Operating System: Windows 10 Pro (version 22H2) Kaspersky Application: Kaspersky Plus Issue: Application blocked or disrupted due to false positive detection Hello, I’m experiencing issues using a legitimate application called KeyPress OSD. It’s an open-source tool that displays on-screen keyboard and mouse input, which is particularly useful for recording tutorial videos where viewers need to see which shortcuts I’m using. Unfortunately, Kaspersky Plus flags or blocks it, likely because it's built with AutoHotkey (AHK) — a scripting language that’s often wrongly identified as malicious. The tool is completely safe and widely used in educational contexts. 🔗 AutoHotkey forum thread about false positives: https://www.autohotkey.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=62266 Product Description: KeyPress OSD is an On-Screen Display for key and mouse inputs. It shows key presses in large text on-screen, ideal for accessibility, streaming, or tutorials. It uses AutoHotkey as its scripting engine, which sometimes triggers antivirus alerts. What I'm looking for: How can I configure Kaspersky Plus to allow this app to run normally? Is there a recommended way to exclude a trusted AutoHotkey-based app from scans or monitoring? Should I whitelist the .EXE file, the folder, or the AutoHotkey interpreter itself? If needed, I can attach screenshots showing the detection pop-up or logs. I’m happy to follow all safety best practices, but I also need to be able to use this tool for my work without constant interruptions. Thanks in advance for your support! Best regards, Rafael -
OS hangs caused by excessive use of file descriptors [KES for Linux]
svc_kms posted a blog entry in Kaspersky Endpoint Security's Kaspersky Endpoint Security
Symptoms OS hang, sometimes with open file errors in journals Customer application degrades with errors "unable to open file", "too many open files" Hangs and third-party (compatibility) issues often require advanced data collection and are sophisticated to investigate. However, a quick check is possible: On a system where KESL has worked for some time (not immediately after reboot/restart), validate the output of the following command, ran as root, for numerous records of /usr/bin or /usr/sbin folders lsof | grep -E 'kesl.+DIR.+\/usr\/s?bin' Root Cause Under heavy load, KESL may display linear increase in file descriptors usage (sysctl - fs.file-nr) up to system-wide limit (sysctl - fs.file-max) and eventually degradation. Workaround Schedule restart of KESL service every week/day, depending on intensity of descriptors growth. NB: KESL restart will also reset progress of certain tasks like "malware scan" and "database update". Schedule KESL restart outside of tasks timeframes. Solution This issue was fixed in KESL 12.1.0.1274, so an update to that or newer version should fix it. -
How to Configure Kaspersky Internet Security Safe Browsing for Beginners?
davidjames78 posted a topic in Kaspersky Internet Security
Hi Kaspersky Community, I’m new to Kaspersky Internet Security and want to set up Safe Browsing to protect my online activity (~5-10 websites daily). I’m struggling with the setup. Setup: Kaspersky Internet Security 21.3, Windows 10, Chrome browser. Steps Tried: Enabled Safe Browsing in KIS settings; some websites are blocked unexpectedly. Added a trusted site to exclusions; still getting “untrusted certificate” errors. Ran a quick scan; no threats found. Questions: What’s the best way to configure Safe Browsing for secure internet use? How do I fix “untrusted certificate” errors for specific websites? Any tips for optimizing Safe Browsing on Chrome? Thanks for your guidance! -
WIll Security Cloud Catch / Stop Keyloggers *if* Secure Keyboard Input is disabled and the On-Screen Keyboard isn’t used?
Mouloud replied to always_working's topic in Kaspersky Security Cloud
I have faced an issue which may be related and which is really impairing my hardware keyboard. This is the thing and it is related to the “Secure Keyboard input” and NOT to the “Onscreen Keyboard” When I used the alibaba.com website the “Secure Keyboard input” kicked in when i tried to enter a search. When I shifted to Microsoft Office 2019 applications I noticed that my hardware keyboard froze except for the “enter” and “backspace” keys. I chatted with “Support” and after several attempts, they deduced that the issue was related to the website and not Kaspersky. The best solution offered was to exclude this website from the “Secure Keyboard Input” protection. Which we tested. The result is that after this, only when I revert to the alibaba.com website and type a search without the “Secure Keyboard Input” protection will my hardware keyboard unfreeze. So I kept the exclusion awaiting a better solution. Then something worst happened. Any time I type on any website triggering the “Secure Keyboard Input” my hardware keyboard freezes and only when I reopen the alibaba.com webpage and type a search on it does my hardware keyboard unfreeze on this page and subsequently on the Microsoft Office 2019 applications. You can imagine what this does. I have serious doubts that this website does not tolerate “Secure Keyboard Input” and may have injected some form of keylogger which is affecting “Secure Keyboard Input” altogether. Any Thoughts? -
Virus Scan has not been performed for a long time [KES for Windows]

