Can't download Virus Removal Tool

Recommended Posts

Few days back, I successfully downloaded and run the Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool 2011 (free version) on my same computer. But now when I am trying to do it, I am unable to, because:

When I go to the following page, though the page does load, but at the bottom of the window I see the ! sign with "Error on page" :

When I double click on the ! sign, it shows me the following two webpage errors:

Message: Expected identifier, string or number

Line: 17

Char: 1

Code: 0

URI: http://devbuilds.kaspersky-labs.com/devbui...VPTool/index.js

Message: 'urls' is undefined

Line: 781

Char: 1

Code: 0

URI: http://www.kaspersky.com/jquery.all.js

The problem is that when I click the "Download" button to download the Virus Removal Tool, nothing happens.

Fyi, I use IE8. I've deleted history, temp internet files, cookies. I've restarted computer. But problem is as it is. Also, I am suspicious that the computer is infected, because yesterday one dodgy window popped up which said that some kind of shield had been installed (automatically).. and when I tried to "end task" this pop-up window, another window popped-up which showed as if it was scanning my computer's files. I did "end task" to it as well, and since then it hasn't appeared again (bit strange because I didn't perform any actions to kill the infection).

- What is your kind advice on how to download the Virus Removal Tool?

- One more question please. Does the Virus Removal Tool kill only viruses or does it eliminate other forms of infections as well (trojans, malware?)

Many thanks

I am having the same problem of both download links are not working. I have tried it on two computers, last night and today.

I hope they get it fixed today or put up a notice that it is not working.

Hi !

Are there somme special settings I should apply to my navigator? I tried Firefox and IE, and removed all limitations (pop up windows, flash animations, adds...).

The link that is hidden under the "Download" button is :

which is the link to the page currently displayed. That's why when I click on "Download" nothing happens: the page is already there!

There must be something wrong there...

Could anyone help?
