Agent Deploys but not client

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

KSCv9 installed on a Windows 2003 Std R2 server (upgraded from KAKv8).

I seem to be able to deploy the new agent (to a degree) but the client doesn't install, the task just sits there lifeless. Please see screenshot.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Hi,

I have installed that registry update, but nothing is being logged that I can see.

I have tried installing KAVv6.0.4 onto an XP Pro SP3 PC, but that does the same thing - files begin to copy with the task status at 50%/51% then it just stalls indefinitely.

I tried running the riprep.exe tool on the target PC. This made no difference. There are no firewalls in between.

The client/target PC appears to have a working Agent?:

I am having the same exact issue. The Agent installs fine but KEP doesn't. It hangs at 51%. I have replicated this issue with 2003 Server R2 x64 and 32bit, 2008 R2, XP SP3, XP x64 SP2 and Win7 SP1 32bit and x64. All of the deploy features worked just fine with Kaspersky Administration Kit v8. Please help! thanks.

I'm still having this issue. I have completely un-installed and re-installed the agents and ect... Any ideas?

Can you install the application locally from the share?

Yes we can do installs locally from the klshare folder. We have also tried some other third party packages that we have deployed in the past from the v8 admin kit and they don't work either, same issues. We have had no issues deploying the new Security Agents.

Just dropping in to see if anyone has a solution yet.

Interesting to hear others are experiencing the same problem.

I think I found the trace file on the admin server but it's huge, I had to delete it at 7.7Gb and in about 10 minutes it was at 1Gb again!

Hmm, okay. I just tried to manually install KES 8 from the share (\\samba3\KAVSHARE\Packages\KES_8.1.0.646\exec\setup.exe).

I receive a box saying:

The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.

Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'kavsrv.en.msi' in the box below.

Use source:
C:\Users\ejohnson\Desktop\KavFs 6.0.4.1424\exec\

So I can manually browse to \\samba3\KAVSHARE\Packages\KavFs 6.0.4.1424\exec\kavsrv.en.msi but then it alerts me that I have to provide administrator permission to access the file. I click 'retry' and a UAC box pops up. If I click through this, the KES8 installer appears to complete.

I installed this with enterprise admin privileges. Additionally, the KLAdmins and KLOperators groups are both in the Domain Admins groups. But regardless of all this, the \\Samba3 share is a linux box (with all KAVSHARE files having full read/write/execute permissions), so why are there access issues on these files at all?!

Thanks!

Still haven't cracked this :(

Thanks!

What happens if you move the the KAVSHARE to a Windows (2003 minimum) box ?

Maybe the support request 311996434 is of interest to somebody at KL here -- and maybe the issue is related somehow?

And no one show installation log? So poor. Why you try to install KAV6.0 ? First of all remove all kaspersky products from pc.

I didn't fancy uploading a 7.7GB file.

I tried installing v6 because v8 wasn't working. It proved that it's not related to the client version.

We are also having this same issue with newly deployed workstations that have never had any Kaspersky products on them....

Hello, file name is "C:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Security Center$klserver-1093.log". This is what is created when I run "trace-5-server_ON.reg".

I think I may be getting closer to the answer though...

I decided to completely uninstall the server again, deleting all traces of Kaspersky software. I then re-installed KSC9 keeping as many default options as possible.

Once installed I just followed the wizard and deployed KES8 to a PC. This worked!

Next I decided to point the KAVSHARE back to my normail \\samba3\KAVSHARE. Deploed another client and this also worked.

Next I restored the certificate from my backup. Deployed another client but this failed at 51% again! :dash1:

What's the beef?! KSC9 doesn't like old certificates? It doesn't seem to matter which backup I restore my certificate from it still fails.

How can I fix this?

Thanks.

Well I have tried to just restore my certificate from the clean install I had backed up and it's still hanging at 51% again.

It seems to me that it may not be anything to do with the certificate, but instead the actual process of restoring from backup. Somehow it's just borking the KSC9 system (even though I only restored the certificate from my original backup - nothing else!). Looks like I'm going to have to clean install it all over again!

I'm having the same issue. I created a completely new server and install for Admin Kit 9, and imported the old settings from the old one.

A few things I've noticed.

1. If the new network agent isn't already installed, it will hang every time unless you uncheck "Use Network Agent" for uploading the package install over the network. Even if you have the other two options checked, it never seems to fail over to those when connecting via the Network Agent doesn't work.

2. After the network agent is successfully installed, the installation of the new KAV 8.1 client will not start and hang if 6.0 MP4 is still present on the unit. The old clients are password protected, so if I had a hunch that this problem would be that the install task does not include the option to enter the uninstall password and thusly remove it when it needs to. An install log file is not generated locally on the machine before or after the task is stopped. (I say that according to log location based off of this article - http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208285288)

3. If I manually uninstall KAV 6.0, or do so via a separate task through the Admin Kit and reboot, the client installation will then start. At this point it's about a 25/75 chance that the install will complete successfully, or it will hang at 66% saying it's still installing (it's not just taking a while, I've left jobs to run for hours). Oddly enough, an install log still isn't generated (no kl-etc files or MSI*.log files).