This article describes what is considered a Full Scan, which affects the KSC status "Virus Scan has not been performed for a long time". Scan task area settings There are two ways to set areas for a Scan task. Tasks started with any other settings (including Quick Scan and Critical Area Scan with default settings) will not be considered as a Full Scan. Primary Kernel Memory Running processes and Startup Objects Disk boot sectors Local disk (logical disk where OS is installed) Alternative Kernel Memory Running processes and Startup Objects Disk boot sectors %systemroot%\ %systemroot%\System\ %systemroot%\System32\ %systemroot%\System32\drivers\ %systemroot%\SysWOW64\ %systemroot%\SysWOW64\drivers\ Path is Case-Sensitive in order to support upcoming Windows features. Selecting "including subfolders" is not obligatory. Successful execution of background scan clears the status of managed host 'not scanned for a long time" in KSC console. -
windows 10 I have a question regarding execution at startup.
Flood and Flood's wife replied to openurwindow's topic in Kaspersky: Basic, Standard, Plus, Premium
Hello @openurwindow, Welcome! Quick Startup has a *limited* list of applications because it's *only* those apps that are starting at boot time -> Kaspersky has designed the Quick Startup tool to enable users to disable any apps in the list that are not essential & or not run daily, that's why it says: Speed up computer at start-up -> please read: Quick Startup. In (your) computer - is there an application that's starting at start-up, that's not listed ? IF 'yes', please provide more details, name of the app, version? Which Kaspersky software version? On Windows taskbar *hidden icons*, rightclick the Kaspersky icon, select About? Which Windows 10 & Build, in Windows Search, type WINVER, select the app & post back the winver information please? The change that (you're) proposing would need to be submitted via a Feedback, I have a suggestion OR I have a complaint *but* first, let's try to understand a little more about the issue by providing more information please? Please post back? Thank you? Flood?+? -
"The website *** may not display correctly" Pop-ups
Zoli_G posted a topic in Kaspersky: Basic, Standard, Plus, Premium
Hi, out of nowhere Kaspersky started showing these Pop-ups at system startup (Windows 11), when I launch a Microsoft office program or from Adobe, I am not opening any website, just Outlook of Photoshop for example. I never seen those pop-ups from Kaspersky before, I havnet done any changes to the system or anything like that, I had Microsoft and Adobe products installed for years along with Kaspersky, so I wonder what is causing it, if its a Kaspersky update, or if I can turn it off or fix it somehow ? -

Hi @Bav, It is desirable to have the very latest database updates all the time, but not absolutely necessary. Kaspersky has extensive capabilities to detect malware as soon as it is launched. This works for a certain time even without up-to-date databases. The latest signatures would be an advantage for a scan, but undetected malware is harmless as long as it is not launched. Then the program control and other detection techniques intervene again. If the scan you start thinks the databases are too old, it will offer to update them first. But they are never really out of date. As soon as your computer is online, your Kaspersky can receive urgent information via the KSN and is therefore informed about the very latest known malware. If you still prefer a quick way for updates, you can create a batch file on the desktop, for example. For the MR21 the command is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky 21.21\avp.com" update Then it's just a double-click...

