning symbol, and run this combo, do you think I still have the bulk of Kaspersky's actual protection that protects me from getting a serious infection, or do you believe the firewall plays a critical role in that and if I disable it I should just use something else with the features I want? That said, I do believe the Glasswire firewall has a lot of safety tech built in re internet connections and is a good firewall, even though in reality it is based off of Windows own firewall but adds a ton of functionality to it. Long post, sorry, but it's the final hurdle for me. I am ready to reinstall Kaspersky once I get a few opinions about it, and deal with this Microsoft store app being blocked too lol. I can not access any windows store exes in explorer and have never been able to on any computer, in fact windows won't even allow me to browse the install folders 2) I asked them what to do since send wouldn't work, and I guess it got lost in translation as I did not understand their reply at all. My question was, is there a report file generated to disk somewhere that I can send you, since the automated send feature keeps failing? They did not answer that 3) Thanks 4)The problem is it's not free anymore, it's a dollar now. I offered to buy it for support, happily. I have had it on my system for years and suddenly Kaspersky doesn't like it. 8 second opinion scanners, with full scans that took many hours, all say it's fine (MWB, ESET, Emsisoft, Norton PE, Hitman Pro and others). In fact I disabled Kaspersky as said and enabled Malwarebytes real time protection so I was not "naked" lol, left the app running for half an hour and pressed the buttons on it many times, and then I closed the app and reenable kaspersky. If there was actual malware on my system, Kaspersky would have gone nuts, plus I used it for the last month that kasperskyt wasn't installed, and if malicious, it would have infected my machine. With reports, I am so sorry, I got upset and I used Revo to uninstall Kaspersky completely as I use that app on many games to instantly disable mouse if I am using a controller, or when I want to wipe the keyboard with a cloth (many times a day due to fingerprints which bother me a lot, it's a dark laptop), so now there's nothing kaspersky left on the machine and I have gone back to malwarebytes for malware/glasswire for firewall/spyshelter for webcam and mic monitoring for now. When I have time I can reinstall KAS and do it all again if it helps. I do appreciate the reply, I really do. I was just frustrated because every time kaspersky blocked it, I could not ignore it, it forced disinfection and it took ages each time.

It still doesn’t work for me. I have to completely disable the antivirus to launch the Steam application. I tried continuing the conversation with support, but I ran out of patience. I feel like they're either avoiding confrontation or trying to brush me off.

In view of the fact that support for Win 10 will end in fall 2025, it is time for Kaspersky to launch a Linux version of Password Manager. I have been a customer of the program for years and own a PC that is not Win 11 compatible. I can't and don't want to buy a new PC. My device is perfectly suitable for my purposes but is already several years old. Therefore, I think in the interest of the many customers who use Kaspersky Password Manager and, like me, have no possibility to buy a new PC but want to continue using the program, the company should fulfill our wish.

Greetings. Yesterday just before going to sleep i was surprised with a strange Pop-up from Kaspersky, it said my antivirus wasn't activated and that my protection was disabled. It was odd since my signature will last until october. A quick look made me realize that after a update, the antivirus just expelled my activation key and downgraded back to Kaspersky Free. I entered my account and had to manually disconnect my computer so i could install once again in the same computer. I'm wondering if this will be a recurring problem, because most of the time I ignore all the annoying pop-ups of Kaspersky, but luckily this time i paid attention since the colors had change from the ones i used to see. PS: Second problem, if you have time: How do i get hid of all the annoying pop-ups that Kaspersky seems to be throwing at me? I know about the configurations inside the program, but i only have the system ones activated, all the others about promotions and news are disabled, but i still get a lot of irritating pop-ups every now and then, even when I'm in fullscreen. I remember Kaspersky being all quiet in the computer back in the day, but now it seems that more and more irrelevant pop-ups are appearing on the screen.

That's good to know, as soon I saw this post I immediately unistalled kaspersky and restarted my PC to see steam finally back working, but if all it takes is pausing the protection to launch steam than reactivating it that's a much better solution to unistalling and reinstalling every time the issue pops up. But hopefully they fix this issue that very few seem to be encountering, as it's been a stressful few days since encountering this to say the least.

Good to know, @Sat_rn. I tried uninstalling both Steam and Kaspersky, as @Flood and Flood's wife suggested earlier, but it didn’t make a difference. The only way to launch Steam is by temporarily disabling Kaspersky’s protection. Strangely enough, once Steam is running, I can reactivate the antivirus without any issues — the only thing being blocked is the startup process. PS: I’ve created a ticket and am currently in contact with one of the support agents. I recommend you do the same. Hopefully, we can get this issue resolved quickly.

