Kaspersky needs to support better Windows Apps and Windows Store Programs
Bav replied to iJohnnyCash's topic in Kaspersky Security Cloud
Hi and thank you 1) How? I can not access any windows store exes in explorer and have never been able to on any computer, in fact windows won't even allow me to browse the install folders 2) I asked them what to do since send wouldn't work, and I guess it got lost in translation as I did not understand their reply at all. My question was, is there a report file generated to disk somewhere that I can send you, since the automated send feature keeps failing? They did not answer that 3) Thanks 4)The problem is it's not free anymore, it's a dollar now. I offered to buy it for support, happily. I have had it on my system for years and suddenly Kaspersky doesn't like it. 8 second opinion scanners, with full scans that took many hours, all say it's fine (MWB, ESET, Emsisoft, Norton PE, Hitman Pro and others). In fact I disabled Kaspersky as said and enabled Malwarebytes real time protection so I was not "naked" lol, left the app running for half an hour and pressed the buttons on it many times, and then I closed the app and reenable kaspersky. If there was actual malware on my system, Kaspersky would have gone nuts, plus I used it for the last month that kasperskyt wasn't installed, and if malicious, it would have infected my machine. The app is this: https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9p70315qbf2r?hl=en-US&gl=US I believe that because the app is purposely designed to lock the entire keyboard with a click of the button, Kaspersky's behavioural analysis is thinking it's malicious. it's the only thing that makes sense. With reports, I am so sorry, I got upset and I used Revo to uninstall Kaspersky completely as I use that app on many games to instantly disable mouse if I am using a controller, or when I want to wipe the keyboard with a cloth (many times a day due to fingerprints which bother me a lot, it's a dark laptop), so now there's nothing kaspersky left on the machine and I have gone back to malwarebytes for malware/glasswire for firewall/spyshelter for webcam and mic monitoring for now. When I have time I can reinstall KAS and do it all again if it helps. I do appreciate the reply, I really do. I was just frustrated because every time kaspersky blocked it, I could not ignore it, it forced disinfection and it took ages each time. -
Kaspersky blocking logitech keyboard-macro
Slayer12242 posted a topic in Kaspersky: Basic, Standard, Plus, Premium
So I have a Logitech-macro on my left mousebutton that I use in games and it worked fine before I installed kaspersky. Now whenever I'm ingame the macro does not work anymore, I've created exceptions for Logitech-GHUB and the game (Tarkov), but still the macro won't work. :( -
Kaspersky Installation Disabled All USB Input Devices – Cannot Log In to Windows
hega333 posted a topic in Kaspersky Total Security
After installing Kaspersky, all USB input devices (keyboard & mouse) stopped working immediately after booting into Windows. Windows itself boots fine, but since no input devices work, I cannot log in. The issue started after attempting to install Kaspersky. During installation, it gave a message stating that Avira was still installed, even though it had been removed two years ago. I manually checked the registry and deleted two Avira-related entries, but one entry could not be removed. I continued with the Kaspersky installation anyway, and then both of my monitors went gray, and several DLL errors appeared. After restarting the PC, USB devices stopped working completely in Windows, even though they still work in BIOS and in the Windows Recovery menu. Steps Already Attempted (None Worked): 1. BIOS & Hardware Checks: - Keyboard and mouse work in BIOS, so this is not a hardware issue. - Legacy USB Support is already enabled in BIOS, so USB ports are not blocked at the motherboard level. - Tried multiple USB ports (front, back, USB 2.0, USB 3.0), but none work in Windows. - No PS/2 ports available, so that option is ruled out. 2. Windows Recovery & Safe Mode Attempts: - Booted into Advanced Startup (Recovery Mode), and USB devices work there. - Booted into Safe Mode (F4), but USB devices do not work. - Booted into Safe Mode with Networking (F5), but USB devices do not work. - Booted into Safe Mode with Command Prompt (F6), but USB devices do not work. - Attempted “Startup Repair” in Recovery Mode, but it did nothing. - Tried “Reset This PC” with “Keep My Files,” but it failed with the error “Could not reset this PC, no changes were made.” 3. Kaspersky Removal Attempts (Failed Due to No Input): - Tried opening Command Prompt in Safe Mode to uninstall Kaspersky, but no input devices work, so I couldn’t type commands. - Manually checked Kaspersky’s installation folders using Command Prompt in Recovery Mode: - C:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab does not exist. - C:\ProgramData\Kaspersky Lab does not exist. - Manually checked Windows registry for Kaspersky-related services (klflt, klkbdflt, klmouflt, avp, etc.), but none were found. 4. USB Driver Repair Attempts (Did Not Work): - Tried enabling USB drivers manually via Registry in Command Prompt: reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\USBHUB3" /v Start /t REG_DWORD /d 3 /f reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\usbhub" /v Start /t REG_DWORD /d 3 /f reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\usbxhci" /v Start /t REG_DWORD /d 3 /f reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\usbehci" /v Start /t REG_DWORD /d 3 /f reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\USBSTOR" /v Start /t REG_DWORD /d 3 /f None of these commands fixed the issue. - Tried forcing USB driver reinstallation using DISM & pnputil in Command Prompt, but it did nothing. - Checked disk partitions (diskpart) to confirm Windows installation drive was correct, but there was confusion with the drive letters (C: and X: were mismatched). Current Situation: - Windows still boots fine, but I cannot log in because keyboard and mouse do not work. - Recovery Mode recognizes USB, but Safe Mode and normal Windows do not. - Kaspersky is not listed in Program Files, ProgramData, or the registry, but the issue clearly started right after installing Kaspersky. - Resetting Windows fails, so I cannot even attempt a repair install from inside Windows. --- What I Need from Support: - How to fully remove Kaspersky (including any hidden services) without being able to log in. - How to manually enable USB drivers from Recovery Mode. - How to fix the "Reset This PC" failure in case a repair install is required. -
Update deleted Kaspersky Standard and replaced for Kaspersky Free.
MousePadOff posted a topic in Kaspersky: Basic, Standard, Plus, Premium
Greetings. Yesterday just before going to sleep i was surprised with a strange Pop-up from Kaspersky, it said my antivirus wasn't activated and that my protection was disabled. It was odd since my signature will last until october. A quick look made me realize that after a update, the antivirus just expelled my activation key and downgraded back to Kaspersky Free. I entered my account and had to manually disconnect my computer so i could install once again in the same computer. I'm wondering if this will be a recurring problem, because most of the time I ignore all the annoying pop-ups of Kaspersky, but luckily this time i paid attention since the colors had change from the ones i used to see. PS: Second problem, if you have time: How do i get hid of all the annoying pop-ups that Kaspersky seems to be throwing at me? I know about the configurations inside the program, but i only have the system ones activated, all the others about promotions and news are disabled, but i still get a lot of irritating pop-ups every now and then, even when I'm in fullscreen. I remember Kaspersky being all quiet in the computer back in the day, but now it seems that more and more irrelevant pop-ups are appearing on the screen.- 6 replies