Hi, I am facing the above detection on some torrent sites like 1337x(.)to and yts(.)mx My windows installation is 11 latest version and Kaspersky version is 21.21.7.384(a), I am seeing that many people with Kaspersky are seeing the above detection and it seems like some common banner advertisement that might be the cause. I had downloaded a file from the same website before the detection occurred, am I at any risk? ADWCleaner, Sophos Scan&Clean and Kaspersky Quick Scan came back as clean. -

I set the update to "After application launch" for test and waited 2 minutes After 10 minutes, there was no trace in the report The problem therefore appears to be a setting in Kaspersky that is causing updates to be buggy I'll retest by restoring all the settings to their defaults, just to be sure

@Flood and Flood's wife I found some information on the Kaspersky website (for older versions) and if I understood correctly, for the "Every hour" setting, If for the Hours setting, it says 10:00 AM and 1 hour for the "Run every" setting, then the search will be performed every hour starting at 10:00 AM (and therefore not before) I don't see what the Postpone.... setting is for if the PC (or Kaspersky) is launched before the specified time Otherwise, I reinstalled Kaspersky 21.21, and the update ran automatically without any problems after installation (with all the default settings) Either the reinstallation fixed the problem, or a setting is breaking the automatic update I set it to "every hour" I had this problem with a software that Kaspersky was blocking. The software's launch was delayed by 1 minute with a disabled setting in K, and only if Kaspersky was closed and reopened Thanks for your help I will see if the problem persists, if so, it will be a setting (or bug with setting) in K therefore

Kaspersky Standard 21.17 [ Bug report page ];
Psiu47 replied to Psiu47's topic in Kaspersky: Basic, Standard, Plus, Premium
There were no discussion I've posted last month. What happened actually for 9 days aprox. at May 12th 'rootkit/background scans' were not saving in the full report page like other scans. So with my old habit everytime these scans were about to happen I've kept tracked the time would start accordingly to my clock and when they would stop by checking how many minutes the last background/rootkit finished. And made a log everyday on notepad. That is how I've managed to keep tracking these scans since there bugging for no reason. And I've thought Kaspersky might be aware, collecting information gathered from their client base to figure out what issue is and get resolved as soon as possible. So I would not bother with another topic about an issue as this since unknown bugs are always related to updates and changes and since KS is set to update daily by automatic. Is an unknown ground which updated blew this off. Yesterday, I've noticed a similar symptom happening when I'd execute a 'quick scan' and when went to check 'full report page', there were no log about that 'quick scan' and the last detail was from another scan. So I have booted the computer and then I've started running path selected, or 'selective scans', 'quick scan' once more and somehow managed to save these reports at 'full report page'. At late last night after several searches and automatic database updates. What I have noticed is at 10:02 p.m. all scans/verifications I have started were being stored at 'full report page'. I may have antecipated with no further study and conclusion which gets a wrong image about my presence. So anyhow, it seems like is back to normal by sort of and if the next it happens another bug. I'll wait a day or two before spreading anything at the forum. My apologies for unwary discussion I should have gathered more information before posting this. -

