  1. So far, the latest version of KSWS 10.1 ( https://support.kaspersky.com/ksws10 ) has resolved our issues with backups on the hosts we have applied it to for testing. KES11.1 is still breaking backups where it is in use on 2012/2012R2 hosts. Once we are sure KSWS10 resolves it we will be switching them all over. We are monitoring the backup jobs and will report back if the issues return while using KSWS.
  2. Will licenses for Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business Select or Advanced work for Kaspersky Security 10 for Windows Server, or will we need new / additional licenses?

Recently we have had five servers (across multiple sites, all Windows Server 2012 Standard or R2 Standard) all start to fail their Windows server backups with an error of "Failed to get an exclusive lock on the EFI system partition." Stopping Kaspersky via the Security Center resolves the issue and backups work as normal, but once it is started again the backups will fail. I ran KAVRemover on each server, rebooted, and re-installed the latest KES version ( which seemed to fix it for a few days but they are all now failing again with the same error as before with no other changes being made. Our KES server policy for the same site as the GSI report: KLSERVER.klp I unfortunately can't be more specific in reproduction steps other than what I have outlined above.
  4. I had a customer bring in an HP computer that was having issues with freezing in Windows 10. I resolved those and noticed that their KIS 2015 wasn't working so I uninstalled it and made sure that the "keep activation data" was checked so I could re-install it. However when I go to re-install the software I receive an error that the installation can not be completed. I checked the computer for Malware/Viruses and didn't find anything so I don't think that is my issue. If I run Kavremover to cleanup any leftover files from KIS 2015 will it still preserve the activation data so I can re-install the software?   5. There was no listing for that software in Add/Remove Programs. I searched the drive and registry and cleaned out any reference to the Embassy Security Center and after a reboot of the machine I was able to get Kaspersky installed, thanks!

  7. I have a single workstation that is part of a domain that refuses to successfully install KES 10 MR2. I have tried pushing the application out through the administration server and installing it by copying the package files directly to the workstation. The Administration server says the installation could not be completed because of a fatal error. The local installation attempt simply hangs on "Installing Drivers" and breaks the network connection on the machine until I restart it. I have run a check disk on the machine, ran SFC and found no issues, made sure that there wasn't any malware on the machine that might be blocking installation, and I ran the KAV Removal tool to ensure there were no left over pieces of an old installation that might be causing problems. I have attached the installation logs from the latest install attempt if someone could provide me with some assistance in figuring out what the problem is. kl_logs.zip
  8. My company provides IT support to local small businesses, many of which are interested in the free upgrade to Windows 10, and many of which run KES. Most of my techs have upgraded their workstations to Windows 10 to help familiarize themselves with it so they can do a better job of supporting our clients. I just upgraded my workstation last night and, lo and behold, it's just like with Windows 8.1--Kaspersky won't have a compatible product update for a couple months. Meanwhile, Webroot has been pestering us, trying to get us to resell their software. I've done a little looking into it, and it seems like a viable alternative. We've got a free 30-day trial, and I'm going to have my techs put it on their computers, because not having a professional-grade antivirus product until October is not an option. There's a good possibility this will help seal a partnership between Webroot and my company. I realize that making a comprehensive antivirus product play nicely with a totally new OS is a huge undertaking, but Kaspersky is a big company that ought to have the resources to get the job done in a timely fashion. Come on, Kaspersky--we aren't looking to jump ship or sell our clients on a different antivirus program, but you're not doing yourself any favors by telling us to wait until October.

  10. Web Control in KES10 is causing problems with a few websites at one client's office. I would like to disable it via the Security Center but can't find any settings for it (or Application Startup Control or Application Privilege Control) under the Protection Policy for KES10. I realize I can reinstall KES10 with the Web Control omitted, but I'd rather just disable it temporarily first. Thanks!
  11. We have a client running the most recent version of the Admin Kit and the server and workstation clients. The Admin Kit indicates that protection is off on the server although the server client is installed and working properly according to the taskbar icon. When i check the Applications under properties of the server, it states the following: Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Server MP4 - Running Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows File Server 5.0 - Inactive Network Agent - Running The problem is KAV for WFS 5.0--if I could remove that, the server would indicate its status properly. The thing is that 5.0 is not installed on the server. I've tried running the removal tool and it doesn't detect it. I also tried searching for "Kaspersky Anti-virus" in the registry and removing any reference to 5.0, but all that did was break a few parts of the Admin Kit but not remove KAV for WFS 5.0 from the server's properties. How do I get KAV for WFS 5.0 to no longer show up under the installed applications for this server? Thanks!