quick scan dose not appear in the dropdown list of windows -
I set the update to "After application launch" for test and waited 2 minutes After 10 minutes, there was no trace in the report The problem therefore appears to be a setting in Kaspersky that is causing updates to be buggy I'll retest by restoring all the settings to their defaults, just to be sure

@Flood and Flood's wife I found some information on the Kaspersky website (for older versions) and if I understood correctly, for the "Every hour" setting, If for the Hours setting, it says 10:00 AM and 1 hour for the "Run every" setting, then the search will be performed every hour starting at 10:00 AM (and therefore not before) I don't see what the Postpone.... setting is for if the PC (or Kaspersky) is launched before the specified time Otherwise, I reinstalled Kaspersky 21.21, and the update ran automatically without any problems after installation (with all the default settings) Either the reinstallation fixed the problem, or a setting is breaking the automatic update I set it to "every hour" I had this problem with a software that Kaspersky was blocking. The software's launch was delayed by 1 minute with a disabled setting in K, and only if Kaspersky was closed and reopened Thanks for your help I will see if the problem persists, if so, it will be a setting (or bug with setting) in K therefore

little window for safe keyboard input
S.E. posted a topic in Kaspersky: Basic, Standard, Plus, Premium
Hi, I'm not sure wether this is the right forum or the right english term for it, but I have a problem with that little window that opens whenever I try to enter something into a searchbar. As seen in the screenshot, it completely blocks a large part underneath the searchbar for no apparent reason. A lot of the time it blocks auto completion or other stuff for several seconds, making the work process slower. I think I don't have to be reminded that the secure keyboard input is active everytime I want to enter something. Is there a means to have that box toggled off? -
Hallo!

