Not able to visit a lot of HTTPS websites ERR_SSL_VERSION_INTERFERENCE [merged]

Recommended Posts

Yep same Problem and its get reallly anoying. Since Today most of non Mainstream Sites with SSL dont work anymore and got only ERR_SSL_VERSION_INTERFERENCE

Before i got this Problem also some Times but the Websites reload automaticly and worked again. And now the Sites dont Load anymore. Even Addons like BetterTwitchTV or Destiny Item Manager dont work anymore with scan Encrypted connections.

OS is also Windows 10 Pro x64 v1803

KIS: 19.0.0.1088c

Chrome: 69.0.3497.100

Also Link Protections dont work anymore (Google Results) and i really think now after years to go an another Product. Kaspersky Internet Security was many years my Software and got also contaminated Scripts from Websites even with Privacy Badger, uBlock and uMatrix but thats required scan Encrypted connections & Script Inject. Without i feel the Standard Web Security just dont Work (Just make a EIC Testvirus Download).

and NO i dont want to disable scan Encrypted connections because Web Security is massivly fewer without the Script inbound of Kaspersky ( again Just make a test with EIC Testvirus. It wont be blocked from download without scan Encrypted connections.) and btw today all website creator can an make an SSL Certificate like Lets Encrypt also Bad Websites. scan Encrypted connections & Script Inject is a must. Without is just like an Free Anti Virus that only detect Files when the system get scanned but mosty then is to late.

Sorry for Bad angry English but Kaspersky get bader and bader over the last Versions.

Hello. I understand your disappointment and ask you to open a support ticket here. Please describe the issue and add your  GSI report and a screenshot. Thanks

Sorry but your Support is useless. Its more like a Bug Report without answers. Its always the same: 1. Open Ticket with Report, 2. Copy & Paste "Pls send Report Files and Screenshots", 3. Support has no idea and set the Ticket to a higher Supporter Level, 4. Higher support Level ask again with copy and paste for Report and screens and finally 5. Never got an answer again...

I installed Bitdefender as Test but my Lord that is even bader. SSL Scan blocks Thunderbird complete as example. Windows Defender is OK for Scans but really not for Script attacks (Ads, iFrames etc..) or other "Live" Services as SSL Scans etc...

I mean c`mon the ERR_SSL_VERSION_INTERFERENCE problem exits since 2+ Years (?) and no Thunderbird Support at all. I dont even want to know what for new Problems will come with W10 v1809... Glad i have Pro and can Set Updates only for Business (Semi-Annual-Channel + New Features 30 Days.).

Im really disappointed at the moment but unfortunately your Software has my Security Standards i need/that works (or halfway work atm).

I can assure you that our costumer support takes seriously into account all the tickets and forward bugs to the developers team. Even if you have the perception that your ticket is not being considered, or costumer specialists give you a provisional workaround for your issue, in the meantime our team of developers is working hard to fix all the bugs, in order to provide all the users the best experience and strongest security. The contribution of costumers like you is always essential. That's why I ask you not to quit, and forward your issues to the technical support. Thanks for your  understanding and patience.

Alright I am making the ticket right now but I noticed that the GSI program GetSystemInfo 6.2.0.437 takes forever to generate a rapport.. Before it used to be done in like what, under 2 minutes. It's running now for almost 10 minutes (9 mins and 33 secs to be exact).... Anyways, I hope they fix the bug or problem.

Thanks.

That's odd. The tickets I made in the past got all handled very well, don't have any complains about that part. It's just lame that it doesn't properly let you remove files from the quarantaine on default. Not sure if this is fixed now, I guess it is (I hope so). I made my ticket so let's wait and see what the outcome is.
PS Invision Community CMS is lame a$$ ... I cannot see the bbcode or the quote, ips_editor is completly made noob proof now and thus messed up for me because I want to see the code, I don't want stupid buttons <_<... That's why I didn't do one single reply with double quote.. I am used to the old IPB 3.x..

Using Firefox and most sites won't load saying there's an SSL problem. Only way to stop it is to stop it scanning SSL . Just started happening today.