@MousePadOff Read: Do not Disturb Mode: "If this check box is selected, Kaspersky application does not display notifications about events that occur during video calls, when watching videos, when working with applications, or using the keyboard. Do not Disturb Mode can also pause some automatically started tasks or delay running scheduled tasks to avoid excessive utilization of computer resources." Check Interface Settings, Configure Notifications -> Notify on screen. Navigate to File Explorer, click the "View" tab, and check or uncheck the box for "Show file name extensions". Check in Windows, Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections, is there a LAC, Kaspersky VPN? IF 'yes' uninstall it then shutdown the computer using SHUTDOWN, not Restart, power ON by pressing the power-button, login, recheck the VPN alert? IF it OR any other issues persist & (you're) confident (you've) installed & configured the software correctly, log a request with Kaspersky Customer Service, https://support.kaspersky.com/b2c#contacts - select either Email or Chat, then fill in the template as shown; include a *detailed history*; Support may request logs, GSI, traces captured while the problem is replicated & other data; they will guide you. Is Kaspersky VPN in Windows notifications & actions - after - the uninstall? IF 'yes', turn notifications OFF in Windows. *BEFORE* contacting support - make sure Windows OS / build is up-to-date, with no Beta, Canary, Development & OR Insider Build installed & the Kaspersky Standard version is 21.21.7.384.0.23.0 -> https://www.kaspersky.com/downloads#update-product? *Also* -> IF using Chat - a copy of the chat transcript can be downloaded by selecting Download - otherwise (you'll) have no record of the chat* Please share the outcome with the Community, when it's available? Today, I ran into a rather frustrating issue. After turning on my computer on March 30, I noticed that Steam didn’t launch automatically as it normally does. At first, I thought it might just be an autostart glitch, so I tried opening it manually — but nothing happened. The app simply wouldn’t start. I went through all possible fixes: reinstalling Steam, deleting leftover files, and checking system settings, but no luck. Finally, as a last resort, I decided to temporarily disable Kaspersky. To my surprise, Steam launched immediately. However, the problem persists — every time I restart my PC, I have to turn off Kaspersky to open Steam. This has never happened before, and I have no idea what’s causing it. You might wonder if I changed anything on March 29 that could have triggered this. The answer is no — I barely used my computer that day. There were no updates for Steam or Windows, and I didn’t tweak any settings, either in my system or in the antivirus software. One more detail: Poland switched to daylight saving time overnight, from March 29 to 30. Could that have somehow caused a conflict between Kaspersky and Steam? Honestly, I doubt it — but something is definitely wrong, and I don’t know how to fix it. Additionally, I’m using Kaspersky Plus with active protection and Windows 11 24H2 with the latest updates installed. If you need more information, screenshots, or video recordings, I’m happy to provide them. This issue is quite frustrating, and I’d really like to solve it — especially since I’ve never encountered anything like this before. I’m also worried that Kaspersky might be blocking more applications than just Steam. For now, everything else seems to be working fine.

Keyboard input is blocked for browsers and applications

Blocking Connection to websites without notification/report
Mexican Rose replied to Mexican Rose's topic in Kaspersky: Basic, Standard, Plus, Premium
I don't get any alerts. When I type in my user name & password, the site tries to tell me that my user or p/w is incorrect, which it is NOT. When this happens, I have to pause protection, but that doesn't necessarily rectify the issue. As explained, I have to go through the pains of changing a p/w...but then making sure I use the virtual keyboard. If I've paused protection, then why would the virtual keyboard be working? Frankly this is becoming a royal pain in the neck! One site is protected in "safe money"., but again, if I pause protection...I can't access that site without going through the dreaded steps I've just described. In my second site, I can reach the site...when I attempt to sign in with my username & p/w...I get nothing...so again, I have to pause protection. Ridiculous! alectrautilities.com Ig.ca Sorry I forgot to mention the browsers you made reference to. Yes, it pertains to both Chrome AND Edge. -
Kaspersky blocks the Steam app

It still doesn’t work for me. I have to completely disable the antivirus to launch the Steam application. I tried continuing the conversation with support, but I ran out of patience. I feel like they're either avoiding confrontation or trying to brush me off. -
In view of the fact that support for Win 10 will end in fall 2025, it is time for Kaspersky to launch a Linux version of Password Manager. I have been a customer of the program for years and own a PC that is not Win 11 compatible. I can't and don't want to buy a new PC. My device is perfectly suitable for my purposes but is already several years old. Therefore, I think in the interest of the many customers who use Kaspersky Password Manager and, like me, have no possibility to buy a new PC but want to continue using the program, the company should fulfill our wish.
