Malware that can disable protection

Recommended Posts

With Kaspersky (paid or free) is it possible that malware can deactivate the antivirus protection and therefore infect the PC as it no longer has protection?

Or does Kaspersky have such protection that this is impossible even if malware takes away the administrator rights of the PC?

Hello @NDABBRU,

Answering your questions:
  1. This scenario is very difficult to happen, as the malware would need to not be identified by Kaspersky and Kaspersky itself, through its processes (which work at the system level), protects it against tampering.
  2. As I mentioned previously, Kaspersky processes work at the system level (the highest level, even above administrator) and for this reason it is able to block its processes.

As an additional tip: It is recommended that you protect your Kaspersky settings with a password, thus preventing undue changes. To do this, apply the following steps below:

  1. Open the Kaspersky graphical interface
  2. In the bottom left-hand corner, select the gear symbol (configuration)
  3. Scroll down and click on → Interface settings
  4. Scroll down and check the box → Password protection
  5. Click → Change password
  6. Set a secure password and click → Save
  7. Click → Save
Sincerely,

Guilherme