This just started happening to me with chrome and firefox. It happens with some sites that use SSL but not others. Doesn't happen with opera browser.

To access sites on chrome and firefox that get ERR_SSL_VERSION_INTERFERENCE error i add those sites to the  encrypted connection scanning exclusions list.

This is a temp fix till kaspersky fixes the problem which i hope is real soon.

Hello everyone! I was going to post about this issue. I have windows 7 x64, Chrome 69.0.3497.100, KIS 19.0.0.1088 (c) (All up to date). It's been couple of weeks that for many websites with HTTPS connections I get "ERR_SSL_VERSION_INTERFERENCE" in Chrome, and same problem with Firefox. There are just few websites that I don't have problem with like google or Wikipedia. And today it's getting worse. Until yesterday when I got this error all I had to do was refreshing the page and it worked. But today this doesn't work anymore. I don't want to turn off encrypted connection scanning and I don't want to add so many sites to exclusion, because kaspersky says web antivirus, url advisor, anti-banner,.... won't work correctly that way. I thought there is something wrong on my side or websites certificate but apparently there is something wrong in KIS. There are other posts here about this issue, like this one:

https://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?/topic/401821-cant-connect-to-facebookcom-and-more-sites/

And let's just say we can add those websites to exclusions, is it safe? Web antivirus and some other components won't work on those sites correctly. Like fransje said: "Now the SSL error is gone and all websites work again, at the cost of the security we paid for (lose 1 layer of protection)"

Also safe website icon is missing in google search results again. It's all here so I won't go into the details:

https://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?/topic/401939-safe-website-icon-is-missing-in-google-search/

At least in this case apparently support said they are working on it.

Hello I have exactly the same issu, and I can't find any solutions in my language (french).

I'm more than upset because I buy today 3 new licences for my computers, and I'm at work and I can't (as anyone here) login Google/Gmail and all the websites https.

And I'm agree with other customers, we pay but the solution is to loose some layers of protection if we desactivate the scan on https.

In m'y job security is really important and I work a lot with sharing files that I don't have any access.

We need a solution quickly

ps : And if it's also in french it could be usefull

Just perfect! Now I cannot even open google. I haven't had this much problem with Kaspersky since I stared using it 7-8 years ago.

Just a note that I'm having the same - or very similar - problem. I use Firefox, and all of a sudden, I can't get to many websites today. I just get a "secure connection failed" message.

Turning off Kaspersky scanning fixes the problem, but that's a temporary fix, at best. I mean, the whole point to security software is the security. I don't like to turn it off.

I tried to check that website but unfortunately I cannot open it: "ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT". Maybe there is a problem with my internet. By any chance, is it possible for you to add the instruction here please? Thank you so much!

4 solutions:

1. Turn off or Uninstall 3rd party Antivirus

2. Reset the Browser

3. Disable Hardware acceleration

4.Disable TLS 1.3

Thank you so much for that! I Really appreciate it. Thanks a lot!

I just don't know which one of those steps worked for pierrotraimbault. Clearly no one wants to uninstall KIS. I'm not sure step 2 and 3 have any thing to do with this problem. And step 4 isn't a good idea (an IT expert told me that). I wish pierrotraimbault was here and told us how the problem was solved.

None of those things are a fix, they just disable security features, so the problem doesn't show up because you're no longer checking. You might as well just disable the checking in KIS if you're going to do any of those things. Things like hardware acceleration are only relevant to page rendering and have nothing to do with https/certificates.

The problem is that Kaspersky is breaking something doing it's man-in-the-middle attack to check out https connections ever since yesterday's Microsoft updates.  Kaspersky should be fixing this as a matter of urgency as although we're the first ones reporting it, everyone is going to be having this issue show up sooner or later.

Same issue with KIS 2019(c) . Tech support told me to disable TLS within Chrome. The issue is fixed for now.

Same issue here.  Bing and Yandex no issues.  Go figure.

I installed the current version of Kaspersky Internet Security on 3 PCs and one PC encountered this problem when using Firefox. Completely uninstalling Kaspersky and then reinstalling the software solved the problem for me.
