Hello, @rufford155
Reid’s Hotel in Madeira
This website? https://www.belmond.com/hotels/europe/portugal/madeira/belmond-reids-palace/
It seems No problem related to digital certification issue at all. is it?
Regards.
Well there won’t be a problem if you start at Belmond itself who have the certificate.
But when you have reached Reids Hotel, bookmark that page > close browser > reopen browser > Find and click your Reids bookmark.
What happens then ?
-
But it’s not just that website - it’s lots of them !
I had a good example yesterday, Reid’s Hotel in Madeira that KIS didn’t like. The certificate was issued to Belmond who are the parent company that owns the hotel and therefore by implication the website.
But KIS is not able to recognise cases like this which is why there are so many false positives.
I was going to post the certificate here but I discovered today that, having clicked through to the site anyway by accepting the risks, KIS no longer flags it up - so it seems it does at least remember my previous choice.

- One
- KIS 21-2-16-590(b)
- Sorry, I can’t be bothered
You seem to think there’s something wrong with my set-up when clearly KIS is over sensitive and giving false positives.
I am ending this thread and going to support.

Both GoDaddy expiry dates are the same as yours.
There is no GoDaddy in the intermediates.
Kaspersky personal is 2030.
-
The details just say the certificate is invalid - it’s the standard thing every time.
I have already posted the certificate in my OP.
What else do you need ?
Flood - I know about the other threads and I even had one of my own about it before.
I know I can exclude the affected sites but when it keeps happening it’s just a damned nuisance and I don’t want to stop the checks altogether as KIS might just get it right some day.
I’m beginning to think no-one believes it’s KIS that is over-enthusiastic and needs toning down when it’s clear it is producing false positives.

Hello @rufford155
Also in additional to what @richbuff said, Which browser do you use when KIS report website certification error?
Regards.
Edge

What does the error message say?
It said this :-

Here we go again !
Previously this happened when following links in emails - this seems to have been fixed - now it’s happening when going from bookmarks.
I don’t believe there is anything dangerous about the site madeiracablecar.com.
What I do know is that ontales.com is a company in Madeira operating tourist activities so it is more than likely that it runs or even owns the cable car, or maybe they just manage the website.
So again we seem to have a case of KIS being over-zealous and just a nuisance.
Please don’t tell me again that this certificate is illegal when there is a clear connection to the owner.
Maybe KIS needs to better understand how companies work in Europe and the UK.
-
This has happened over a dozen times in emails from trusted senders with links to trusted websites belonging to large, well-known UK companies.
Are you suggesting they are all using illegal certificates ?
I’m sorry but that’s difficult to believe.

Thanks Berny, I guess I will do this but it’s all a bit of a pain.
I still think KIS is being over-zealous.
As I have said before, this happens with links in emails but not from bookmarks so I think the problem is third party sites associated somehow with the link.
But as the said email is from a trusted sender, which KIS knows, then surely it should also trust links within it ?
For example, in one email from “t.email.specsavers.com”, which is trusted, the offending certificate was issued to “*.adobe-campaign.com” !!!
I may still send a complaint cum suggestion to support.
-
I am getting lots of spurious warnings about incorrect certificates for website that I know are perfectly safe.
I am fed up with this over-zealous, or plainly incorrect, behaviour by KIS.
Is it possible to disable this feature ?
Thanks for advice.
-
Well it’s still happening !!
I don’t understand why almost every website link from an email gets this certificate warning when going to exactly the same website by any other way is no problem.
It has to be a bug in KIS doesn’t it ?
-
I’m sorry Berny but I don’t understand what you are telling me here.
BTW, I’ve realised the Kaspersky extension was not in Chrome yet since it was first time use of the app on a new laptop.
So, almost certainly a Kaspersky problem.
The only good news is that I had an email from Kaspersky about renewal and the links in that worked perfectly !
-
Hi Berny,
In the reports there are 6 attributed to Edge and 1 to Thunderbird (I have switched to Outlook since though).
The websites are as follows : Airbnb; Classicshell; Surfright; Lakelandlimited; Gocompare; Tenforums; Specsavers.
These are all genuine sites that are normally reachable
Attached is the warning relating to Specsavers and the certificatre in question.
I switched to Chrome and there was no problem !
So is it an Edge setting? Although the warning is from Kaspersky !
-
I am getting this warning EVERY time I click on a link in an email - even from trusted contacts - and no connection can then be made.
However, if I go to the same website from my browser bookmarks then there is no problem reaching the site.
This started 2 or 3 days ago - no settings changed - so what’s going on ? Thanks.
Version 21.2.16.590, Outlook (Office 365), Windows 10 Home

Thanks Igor, I have submitted a request for help.
-
Flood:- It was NOT set to change every 180 days.
petsy:- Password were the same - and they still are after changing as they demanded.
So the reason is still a puzzle.
-
Yes, I used “Forgot password”, it was not difficult just a hassle.
What I am asking is - why did I have to do it when there was no problem the previous day?
-
This is my third post this week about KIS problems.
Yesterday I logged into this Community with no problem.
Today it said my password was wrong and I had to reset it.
Is this some auto-feature introduced to force new passwords?
Or is there some other reason ?
-
I went to My Kaspersky website today to change my password.
It said my KIS subscription is broken, or words to that effect, and I cannot get updates - but I am still getting them with no problem.
And it said I only have one device when I have two, one in UK and one abroad.
What’s going on here?
And how can it be corrected?
-
Email from Kaspersky-mail today had a link to “4 ways to royally leak your company data”.
Clicking this gave the attached warning - certainly not expected from your own email !
What should I do ?
-
Thanks again Berny.
Didn’t realise there was no PDF version any more.
-
Thanks Berny, missed it somehow !
-
I have a downloaded KIS User Guide from 2016 which must be well out of date now.
I cannot find the equivalent for KIS 2020 anywhere !
Am I missing something or is it all online now?
Thank you for any advice.

Thanks for that and I’m glad you are managing it, as I am too.
But I’m pleased to find someone on here who actually believes me !
