Some webpages almost crash computer

Kaspersky Anti-Virus 20.0.14.1085(e)

Windows 10  Home (uk)

Chrome/Firefox

Since a few days updates of Anti-Virus have caused webpages to consume a lot of CPU and they get extremely slow.

Example: Chrome on slither.io to play a game, to simulate the issue, go to the center of the field (map in right bottom corner), then when huge snakes die in the field of view (glowing dots) the game gets almost unplayable (more dots seem to bring down the framerate and the Kaspersky icon is animating although there is no update/scan or other action going on).

When I temporary shut down Kaspersky the game does not get slow.

Other sites (for example Youtube) have the same effect but not that bad.

I'm even thinking about installing different anti-virus software...

Welcome. Did you try to enable/disable : Settings > Performance > “Use Gaming mode”

Thank you for the suggestion, because it helped to turn the feature OFF (!)

By the way, I have a heavy machine (self built) with high-end graphics card and other top specs.
