@nexon

Thank you for your reply.  We are on the same page.  The link below might interest you and others . . .

We are in 100% agreement.  I know that it is not proper Forum "netiquette" for newbies to criticize, but sometimes, as at the Bitdefender and Malwarebytes Forums, an obvious issue should not be ignored.  It has been my sad experience that security providers are highly territorial.

You can also check me out on the Bitdefender Forums. I got into more trouble than I ever expected when I suggested MB as a complementary security solution . . .

The primary concern should be encouraging maximum cybersecurity for all computer users.  No one security solution does it all, though Emsisoft tried . . .  It uses the Bitdefender antivirus engine, which ironically detected Emsisoft itself recently!

I think that I am going to be very happy here . . .  I do really like Kaspersky.  Every product can use tweaking, but I don't see all of the reports of unresolved bugs and the high CPU usage that BD is infamous for and has not yet resolved.

By the way, I am really impressed with how quickly the Moderators moved my duplicate topic. Congratulations!  That is impressive.

Have a great day.  Glad I finally saw the light and moved to Kaspersky. . .

Regards,
Phil

It's too late now to check me out on the Bitdefender Forums. I requested to have my BD Forum account removed, and that was done early this afternoon by Alexandru_BD, the BD Forum Administrator.  For the record, I had 1,290 points and was ranked #5 in the list of top ten posters, which appears to the right, as well as the listing for "Defenders of the Month."  When I checked earlier, I was still listed there for my April contributions.  You can check with Alex to verify my statements.

Back to the issue at hand . . .  I don't see a Forum here for product suggestions.  They had such a Forum at BD: Product Features and Ideation.

This is not really a Support issue since Kaspersky is working as designed.  So how do we users submit product improvement suggestions?

Please pardon my stupidity.  I have only been a Kaspersky user since Monday afternoon.

And since I am asking stupid questions, I cannot see a way to create a detailed user profile here.  When I check, it tells me my profile is 100% complete, but there is basically no information about me as of now.  I also don't see the capability to add a user signature.

OK, that's enough stupid questions for one post.  Great to be here.  I like Kaspersky better every day.  I wish I had seen the light sooner. 🤷‍♂️

Have a great day.

Regards,
Phil

Suggestions for new product features are sent directly via official K. Support: K. Support filling in the form, selecting FeedBack option.

User details in user profiles in this Community are minimal, I guess by design 🙂

Also, no option for signature 🙂

Some popular themes like KPM for Linux (created by user) is now verry popular...

Your suggestions you can post on my.kaspersky.com (your account)

@nexon

Thank you for your prompt reply and assistance.  I am off to my account to do just that.

It is regrettable that they don't have a special Forum for Product Improvements where Forum members can comment and vote yea or nay.

You are right.  It would be a great improvement to the Forum and demonstrate that K management is listening to their users.

Have a great day.

@nexon @harlan4096 ,

Thank you both.  I was coming back to post that I could find nothing in my KP account for feedback, but @harlan4096 resolved that for me and answered my remaining questions about member details and signatures.

Thank you both.  Off to do the K Support thing.  That's probably a bit bold for a newbie, but they might like converts! 😉

Have a great day.

Phil

I have submitted the following Feedback to K Support:

Цитата

I am a new convert from Bitdefender Total Security (BDTS).  I used it for ten years.  I am a former Bleeping Computer Response Instructor (UNITE-certified) and classed as an "Expert" at the Malwarebytes Forums.

KP informs me that I have an incompatible app: Malwarebytes Premium (MBP), which I ran for ten years with BDTS, with the appropriate exceptions in both programs.  You can read my Forum post here:
https://forum.kaspersky.com/topic/malwarebytes-considered-incompatible-with-kaspersky-44946/#elControls_171251_menu

I know that MBP is NOT a genuine anti-virus, despite their advertising.  I also follow good security advice.
https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/407147/answers-to-common-security-questions-best-practices/#entry2413189

I AM the customer.  I have read the KP Warning.  I have considered the KP Warning.  I, the customer, have decided that I am not going to diminish my computer security by following the recommended action to remove MBP.  That IS my decision.