Hi, since I now have a 10 seat Kaspersky Premium license, I wanted to install it on the Mac. BUT, I use Little Snitch, and although kaspersky mac doesn't have the firewall, it has a network component that was incompatible with little Snitch many, many years ago. I use Little Snitch religiously as it's the easiest app on Mac, period, to get internet connection outbound access alerts. And the beauty is that it has a perfect set of default rules to allow the OS and safari to function, so you really only get alerts as you install new apps (or if you genuinely have some spyware or malware or something). It's not the end of the world, I will keep using Malwarebytes on my Mac if Kaspersky still doesn't want to co exist with Snitch. However, I thought it would be nice to have kasapersky, as unlike MWB, it deals with windows malware on the mac also so you don't accidentally spread it to others, as well as real time scanning whereas MWB only deals with Mac malware and ONLY if it tries to execute. Unlike Windows, there is no quick simple system restore on Mac, and Time Machine takes ages for something like this. So would be great to know up front if anyone knows! TIA!

Hello @tistou77 Only quick addition : Kaspersky checking for updates after 15 minutes of windows start (when you see background) after 15 minutes will automatically update databases and then every 2 hours.

Today, I ran into a rather frustrating issue. After turning on my computer on March 30, I noticed that Steam didn’t launch automatically as it normally does. At first, I thought it might just be an autostart glitch, so I tried opening it manually — but nothing happened. The app simply wouldn’t start. I went through all possible fixes: reinstalling Steam, deleting leftover files, and checking system settings, but no luck. Finally, as a last resort, I decided to temporarily disable Kaspersky. To my surprise, Steam launched immediately. However, the problem persists — every time I restart my PC, I have to turn off Kaspersky to open Steam. This has never happened before, and I have no idea what’s causing it. You might wonder if I changed anything on March 29 that could have triggered this. The answer is no — I barely used my computer that day. There were no updates for Steam or Windows, and I didn’t tweak any settings, either in my system or in the antivirus software. One more detail: Poland switched to daylight saving time overnight, from March 29 to 30. Could that have somehow caused a conflict between Kaspersky and Steam? Honestly, I doubt it — but something is definitely wrong, and I don’t know how to fix it. Additionally, I’m using Kaspersky Plus with active protection and Windows 11 24H2 with the latest updates installed. If you need more information, screenshots, or video recordings, I’m happy to provide them. This issue is quite frustrating, and I’d really like to solve it — especially since I’ve never encountered anything like this before. I’m also worried that Kaspersky might be blocking more applications than just Steam. For now, everything else seems to be working fine.

Hello, I suppose it can be the known Bug 5657225: [SUPPORT] Mouse and keyboard does not work after reboot (patch i appliance) It is related to our filters, which write in registry its values - only Windows OS can be affected. In most cases there was desinfection procedure + patch appliance. The problem will be fixed in next product`s version. Here are the list of steps, which can help to resolve the problem(highest workaround is easiest one): 1. Use USB-Recover tool: https://support.kaspersky.com/14221 to restore default mouse/keyboard filters values. USB Recover tool is based on KRD18(Linux OS), so keyboard and mouse must work within BIOS and this OS, because they are not related to Windows and its registry filters. 2. Use System Restore. It can be run from Recovery mode: https://www.ubackup.com/backup-restore/windows-10-recovery-mode-1021.html Also you can run command prompt from this mode and delete keyboard and mouse filters manually: 3. Or manually delete Kaspersky values from registry: Reboot PC - Troubleshooting - CMD - open regedit - delete klkbdflt and klmouflt values in UpperFilters from the following path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM1\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4d36e96b-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318} HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM1\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4d36e96f-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318} The last one - is the hardest way to restore keyboard and mouse and it is better to do not use it, if you are not Advanced user of PC(skills of work with Windows registry is required). Thanks. P.S. We have had the problem with keyboard and mouse filters before(in 2016 and after), but it were single cases, which were related to kavremover utility, improperly installation/uninstallation of Kaspersky products, customer`s registry problems etc.

