Bradb21 Posted February 4, 2013 I have ~12,000 machines running KES8 and my help desk started getting calls about an hour ago saying users were having problems accessing various web sites. I did all my typical troubleshooting and was not able to find a problem and I was not having the problem on my Linux machine that I use on a daily basis. So I went over to some of my lab Windows XP machines and I was having the same problem. I was able to change a setting and tell KES to stop monitoring port 80 and then I could then access the web sites again. I turned the monitoring of port 80 back on and it broke the browser access again. I can not find any logs as to what is going on. I was able to roll the updates back in KES8 on one machine it the browser was working with port 80 being monitored.... so it seems like a bad update or something that went out. I've opened a support ticket, but support is normally slow. I thought I would post here. Any ideas??? FYI: My Linux machine does not run AV software, so that's why I did not have the problem there. bd1000 Posted February 4, 2013 Also having an issue with this. Cannot access internal and external websites. Share this post Link to post
Bradb21 Posted February 4, 2013 I think I was able to fix the problem by turning off monitoring of port 80, 443, and the port we use for proxy which is 8888. I changed the policy on the server and I'm hearing good things.... this is by no means a "FIX". It was a temporary fix at best. Share this post Link to post
kgiddings Posted February 4, 2013 I can confirm the same happened to me as well. I disabled web protection and it worked again. Hoping for a new update that resolves this soon. Share this post Link to post
shillier Posted February 4, 2013 having the same issue here... started about 2 hours ago. Anyone have a permanent fix for this?? Thanks Share this post Link to post
Bradb21 Posted February 4, 2013 Here is the problem I noticed as well... which is not cool. If a machine is having the problem it can not download updates from either KSC or the internet site. So even if they were to fix the update you're machines are kind of hosed. I can't find anything being logged on this either.... which is weird. Share this post Link to post
Bradb21 Posted February 4, 2013 I can confirm the same problem in KES 10. Share this post Link to post
KMelton Posted February 4, 2013 Interestingly, it is only affecting our Windows XP machines. On-line chat w/support said average wait was 50 minutes. Telephone support recording said that they were experiencing EXTREMELY high call volumes... Share this post Link to post
shillier Posted February 4, 2013 disabling the web antivirus in my workstation policy seems to have allowed user to browse again. Very strange. In my case, only google.com was accessible... not other sites including our sharepoint sites, OWA, msn and pretty much everything else was not available. I'm on hold now with enterprise support... and have been for an hour! lol I'm guessing they're experiencing a higher number of calls. Share this post Link to post
Bradb21 Posted February 4, 2013 What a joke... I wish they would just monitoring their forums and maybe It would stop some people from sitting on hold forever. I opened an electronic ticket, but I don't expect a response anytime soon. Share this post Link to post
scott@mountainburg.org Posted February 4, 2013 Same issue here... Seems to effect WinXP only starting with the 10:52am update today. My users could access Google and Yahoo, but not much else. I have disabled Port Monitoring on Ports 80 and 443 and that seems to have my users browsing until a suitable fix is released. I haven't had a chance to open a ticket or get in the phone queue, as I have six remote sites effected. If someone gets an official update from tech support, could you please post it here. iowndu Posted February 4, 2013 Same issues here. Admin Kit 8. Clients 6.0.4.1424 All XP Machines were not able to browse. XP and up were fine. Disabled Port Monitoring and issues are resolved. Has anyone spoken to support yet? what are they saying? Share this post Link to post

nedcipollini Posted February 4, 2013 Same issue with Windows XP machines. Running 8.1.0.831 and disabled Web Anti-Virus to get browsing back again. Windows 7 machines are seemingly fine. Share this post Link to post
jonbyronray Posted February 4, 2013 Same issue here. Started around noon Central time for us. Only XP machines effected. Share this post Link to post
gduck Posted February 4, 2013 Same issue here! KIS 2013, my dual operiting systems, on Win8 working fine, on WinXP web browsers not working! I disabled web protection and it worked again! Share this post Link to post
LHatland Posted February 4, 2013 Same issue. Affected PCs don't seem to be getting the updated policy telling them to stop web protection either. Anybody having success doing it through policy? Share this post Link to post
dallas_ Posted February 4, 2013 I have had success in just turning off "Heuristic Analysis" for the Web Anti-Virus component. Policy > Protection > Web Anti-Virus : Security Level : Customize > Un-check Heuristic Analysis. Best regards, -dave Share this post Link to post
scott@mountainburg.org Posted February 4, 2013 (edited) I've had success going to the policies (both Workstation and EndPoint) for the Managed Computers container and turning off port monitoring for both port 80 and 443, but Dave's option of turning off Heuristic Analysis would probably be the better way of doing it. hmunster Posted February 4, 2013 Same problem here. Disabling the Web Anti-Virus component seems to have worked. Windows 7 computers did not experience the problem. I cannot believe that we left AVG for this. Nothing but problems. First a wonderful 50/50 chance of successful install/deployment, then Network Attack Blocker and now this. Wow. I'd rather have the home user version of Kaspersky on our machines here instead of the bloat that is KES. Well done. Share this post Link to post
jafrance Posted February 4, 2013 Same issue. Seeing if a rollback works. Does anyone know how to disable automatic updates in KES 9? Share this post Link to post
wazzle Posted February 4, 2013 Same problem here on two XP machines- started with symptoms about mid morning today Share this post Link to post
scott@mountainburg.org Posted February 4, 2013 I attempted to re-enable port monitoring on 80 and 443 and just disable Heuristic Analysis in Web Antivirus... This does not seem to work for me. Looks like I have to run with port monitoring disabled. Share this post Link to post
LHatland Posted February 4, 2013 I'm not able to edit my original post, but disabling through policy did finally work. Share this post Link to post
