  1. I've just finished a system restore, bc, April update wiped out 1/2 the system.
    1. MS should remove the word "quality" from any of their updates.
    2. Only thing that saved this situation: weekly restore points & daily system backups, without them it would have been toast.
    3. Next step, reactivating the little "wonder" tool that allows Win (Home) users to control Windows Updates.

Hello rusmikle, Just a bit more info for you: Even if you have a multi-device licence for a primary Kaspersky application, e.g. KAV, KIS, KTS, the KPM module shipped with the primary application is bonded to the single licence, not shareable. In other words, 1 primary K application licence shared across multiple devices not not offer separate, configurable KPM vaults. For each family member to have a private password vault it's necessary to install a separate password manager for each person... That means, either installing a free version of KPM (for each person) or installing a paid version of KPM (for each person)... Free version has restrictions/limitations: "The Free version of Kaspersky Password Manager does everything the Premium version does, but it only allows you to store a maximum total of 15 entries. That’s a maximum total of 15 passwords and confidential documents – like your passport, driver’s license and bank cards – combined. Which means it only offers you limited password storage, and limited storage for your personal data too." https://www.kaspersky.com/password-manager

    Yes, if they know the KPM Master password and there's only 1 KPM vault. Thanks!

  4. Hello Woomera, Thanks for the screenprints. If you've not already done so let's try the following: 1. Export Google Chrome Bookmarks 2. Backup/save Google Chrome Settings/Configuration [User Data Folder] > Windows > File Explorer > C:\Users\(Your username)\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\ 3. Remove Kaspersky Protection Extension > chrome://extensions/ 4. Reset Google Chrome settings to [DEFAULT] > chrome://settings/resetProfileSettings?origin=userclick 5. Export Kaspersky Application Settings > Refer image step(1) 6. Restore Kaspersky Application Settings = resets Kaspersky application to default > Refer previous image > step (2) 7. Reboot/restart PC. 8. Make sure Kaspersky application is active. 9. Manually run a Kaspersky database update. 10. Start Google Chrome. 11. Install Kaspersky Protection extension > https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/kaspersky-protection/amkpcclbbgegoafihnpgomddadjhcadd

    1. I may be wrong, but, I believe the only repository of Kaspersky Chrome Extension/s is Googe Chrome Webstore.
    Re: "maybe why nobody else, such as a moderator has not replied and after Tuesday my questions will be answered by those with the knowledge." I'm not sure if that's a backhanded way of saying I know nothing, I agree, I don't know everything, doesn't stop me from wishing & trying to help others! :) There are Moderators onboard, maybe no-one has answered because the issue/s is/are not clear. Not sure if you've read any other Community posts, if not please read post from Junob8rock, he/she reported the same infection https://community.kaspersky.com/kaspersky-anti-virus-12/solution-gandcrab-5-2-688. Even tho they're using KAV & you're using KSO, (imo) the information would be the same across platforms.
