  1. It leaves iSwift3.dat in System Volume Information EVEN after you remove/uninstall KIS using Kaspersky Removal Tool!
  2. Today, I also found out that the so-called Kaspersky Remover (which is recommended tool) leaves some data in some places, like "System Volume Information" folder, and such file iSwift3.dat file in it, and many other files that had been stored there on those days while KIS was installed. I'm so disappointed with KIS! It leaves a lot of forensic leftovers even after running official removal tool! Too bad to me. Thanks for reading.
  3. Hi guys, I have an old PC in my room, that had KIS 2011 (licensed of course) a few years ago and today noticed that my license is now expired as well, so that i wanted to remove the product using recommended tool - KAV Remover, to upgrade to the latest KIS. I used the tool twice to make sure that the removal was intact, running as administrator. The problem is, although i used KAV Remover (Kaspersky Removal Tool) to uninstall existing KIS 2011 product, and although i get "removal was successful" message after uninstallation has been done, what i found is that my computer's registry still contains "a lot of" entries with related to Kaspersky such as some of the following entries can be seen by doing a quick regedit search: Entries containg either with the keyword "Kaspersky" directly or containing the KIS installation path in the past: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{19D9D88E-F9E6-4e93-BE67-FC610A690A77}\InprocServer32 (a lot of CLSID entries containing Kaspersky) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{3E42295C-1558-42d3-85D7-3F0C8695F26D}\ToolboxBitmap32 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\KasperskyLab HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Exchange\Client\Custom Actions (Kaspersky Anti-Spam) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\OutlookKLAsAddin.Addin (Kaspersky Anti-Spam Outlook Add-in) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\Folders (Huge amount of KIS 2011 path variables here...some of them have the data value 1) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions (KavAntiBanner and VirtualKeyboard extensions) HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-4009057337-436270102-2949670341-1000\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\InternetRegistry\REGISTRY\USER\S-1-5-21-4009057337-436270102-2949670341-1000\Software\KasperskyLab ...and there are some more. I also have "sandbox" files on the location: C:\users\All Users\Kaspersky Lab\Sandbox\KLSB1\Device\HarddiskVolume2\Users\my_username\AppData\Local\MICROSOFT\Windows\Explorer The question is, i always trusted official KAV Removal Tool with no doubt when compared to Windows's built-in "Add/Remove Programs (aka Programs And Features), and still i get evidences and registry entries if do a manual search. Do i need to delete those entries manually or re-run Kav Remover again to remove KIS 2011 as it's not been detected by the tool since the uninstallation was reported as "successful"? I'm attaching the latest KAV Remover log file - final. I'm really frustrated and disappointed. System: Windows 7 x64 SP1. Thanks in advance, best regards! kavremvr_2016_10_29_16_16_18__pid_5544_.zip
  4. My main issue was not versioning, i know 2011 is dead, but all KIS (even 2014) has HDD activity problem a bit, as far as i saw on my friends machine. However, decided to uninstall dead KIS 2011 on my system using latest KavRemover to sort out whether continuous hdd activity is caused by KIS. Although i launced KavRemover.exe with elevation (approved UAC), I forgot disabling self-defense, so first removal attempt succeded partially, after next reboot, KIS icon and program files were still alive. Disabled self-defense, and re-launched KavRemover.exe, it did the job as i see. How can i be sure that my current (dead) KIS 2011 has completely been uninstalled?I'm asking this because i'm willing to install 2015 version, and i want to make sure that 2011 was cleaned completely. Here is my current GSI report: http://www.getsysteminfo.com/read.php?file...1494608e7bfba52 edit: bold underlined sentences = Off. We can read all of the content real good.
  5. I run kavremover.exe, it finished removal, and i'm instructed to reboot. Rebooted, but still i see Kaspersky icon on system tray, and files are remaining on Program Files? What the hell? Also, KIS not present in add/remove programs? Did it fail??? EDIT: I re-ran the remover, this time i disabled "self-defense", and after second reboot, the icon and the files have been removed, as what i see. There must be pointed out somewhere that self-defense must be disabled before running remover! ?
  6. But support articles and my previous experiences are telling me that removal tool (kavremover.exe) is the most secure way to clean completely? Anyway, do you think removing KIS will stop this hdd activity? I'm not sure?
  7. Yep that's true, my KIS is really old, i'm keeping it to benefit from some additional tools as stated above. Do you recommend uninstalling it via KAVRemover, can it cure that hdd activity or there's no relation?
  8. Hi guys, I have an "old" KIS whose license has expired, but still i keep installed it on my Windows 7 SP1 box for some purposes like Virtual Keyboad, SafeRun etc even i'm not real-time protected. Despite of not being protected real-time because of expired KIS license, what i've observed is that there's constant HDD activity, i mean, the activity is shown by HDD LED by regular intervals, which is not too massive. Check this video out please (the hdd activity led refers to the one next to green one, on the right, that's blinking with intervals): I'm worrying that is because of KIS, even it's not active, but the modules are installed/loaded on system, so it can cause regular_and_continuous HDD activity which would destroy my harddrive! What do you think about it? Is KIS harmful for the harddrive? Note: I added GSI Report Log with "recommended" level. http://www.getsysteminfo.com/read.php?file...0ea672e4b0cd2b6 GetSystemInfo_ONUR_PC_onur_2014_10_28_20_22_06.zip
  9. Thanks for the reply. The reason of sticking with 2011 is not good i know but it's just because of some installation and stability issues that i've read on forums about KIS 2013. However, KIS 2014 is about to be out. So, do you think KIS 2013 is now mature enough not to have any problems with it?
  10. Hi guys, You all may get me strange but for some reasons i want to ask whether i'm able to extend my current_and_expired KIS 2011 license using KIS 2013 activation key? Is it possible? I heard KIS 2012 keys are backward compatible with 2011 but dunno if KIS 2013 licenses are able to extend KIS 2011 licenses which is currently expired and outdated. Any hint is appreciated. Thanks!
  12. richbuff. Here is my GSI log, i think it's clean, as i said only nba2k11 makes KIS hang either when i run "critical areas scan" or manual scan or on-access scan. http://www.getsysteminfo.com/read.php?file...fbc7733247ecc8f Thanks a lot.
  13. Hi richbuff, i found a GUI bug in GSI and posted the related section, maybe you remember. That's why i can't post Gsi log, however the file and computer are both clean but can't just figure out why KIS hangs while scanning "nba2k11.exe". Really weird. Also, I installed Nba 2k11 to custom location and wonder why it's being treated as "Critical Area" which is my second question. Thanks a lot.
