Weak Settings wrongly state, that file extensions not displayed

Windows 10 Professional x64 22H2 (Build 19045.3324)
Kaspersky Plus 21.14.5.462

Your Weak Settings Scan state, that Windows extensions are not displayed in file names, and offers to fix it.

You are wrong. My first action in every Windows after installation - uncheck "Hide extensions for known types". I see all extensions in File Explorer and file open dialogs.

If you incorrectly detect the problem, I cannot allow you to fix it. And cannot believe to another recommendations.

Weird, I have also that setting disabled (-> always show file extensions) in all my systems, and in none K2021 21.14 detected that wrongly 🤔

I can confirm mahris's comment. Same here for in Win 7, Kaspersky 2023 Premium v21.15

I always run show everything mode.

  1. Is File name extensions checked or unchecked?

IF *your* Kaspersky application is *misreporting* reset it to Default, followed by a full Shutdown of the computer, if that does not work, uninstall & clean install the software, if that does not work, log a request with Kaspersky Customer Service.

Yes, "Flood and Flood's wife" - the box is unchecked so full filenames are shown. This isn't my first rodeo btw...

It's also a fresh install anyway, so that M$ style of reply isn't helpful. Hint.

The *fresh* install information was not disclosed, you have a habit of doing that.

Having just bought a new Win 11 pc, I find that the exact same issue exists.

Kaspersky says file extensions view is NOT enabled when it is, as it's a setting I have ALWAYS enabled for security reasons.

Time For Kaspersky to fix it.

Pop-up stated incorrectly that file extensions are not shown.

Kaspersky Premium, application version 21.19.7.527(b)

See attached screenshot. Trace also available.

Please acknowledge, as I don't know whether the forum is the right place to post bug reports -- but it seems to be the least inappropriate of the choices on the Contacts page.

  1. Traces cannot e submitted to the Community portal, due to a Kaspersky guideline -> to protect all Kaspersky users privacy & security
  2. Please log a request with Kaspersky Customer Service, https://support.kaspersky.com/b2c#contacts  - select either Chat or Email, then fill in the template as shown; include a *detailed history
  • *Also* -> IF using Chat - *before* ending the chat -> ask the operator to email (you) a copy of the chat transcript - otherwise (you'll) have no record of the chat*
