Will I need another license key or can I use the same one as I'm using for KAV?

Are you using official release or beta version ?

Anyway, first of all you have to uninstall KAV from your computer and if you want to try the official release you can find it here:

http://www.kaspersky.com/productupdates?chapter=186437046

If you want to test a beta version and help us to find some new bugs, you can find the latest beta build here:

ftp://kav2006:Fynb02dbhec60@data.kaspersky.ru/

Please note that beta keys only works for beta products.

If you KAV license is from an official release, it can't be applied to trial KIS.

You have to try KIS with a 30 days license, and after that you have to decide if you will upgrade to KIS or get back to KAV.

I have KAV version 6.0.0.303, I guess thats what you would call the official release or the most recent.

I'm definitely not a beta tester, I can wait for the final release of a product.

I'm still interested in trying KIS, I'll give it a try later this week/weekend when I have some free time.

Thanks for your help.

You should be able to try KIS, i could, but some have reported been told "You have already used the trial before". You have nothing to loose, but should IMO perhaps wait untill the MP1 is released.

Well Don, I've been hearing good things about KIS, just never really paid that much attention to it since I already have a firewall along with KAV.

KIS just got the best of my curiosity the last couple days for some reason.

Now that you mention waiting until the MP1 is released I may just do that, its nothing to rush here on my end, as I said more out of curiosity since I already have the AV and I'm completely satisfied with KAV by itself.

I tried them all and Kis was the best of all. I beta tested awhile but said the heck with it and bought the current version. I realize I will get the beta when ready. But I use Kis by itself fully loaded and it allowed me to do away with 3 other products that dragged my system down. Layered? That’s for cakes, not security.

I have been reading tech magazines and do not understand

why it is the Zone Alarm suite keeps being touted as number one

my brother in law had the suite and ran the free scan Kaspersky offers

the ZA suite apparently let through some 250 Trojans.

I myself had Their Pro version however when I ran the scan it showed

one Trojan.having been burned be McAfee before I thought this is

not worth it.to stay on topic here I did not have to wait for anything

I outright bought KIS and during download it totally removed

the Zone Labs product from my system.I looked in files and folders

nothing, not a trace left - outstanding program that it is

I have to wonder why it is KAV and/or KIS is seemly never mentioned

in security related articles.yet NOD and symantec are.

had Norton for a long time too but it is a resource hog

I cannot say enough good things about KIS.great program

For different reasons...the main being money, those you mention can afford to pay a lot of ad's in the very magazines that recommend them. :)

Another reason to add to my list for trying KIS :D

Don hit the nail on the head. Most of those tech mags are nothing but shills for their advertisers. For example, here is some of the garbage from PC Mag:

The Worst Products of Q3 2006

Number 8 - Ewido Anti-Spyware 4.0 (now AVG AS)

Do you think that the fact that Spy Sweeper and Spyware Doctor advertise in PC Mag had anything to do with the test set used by the reviewer and the results? Look around the PC Mag site for other reviews and I think that you will find a pattern (agenda).

If you are looking for a reason to promote KIS, look no further than this:

http://www.firewallleaktester.com/reward_stats.htm

To my knowledge, KL does not advertise with FWLT (gkweb), and KIS still ended up on top of his latest tests (HIPS).

Ron :)
