Is there no way to update from within Kaspersky itself?

No you must remove it from control panel (but first save your license data or key) restart pc.
Next install kaspersky from link above update it manually and do restart again.
KTS is now ready.

Why?
Simply few click and thats it.

You are using a very old version 2018? Probably...

I have to remove: restart: install: restart again

That is horrendous design

It should update automatically and require 1 restart max

I'll see if I have a spare BitDefender license & save the hassle

Thanks

You can do only one restart after remove.
But also after install new version is recommended do another restart for fully functionality.

If you want Bitdefender its your choice. This AV is very heavy but your choice.
On this forum please only about kaspersky products!

Thanks.

No problem, it's the need to do this with every update that is probably why it was not updated for ages. If it's not automatic it's very XP era ?

I'll just drop kaspersky as that is long and cba tbh lol

Thanks again

Probably Your Windows font scale is set higher than 100%... try to go to Display settings in Your Windows, and change/reduce font scale...

Anyway, as already commented in previous posts, seems You have an old version, probably You don't need to uninstall, try to download the new installer and run it, maybe the installation will overwrite the old one.
