A few questions ...

Recommended Posts

1. When "show application interface" is UNchecked (we don't want the clients to be able to fool around with KAV) the shell extension "scan for viruses" doesn't work. Is it supposed to be that way? The error message says "application is not installed"...

2. When a client that is disconnected from the corporate network, but connected to the internet tries to update the virus databases, will it try Kaspersky servers as the administration server is unavailable?

1. Yes, it is supposed to work this way. Shell extension tries to open a window to show the progress of the scan but cannot do so without the GUI.

2. Yes, the updater will try to use KL servers when it failed to connect to KL Administration Server if you checked the option "Use KL servers if ADK server or path is inaccessible" in the updater options. You can event choose to use a proxy server for Internet servers and not for other servers.

Note: the information above applies to version KAV for WKS 5.0.225 (aka MP3).

Hi!

If you have "show application interface" unchecked the Scan must run, have you checked the little BLACK 'bolts' ?? they must be closed to have the policy adopted!

At your 2nd point you've to distinguish between local and global tasks... you can see the difference at the admin-kit, go to you wanted machine and to properties -> tasks

here you can see task with a cogwheel in front and without. the ones WITH are are local tasks and the ones with it and a FOLDER are global task! as you can imagine you can configure the local tasks by it's own and say them to use the Admin-Kit Server for Updating or KAspersky or something completly diffrent

Hope this helps!
