Kaspersky Rescue DIsk 10 - Dell Studio XPS 8100 - Multiple failures - Seeking useful adviceadvice

Kaspersky Rescue Disk 18 - v18.0.11.0(a); (2018/11/17)

Target: Dell Studio XPS 8100 (i7, 12MB RAM; Stock - no modifications); MS Windows 10 - Fully functional

Related: Unit has stock: GeForce GTX 460 OEM; Ethernet controller: Broadcom Limited Netlink BCM57780 Gigabit Ethernet PCIe (rev 01)

#Problems:

(1) opt: Kaspersky Rescue DIsk Graphics mode - Blank screen; system unresponsive

(2) opt: Hardware Info - Blank screen; system unresponsive

(3) opt: Kaspersky Rescue Disk - Limited  Graphics Mode

.Desktop appears.

(A) No Internet connection. Has *not detected presence of NIC. lspci shows that the NIC was detected! No refs to the NIC in dmesg output

(B) Invoked 'Kaspersky Rescue Tool' from the desktop

.it advises that cannot update the databases --- as expected - because desktop shows it has not detected the NIC (ref (i) above)

Invoked a system scan.

Scan completes with an error 'No enough memory'' (grammar error - should read 'Not enough...' or 'insufficient...').

System has 12MB RAM installed and plenty of HDD freespace on all volumes! All volumes accessible from desktop.

So Gentoo knows about the NIC (lspci op), but doesn't load a driver for it (never gets to DHCP; and desktop network config doesn't list the NIC for config selection using the desktop menu apls).

Gentoo knows about the system RAM (12MB), so the 'no enough memory' error from Kaspersky Rescue Tool apl seems to be an apl level bug (ie. not Gentoo's fault),on the surface of it.


I could put in another generic NIC (eg. Realtek card) to get around the NIC issues I suppose - prefer not to.

The 'no enough memory' error on the surface appears to be a bug in the application as opposed to the environment.'

Looking for genuine helpful advice.

Hello.

Please create and attach "hardware info" report https://support.kaspersky.com/14234 from "Limited  Graphics Mode".

Also ISO with new bases uploaded every day. As workaround you can download ISO every time when you want to scan, instead bases update.