I have same issue, It has nothing to do with Windows 11 24H2 update as I didn't have it installed before the issue started happening, updated my Windows cause I thought that might be the issue but I didn't do anything. Pausing protection will does not allow to launch Steam, only by completely Exiting Kaspersky does Steam start. Started happening around 29th/30th not sure when exactly.

Today, I ran into a rather frustrating issue. After turning on my computer on March 30, I noticed that Steam didn’t launch automatically as it normally does. At first, I thought it might just be an autostart glitch, so I tried opening it manually — but nothing happened. The app simply wouldn’t start. I went through all possible fixes: reinstalling Steam, deleting leftover files, and checking system settings, but no luck. Finally, as a last resort, I decided to temporarily disable Kaspersky. To my surprise, Steam launched immediately. However, the problem persists — every time I restart my PC, I have to turn off Kaspersky to open Steam. This has never happened before, and I have no idea what’s causing it. You might wonder if I changed anything on March 29 that could have triggered this. The answer is no — I barely used my computer that day. There were no updates for Steam or Windows, and I didn’t tweak any settings, either in my system or in the antivirus software. One more detail: Poland switched to daylight saving time overnight, from March 29 to 30. Could that have somehow caused a conflict between Kaspersky and Steam? Honestly, I doubt it — but something is definitely wrong, and I don’t know how to fix it. Additionally, I’m using Kaspersky Plus with active protection and Windows 11 24H2 with the latest updates installed. If you need more information, screenshots, or video recordings, I’m happy to provide them. This issue is quite frustrating, and I’d really like to solve it — especially since I’ve never encountered anything like this before. I’m also worried that Kaspersky might be blocking more applications than just Steam. For now, everything else seems to be working fine.

Yes, but it doesn't just happen on this link. I didn't note the different URLs, but it always happens on side URLs like a page may call under the hood (here, maybe connecting to an API); what I mean is that I didn't access this connect.facebook.net URL, but one of a page I visited did it apparently. Well, I'll restart my PC, clean the cache and cookies, then launch a full Kaspersky scan... And if this kind of warning comes again, I'll notice the concerned URLs...

Description: I am experiencing multiple issues with the Kaspersky VPN application on my Apple MacBook. Firstly, when I launch the app and select a node to connect to, the application freezes and becomes unresponsive. Additionally, I am unable to quit the app normally, and it appears to stop functioning entirely. Secondly, there are times when the application doesn’t even open properly—upon launching, it fails to display the interface at all. These issues persist despite restarting the app and my device. Details: Device: Apple MacBook Air Operating System: macOS Monterey 12.3.1 Kaspersky VPN Version: 3.4.2 Steps to Reproduce: Open the Kaspersky VPN application. Select a node from the available list (if the interface loads). The app freezes immediately after selection and cannot be closed without force-quitting. Alternatively, launching the app sometimes results in no interface displaying at all. Troubleshooting Attempted: Restarted the application. Restarted my MacBook. Since a week ago or so, i've been having an issue where Kaspersky will 'randomly' block all access to websites regardless of the browser i use. I did several tests to figure out what was going on before coming to the conclusion it was Kaspersky: Checked other devices connected to the network that are not running Kaspersky and all are working fine Double checked that time/date was correct and windows was syncing properly to their servers (still works even when kaspersky blocks) Tracert to the respective websites domain works Tried ipconfig flushdns/register, netsh winsock reset and other Tried pausing Kaspersky protection Uninstalled and then reinstalled Kaspersky latest client The only solution i've found to work around this issue has been to either reboot my PC, or to exit Kaspersky and launch it again. I do not see anything in the Kaspersky timeline or System Audit reports page that explain what is happening, i haven't got any warnings either about certificates, so i'm a bit lost on what i have to do in order to solve this issue. Hi. I found this but in Settings, I don't have Application Settings. Open Kaspersky settings: Launch your Kaspersky application and navigate to the settings menu. Access Application Settings: Within the settings, locate the "Application Settings" section. Find Remote Control Defense: In the settings panel, look for the "Remote Control Defense" option. Disable the feature: Uncheck the box next to "Disable external management of system services" to allow remote access.

Hi. I haven't blocked the camera in Quick Settings. When I try out Mugshot from My Kaspersky, I receive an email saying that the response is "OK" but I never get a mugshot. I uninstalled and reinstalled Kaspersky today, so I assume I've installed the latest version. Phone: Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. SM-S918B/DS. One UI version: 6.1
