Block URL's contining certain keywords (using wild card)

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Today we discovered a peculiar problem with SAFE KIDS.

We realized that the kid used Google on his device to search for certain sites and that google (i Chrome on the Android Device) redirected him to the desired site without any problems. Upon inspection the url looks something like this:

https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://pokekartan.se/<etc>

We tried blocking the full URL but SAFE KIDS just resorted to block google.com, which wasn't what we was thinking of. We just wanted to block the possibility for him to use redirection-urls to access the site he want's to visit. In this was we want to block ANYTHING that even breathes "pokekartan.se" in the URL, regardless if its the domain-name or in the arguments etc.

This is a problem you'll probably also experience with URL-redirect services such as bit.ly etc.

Please advice of possible solutions.

I’m sorry, your proposed sollution will not work.

adding like www.google.com/?url=www.badsite.com

wil block EVERYTHING from Google. I need to block certain URL’s within that domain.

Enter the link without www.google.com/?url=, only www.badsite.com.

We have done that too without success. Since the url is within the ”argument” and google just does a redirects without SAFE KIDS reacts to it since it’s nested in the url.

ttps://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://pokekartan.se/<etc>

This is exactly how a redirected URL from Google looks like on the phone. Even if we have blocked Pokekartan.se it’s not working.

Hi MRBlupp . Safe Kids doesn't allow to block exact url, but just full domain. The use of wildcards is not allowed too, in order to avoid unexpected blocking issues.

Anyway it's not clear why you don't add pokekartan.se as a Forbidden domain in https://my.kaspersky.com/MyKids/ --> Internet --> Settings --> Exclusions. Whatever is the source of redirection, pokekartan.se will be blocked on your child's device. Consider that there are potentially infinite sources of redirections, not just Google, and it has no much sense to set block at this level.
