Why is the Kaspersky Chrome extension killing page load speed?

Recommended Posts

When I try to scroll through most pages using Chrome the Kaspersky extension causes page loading and scrolling to slow down so much that Chrome becomes unusable. Why? I have deleted the extension now and Chrome works fine now. (So I guess I'm better off without the extension).

I am having the same problem all of the sudden. If I disable the antivirus, my logins etc are normal speed but with it enabled, it takes up to a minute to log in to sites I use regularly? I have downloaded the GSI and will forward it as soon as its done running

Hello Essenjey, Thank you for the data. Unfortunately some of the files are inaccessible. Would you be kind please and upload the entire GSI.zip folder and Windows logs (select upload file but select *,zip folder), to cloud storage and post back the link please? Thank you!
Since you didn't like the zip folder I uploaded to DropBox, please advise on a specific FREE cloud storage provider that I should use? Also, why can't I simply send the zip file directly to support?

You can. FREE cloud storage: MegaDrive, GoogleDrive, IceDrive, OneDrive, .Myairbridge.

Also, in addition to what FLOOD indicates in the post located above this post, As FLOOD mentioned previously, one file is missing from your GSI.zip. We need the GetSystemInfo.zip that usually is automatically included inside the GSI.zip.

Try turning off network encryption scanning: In Kaspersky: Settings > Network settings > Do not scan encrypted connections Also see if your web scanning isn't up so high too: In Kaspersky > Settings > Protection > Web anti-virus settings > Recommended.

Ditto. This has now had to be disabled here. It's been a problem for the last month or so. Originally I though it was Chrome 74 but the problem remains with Chrome 75 and disabling the Kaspersky extension certainly fixes it. Here at least. it affects only "advertising heavy" sites such as this link. But I encounter a lot of them in a normal day. Possibly it is affected by the specific ads being loaded so I guess results may not be 100% reproduceable. You can hear the CPU, indirectly via fan speed, ramping right up and after 1 or 2 secs of opening the page scrolling becomes almost impossible. Eventually the "page unresponsive" dialog will typically appear. Uninstalling/reinstalling Chrome and the Kaspersky plugin does not help. Sadly, the extension is unusable right now.

Welcome. There are two courses of action. One is to post your GetSystemInfo report here, so forum users can help, and the other is to Contact Tech Support. 1. Please post your GetSystemInfo report link, instructions: https://support.kaspersky.com/common/diagnostics/3632 Please upload the GetSystemInfo zip folder that is inside the larger GSI zip to the GSI parser site http://www.getsysteminfo.com/ and post the url to the parsed report here, in your next post. 2. Please contact Tech Support: https://my.kaspersky.com/support/ Please attach the following items to your Tech Support request: a. Description of the issue. b. Screenshot, as needed. c. GSI