How to set Kaspersky Plus to launch upon startup.
Mexican Rose posted a topic in Kaspersky: Basic, Standard, Plus, Premium
I have tried several times to figure out how to set my Kaspersky Plus to launch upon startup. There are instructions out there on the internet, but in the "security" area, there are so many places...& cannot figure out which one to use. I always purchase Kaspersky products & have never had a problem with any, however this one is really confusing me. I think it important that the app launch upon startup, otherwise how would I know if I'm protected. Thanks in advance!!! -
I installed Kaspersky Total Security today, with a one year subscription. However, after it did a scan and restarted the computer, my keyboard and mouse have stopped responding. I tried other keyboards and mice, both wired and wireless as well but it did not work. But they still work on the biOS screen of the pc. I could not find a recovery boot option. So I would like to have help with this.

Intermittent Freezing/Display Issue When Switching Applications

Try pressing [Print Screen] key in Your keyboard, then open Paint app -> File -> Paste -> Save. -
Hello. I just installed Kaspersky internet security and right away my Lenovo yoga 7i keyboard stopped working. Tried several methods before finding the registry method. Problem is, I follow all the steps, I delete the "klkbdflt" entry from the registry leaving only "kbdclass". I hit ok. Then when I close the registry, it comes back as it was: both entries appear in the UpperFilters. What do I do now? Please help, I need this machine for work. When I change it: When I open it again:

REMOVE the "Secure keyboard input is enabled" popup!
BlackEdition replied to BlackEdition's topic in Kaspersky: Basic, Standard, Plus, Premium
I may be late but you can actually disable this feature. Go to settings and search for "secure keyboard input", click on it, then the settings for this feature will open. Just uncheck to disable it and click save. My complaint in the thread is that I want to continue using this feature without the annoying popup showing up every time. This feature is supposed to "help protect your data from keyloggers", so there's no reason why someone should disable it, except that annoying popup forces us to disable this feature completely. I've been living with that feature disabled for many years because of the popup. Note: This feature is different from On-Screen Keyboard. The settings for both are available on that same page. -
Does Kaspersky install its own mouse or keyboard drivers or change mouse/keyboard registry settings anymore? I read there were some issues regarding this in the past. And why would the software have to do any such thing? Excuse my ignorance but I’m a noob at antivirus. considering switching from Norton to Kaspersky. thank you

Kaspersky blocks the Steam app
Slayni replied to Slayni's topic in Kaspersky: Basic, Standard, Plus, Premium
It still doesn’t work for me. I have to completely disable the antivirus to launch the Steam application. I tried continuing the conversation with support, but I ran out of patience. I feel like they're either avoiding confrontation or trying to brush me off. -
In view of the fact that support for Win 10 will end in fall 2025, it is time for Kaspersky to launch a Linux version of Password Manager. I have been a customer of the program for years and own a PC that is not Win 11 compatible. I can't and don't want to buy a new PC. My device is perfectly suitable for my purposes but is already several years old. Therefore, I think in the interest of the many customers who use Kaspersky Password Manager and, like me, have no possibility to buy a new PC but want to continue using the program, the company should fulfill our wish.

Intermittent Freezing/Display Issue When Switching Applications
John1509 replied to John1509's topic in Kaspersky: Basic, Standard, Plus, Premium
@harlan4096 Further Update: I've conducted more testing and have narrowed down the trigger for this issue. It appears that Kaspersky does not freeze or stay stuck in the foreground when performing a Full Scan or a Quick Scan. However, the problem consistently occurs when a Background Scan is running. As soon as a background scan initiates, Kaspersky becomes unresponsive to attempts to switch to other applications, remaining in the foreground. This strongly suggests that the "Background Scan" process is directly related to this window focus/freezing bug. Hopefully, this more specific information will be helpful in identifying the root cause. Thank you again for your assistance.