The Warning is not dismissible. I can dismiss all other Warnings and Recommendations, but not this one, which is in my face every time I launch KP.

This computer is not YOURS.  It is MINE.  I CHOOSE how I want to configure my security.  KP is NOT my nanny.  I SHOULD be able to dismiss that Warning.

By the way, MBP is now up to Version 5 and has been for some time.  Your Warning only mentions MBP versions 3 and 4.

Please give users the option to dismiss that Warning.

Just for the record, I wish I had switched to KP long before now. You have an excellent antivirus program—outstanding, in fact—but please respect the users' choice.

Respectfully submitted,
Phil

I will keep you posted.  Have a great day.

Regards,

Phil

Good afternoon.  I got a speed response from K-Support.

Quote

Dear customer,

Hello Phil,

Appreciate you getting in touch. Please be informed that the use of Kaspersky along with incompatible software (such as other Anti-Virus software) may cause errors in the applications and the operating system.

I am afraid that warnings about incompatible software cannot be disabled. However, we've escalated your case to higher-tier support for further advice. We'll reach out to you as soon as we hear back from them.

Thank you and have a great day.

I will keep you posted.  Have a great day.

Just so that you don't think I am a "heretic," I would like to share some thoughts . . .

Kaspersky security products are second to none, in my humble opinion, after only a few days' experience with KP, and I have used many security products over the years. I am 71 now and started with computers back in 1988, in the days of DOS 3.1. I am delighted to have finally found Kaspersky Premium. It is an outstanding product, but there are always minor quibbles . . .

On the subject of Malwarebytes, I have two lifetime licenses.  I am sure that I would not pay the outrageous prices for Malwarebytes Premium (MBP) now.  I would keep Malwarebytes Free, as I advise my customers to do, and I would run weekly scans or scans when I thought it necessary, as I do now with MBP.

Malwarebytes is good, the best, at what it does.  It targets PUMs, PUAs, PUPs, browser hijackers, etc.  I classify those as "nuisance malware,"  but they DO seriously interfere with computer resources and with the users' enjoyment of their computers.  Genuine antivirus programs tend to largely ignore those nuisances.

Malwarebytes is not a true antivirus solution, despite their deceptive advertising.

https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/311423-scanning-pdf-files-for-malware/?do=findComment&comment=1633149

That reply was written recently by the current most prolific volunteer on their Forums.  I can cite another MB Forum member's opinion from a few years back, written by another one of their "top guns."  MB Forum management doesn't dare take down those posts.

Have you looked at the AV-Comparatives Lab test results?

https://www.av-comparatives.org/tests/summary-report-2023/

That crew is universally accepted as the best there is for objective, unbiased testing of antivirus products.  Do you see Malwarebytes even listed?  Even Microsoft submits its Windows Defender for testing.  They do not do badly, but we all know Kaspersky took the "Product of the Year" award last year, which is why, when I left Bitdefender, there was only one choice for me.  Kaspersky has been consistently in the top five for years now.

Why is it that MBP isn't being tested by AV-Comparatives?  Does the AV-Comparatives Lab not regard their product as a genuine anti-virus, OR is it because Malwarebytes doesn't want to get clobbered and undermine their deceitful advertising as a genuine antivirus solution?  You can answer that question; I have.

In answer to the question: if I had to choose between KP or MBP, which would it be?  The answer is obvious: Kaspersky.

I was deemed a "heretic" at the BD Forums for my well-founded opinions.  Cybersecurity is all about layers.  When I was disinfecting computers as a BC Malware Removal Specialist, no final topic was concluded without an MBAM scan.

https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/407147/answers-to-common-security-questions-best-practices/#entry2413189

I am introducing myself as a new member, but I also wanted to create this post so that I could use it to link to when K-Support Tier 2 contacts me.

And so, back to my basic point: we, the users, should be able to dismiss that "incompatible software" warning.  Even BD was not that territorial.

There are a lot of external links in this post.  I am sorry but I guess I am going to keep your Moderator busy! 😉  Way better than the BD Forums, where you could not even post a screen image until you were "Level 2" and including links required the permission of their Forum Admin.  These Forums are far more civilized.

