So last month, I downgraded from windows 11 to windows 10, so after that, I thought all my data have deleted but I didn't know that I had windows.old folder in my PC, so PC Speed-Up told me there's large amount of files so I accepted it, and it DELETED MY WINDOWS OLD FOLDER without realizing it, so how can I get it back? because I'm actually gonna crash out if there's no way :( I LOST ALL MY DATA BRUH.

Usually, when You downgrade/upgrade the Windows system, user data is remaining, so when You downgraded from W11 to W10, You should have kept your documents untouched.

 

That said, I'm afraid that Kaspersky module target is to free disk space, and there is no way to recover any removed data, since if it kept a backup copy of what it deletes, then there would be no way to really release space.

You could try some specific tools to recover removed files on Windows, but no guarantee the success...

Data Recovery Tools

If PC Speed-Up actually deleted the Windows.old folder, the first thing I'd do is stop using the drive as much as possible because new data can overwrite the deleted files and make recovery harder.

Check the Recycle Bin first (unlikely, but worth a look). If it's not there, you'll need a data recovery tool to scan the drive for deleted files. Some recovery programs can still find data from a removed Windows.old folder if the sectors haven't been overwritten yet.

I've seen people have decent results with tools like Softaken Data Recovery and similar recovery software when dealing with accidentally deleted folders. The sooner you run a recovery scan, the better your chances.

Just don't install a bunch of new programs or download large files onto that drive before trying recovery. Hopefully the data is still recoverable.
