Hello,

My installed version is 9.0.0.736 (a,c).

My question is what happened to Patch B? It sounds as if Patch B contained more important updates than C.

I, like many other users I read about, continually suffer with slow performance, 5 minute start time for IE 8, nearly 100% resource usage etc.

Will Patch B assist in correcting these issues? I am on the verge of downgrading to KIS 2009.

Thanks

If you have 9.0.0.736 (a,c) and databases are up to date, then patch b is included. The missing b is just an inconsequential cosmetic item.

Performance issues: Please post your GetSystemInfo report link, instructions are located in the fourth Important topic.

Sorry I didn't get this yesterday. Here's the link for the report.

You have both Kaspersky 2009 and 2010 folders on program files.

Make sure you have your Activation Code handy first, then (if applicable) right click the K icon and select Exit, then run the removal tool:

http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208279463

Download and extract it to your C:\ drive (so its located in c:\kavremover). Scroll down in the linked instructions and select All Known Products. Reboot after tool use.

Then download a fresh distributive of the installer from links contained here: http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=172859

You will need your Activation Code after install > reboot.

It appears that this solved the problem. No resource dominance by avp.exe and I can load IE 8 again. Was this due to a faulty load of KIS or having KIS 2009 as well as KIS 2010?

Thanks for the help!

You're welcome. It appears that maybe you upgrade Kaspersky "on top" of the older version.

Or if you do a repair installation for some reason, that letter seems to disappear, even though the patch is still installed.

Interestingly, my version now shows revisions a,b,c.

It's a relief to have it working properly now. I can't believe I let it go for months without correcting it. I would foolishly Pause Protection to do things when necessary.