Let us discuss whether "Mother" Kaspersky should issue us a Warning that cannot be dismissed.   Let us also hope that she will allow us to create a Forum here to discuss product improvement suggestions.

I'm sorry for being so verbose in this post. 😢  Brevity is regrettably not a component of my character. 🤷‍♂️

Regards,
Phil

Direct links are not allowed here inside posts/threads to avoid spam, also signatures were surely banned in user profiles for the same reason, in previous K. forums signatures were allowed long years ago, but Mods had constantly managing to remove external links there  🙂

Hello @garioch7, Phil,

Welcome back & also, please read the Guidelines, any commentary of a political nature is out = a big no-no. image.thumb.png.6806fc372c9f99f5904aa8dd3432ff69.png

The Guidelines are helpful; also be aware there are unwritten rules, should you be so unfortunate to encounter same at some stage, don't be surprised; sometimes it's do as 'i' say, not do as 'i' do -> if it's bad go to Forum admin otherwise scroll & roll.

Enjoy your time in the Community. We're enjoying your posts.

Thank you🙏

Every second word about MBAM. Please stop. This is kaspersky forum not MBAM..

You wrote that you are experienced in many forums but you need learn basics on forum.

If antivirus is not included in av comparatives test that means company of anitivirus dont want test it because they know that it is in poor shape (means bad protection, or mabye bad performance, many false positives etc)..

I really dont want mentione a company bud i remember one german company was verry popular 20 years back...

But now is missing in tests (still exists company but in tests is missing) why? Read above...

As we wrote every antivirus have a special part (kaspersky have great detection behavioral, ksn cloud, Quick detection, anti ransomware detection etc)

@nexon,

Please accept my sincere apologies for breaking the Forum rules. I intended no harm and did not wish to cause any offence.

I was only trying to make the point that the warning should be dismissible.  I also made it clear that I would always choose to run a genuine antivirus program like Kaspersky if I had to choose.

I am going to take the advice of @Flood and Flood's wife and carefully read the Community Guidelines.  I should have done that.  My apologies again for that oversight as well.

I appreciate your patience.  Thank you, and have a great day.

Regards,
Phil

@Berny,

Thank you for your welcome and your understanding.  Please give me a swift kick if I go afoul again.  I think I now have a better understanding of what is acceptable here.  Thanks to @Flood and Flood's wife for their educational post.  I have now read the Community Guidelines/Rules.

I do have a question, though.  Reference was made in the Guidelines to more latitude in the Kaspersky Club, so I went and looked.  It was all in Russian.  Is there an English version of that Club?

Have a great day.

Phil

Hello again @garioch7, Phil,

Originally there was, and its resurrection was promised on more than one occasion, sadly, to date, that has not happened.

Thank you🙏

@garioch7 I am glad you have stated that 'Malwarebytes is not a true anti-virus'. This is one major reason I run MBam and Kaspersky side by side.

As I stated on the MBam forum (as BeeGeemb, it fills in any possible holes missed by either MBam or K. (I have a legacy license for MBam).

After reading your response on the MBam forum I enabled the Real-time protection on MBam and have seen NO issues arise from that action. As of this writing both are running just fine with no warning pop-ups from either program.

Other then the little notice within the Dashboard of K, (which I can ignore) all seems to be well.

Should I go back and remove Real-Time Protection to prevent a slow-down??

I've not really noticed a slow down.

@katseye,

I can only relate my weeklong experience.  I have been monitoring my Task Manager.  Combined, K and MBP apps use less than half of my computer resources, with the exceptions enabled in both, and MBP told not to register in the Windows Security Center than my former BD antivirus solution used all by itself.

As it is my computer, I plan to continue running both products with real-time protection enabled in both products and I will continue monitoring my Task Manager.  I am also going to continue to ignore the K warning and hope that K will modify their software so that I can dismiss that warning.

NOTE: This is contrary to the official stance of Kaspersky.  Proceed at your own risk.

Just my two cents.  Have a great day.

Regards,
Phil
