All detailed information is provided above.

So, where are the tests? AV-TEST, AV-Comparatives, MRG Effitas, SE Labs, and so on all have nothing for this fake antivirus.

Hello everyone. I heard about this story and decided to test this antivirus to find out if it is good or bad.

Here is the video for anyone who wants to see the test results: https://youtu.be/AB4oZXaa4tI&list=UULFUNyU0HewM1JQVVKMAEAfyQ

Ps.: The video has subtitles, title and description in 8 languages. So that anyone can watch and understand what is being explained.

Wow, an abysmal performance by Kaspersky UltraAV. So much for Kaspersky being all about providing the best protection shown by independent tests. Their own software may have been developed to that point in order to increase market share profits, but it obviously wasn't with any regard to being good for users, or they would not have spontaneously delivered a fake antivirus worse than McAfee or Windows Defender. And they absolutely could have chosen to do prorated refunds instead, if partnering with a legitimate antivirus for transition wasn't an option.

We got what we did because it's all about the money with companies these days. Gone are the days of companies operating by a moral compass based on ethics and what is right for the customer rather than their own wallet... which is why the world is currently a dumpster fire. Greed is the number 1 factor of this.

In addition to the disaster of how this transition was handled, has anyone noticed the number of files the Ultra AV/VPN software installs on every single one of you drives? If you have multiple drives for various types of data, like I do, they each become littered with files from Ultra AV. As a dev, there is no need for this. It's reminiscent of malware and reeks of devs that don't know what they're doing. I've used a dozen or more AV solutions over the last few decades, and I've never seen anything like this. I've never had a reputable AV solution install dozens of files on every single drive.

This AV/VPN alternative they gave us is a joke and Kaspersky should have migrated us to another known and respected provider.

Is there any way we can get pro-rated refunds for our remaining subscription time? I'm not happy root access to my computer was handed over to a third party without my consent. I don't think it was even legal to assign our subscriptions to a third party without consent. It really seems like Kaspersky was caught flat footed and didn't have a proper market exit strategy.

Help!!!  My Kaspersky software says it has expired even though I was on auto-renew, and my computers were NOT updated to Ultra.  I am now VPN-less.  I received a notice a few days ago about being upgraded but was never received anything from UltraAV nor was my computer automatically updated.  My Kaspersky VPN has reverted to the free version with limited use but it is unable to connect to it's chosen server and I am not able to select a server.  I am behind the bamboo curtain.  I can pay with Unionpay card if need be.  No U.S. money involved is OK I think.

Hello @mrbuseco!

The ability to buy, renew and download products at usa.kaspersky.com is suspended. The ability to make purchases via other websites may also be limited for users visiting from the US and US customers. Non-US customers may purchase and renew apps at kaspersky.com and their local websites.

That doesn't really help me but I understand you cannot do much more given where I am and my birth country.  However, if we can get either the no downgraded version to connect in "free mode" or get the UltraAV update I could get back to doing what I need to do.

I was able to download the ultraav software.  I am configuring it now.  Probably okay now.  I appreciate you helping.  I wish I could keep using Kaspersky but it's not like my government listens to the working people.

Honestly, UltraAV is not good at all. It has poor detection, tons of false positives, massive system impact, and causes regular blue screens. If your Kaspersky subscription already expired, consider yourself lucky for not being ripped off by having part of your paid subscription switched to UltraAV. I would suggest using Bitdefender, ESET, or another reputable antivirus instead of UltraAV.

This is how to get rid of it...Revo didn't even locate it.

Dig around in C:\Program Files\Ultra AV folder. There is a program in there called UAUninstaller.exe.
Run that...eeeeeeeasy peasy. Killing off processes via Task Manager didn't work. Revo didn't work. Programs and Features when prodded didn't list it.

The only reliable way, it seems, is to use the above method. After that if you feel like being a completist, do a "regedit" if you are computer savvy and search for all instances of "UltraAV" and "UltraVPN" and blast them out, 1 by 1.

I am finally rid of it all. You're welcome. 🙂

I woke up Thursday morning to find UltraAV on my PC and didn't know what it was or where it came from.  A quick search of the name and I was able to figure out what happened from all the irate people that were in my same situation.  To say I am beyond disappointed in Kaspersky is an understatement.  I swore by your product for almost a decade and was pretty pissed off when I found out about the US forcing you out of the market.  That said, this little stunt with UAV destroyed any sympathy or good will I had for you guys.  My PC crashed 8 times in two days and locked-up or failed to reboot countless times.  Attempts to roll back to restore points failed, attempts to restore a backup image failed.  I lost 1/2 a day from work screwing with the PC until finally I was able to boot it into safe mode and remove that abomination of an AV utility.  I now get to lose my Saturday tomorrow doing the same on my kids and wife's PCs.  I cannot stress in any more plain English than this move royally pissed me off.  Please fire any bone-headed executives or managers s that approved or followed orders to execute such a stupid action without so much as a popup asking people if they were OK with installing a third party's utility.

UltraAV caused many of my programs to crash.  Tried everything.  Tried contacting support.  Takes at least 24 hours to respond.  Hired an IT person.  It was just easier to purchase new software and delete that headache from my computer.  What a disaster.  I guess kaspersky knows how to give a Bronx salute. Should be renamed UlcerFU.

If Kaspersky was worth a damn they would offer any customer who wants it a pro-rated refund. Instead I get stuck with software that I never asked for. I don't care what the government has decided. I am a paying customer and have been for years. I feel like I have been stolen from, even if this decision gets overturned I will never use this shady company again.

I've been a satisfied Kaspersky customer for 10+ years myself and I was also not happy with the replacement software so I uninstalled it and switched to another provider. Regular windows removal was enough to do the job for me for both Kaspersky & Ultra AV (they were both running simultaneously). I hope that's enough and thorough for a complete removal of the software.

I was lucky because my license for Kaspersky was gonna expire in November anyway, and I did not have auto-renew so at least I didn't really waste money. I would be furious if Ultra AV tries to renew somehow though.

UltraAV's customer service consists of waiting forever for a chat agent that files to claim to an escalation team "that will get back to you via email" and never does after a week+ of waiting.
