Kaspersky Stopped Download from Malicious Source

Recommended Posts

Hello,

This evening I launched Google Chrome dashboard, and I got a notification that Kaspersky had stopped a malicious download. While I'm greatful that it had stopped the download, I have to assume that my computer is compromised, right? I conducted a few full scans by both Kaspersky and  Windows Defender, and they found nothing. I haven't had another download happen yet, but I'm unsure on how to check if I'm 100% safe at this point.
Can I get some help or advice on what to check for next? Thanks for all the help in advance!

Hello @SullySP

Welcome!

  • ?The system is safe, Kaspersky blocked the download?
  1. Reset Chrome browser to default.
  2. Follow guidance Kaspersky notification of detection, file or website detected, by Moderator: Richbuff
  3. Follow guidance, step 9Kaspersky application blocks my website or application. What should I do?, by Kaspersky.
  4. At the completion of all of the above, shutdown the computer, using Shutdown, not Restart, power on, login, recheck the issue?

Thank you?

Welcome.

The analyze on Kaspersky Open Tip is pointing to "Adware and other".

Kaspersky blocked the site before it reached your browser.
The  website is designed with adware and is present in the Kaspersky database of the unwanted sites.
No detection from Kaspersky means your system is clean.

Edit : If your Browser is not misbehaving there is no need to take any action.

@SullySP

In the meantime , from Kaspersky Virus Lab :

"Hello,
The detection is correct.
Kaspersky Lab applications classify the specified objects as Adware and do not identify them as malicious.
The notifications displayed to the user are informative and correct.

Best regards, xxxxxxxx xxxxxxxx , Malware Analyst"
