Kaspersky Secure Connection [KIS Version 2013] not working on Win 7.

Recommended Posts

Hello, I bought Secure connection vpn service and it installs on my win 7, but I cannot run it properly. The icon is there, but I cannot open the app. It runs fine on my laptop with win10. Is there anything I can do?

Thank you

Hello @Allan66,

KSeC has been running on my Win7 machine for years without any problems. I did not have to make any changes to the Win7 settings.

One idea: Is the 'Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8' installed on your Win7 machine?

HELLO! Yes I just installed it.. look there might be a problem in services.msc.. I used to forbid as many processes as I could.. but I tried to allow them and can´t find which could cause troubles.. I am doing it for 4 hours now… it works jsut fine in safe mode.. getting only gray icon on normal load.. clean boot didn´t help.-.. must be something within windows

Ok I tried to set all the services to the safe mode status.. I allowed only that which was allowed in safe mode.. still doesn´t work! This is what it does on normal run.. it runs, but you can´t open it! In safe mode works normally.

As an addendum to @Bernys recommendation:
make sure that the 'Kaspersky Security Data Escort Adapter' is enabled:

I think we aRE getting somewhere! I have the connection disabled somehow.. don´t really know what to do with it tho.. the adapter is allowed.. NO I THINK THE PROBLEM REMAINS IN THE SYSTEM… the kaspersky vpn service in services.msc can´t run in normal mode.. but runs fine in safe mode.

Hi @Allan66,

the picture looks good, the adapter is activated. The red 'X' and 'Network cable has been removed' appears when the VPN is not connected.
In your tray menu 'Enable VPN' is grayed out, this could actually be due to a missing system service.

I would contact support now. They can determine what is going wrong by looking at the requested logs.

Yes thank you Schulte, I just wonder WHY it works in safe mode.. I tried to allow most of the vital services it may require and I still can´t get it to run in regular mode.. I even screenshoted all the services that run during safe mode and which don´t run.. applied to normal start services and still didn´t work.. I don´t get it..

Let me ask you another question:
which AV program do you use? On your screenshot you can assume a red 'K'.

Is the firewall or the application control blocking the VPN?
These components do not run in safe mode.

I really have to thank you for your interest to help me.. thank you very much.

I am running old kaspersky 2013 kis

I have the new version on my laptop but kept this for now.

I tried to run kis in safe mode.. it caused zero problems and also I checked kis firewall.. vpn is in trusted column. This problem might be something within windows… when I try to run the service in services.msc it causes common 1067 error. but in safe mode the service runs fine.

Hello @Allan66,

for support, a KIS update would be needed first.

I also held on to the 2013 for a long time (2014 was too inflexible for me). But today the 2013 is worth nothing. Even the 2021 Free versions are far superior to it.

If you start KIS in safe mode, it doesn't have the functionality as in normal mode. The drivers with system rights were not started and cannot be reloaded.

If you are stuck, you should definitely consider upgrading. The 2021 runs fine on Win7.

Addendum:

please set KIS so that it does not start automatically with the system. The exact position of the option is unfortunately no longer in my memory.
Restart the computer afterwards.
Is there a change?

I completely disabled KIS and also forbid it in services .. even after restart with kis forbidden on start nothing changed :( I just need to find out that one thing which is different in safe mode..
