Hey, i have a small service, where people send my telegram bot images/gifs/videos, the bot download and open and modify these files sent to it, is there a chance i will catch a malware? i am using Internet total security, will it stop any hidden torjan/.exe/etc.. from sneaking in?

I already have total security subscription on my device that's why i am asking this

dont worry. usually a media file dont contain malware.

but a malware could disguise as a media file.

for example.

a photo.jpg.exe may lore victim to run it when you forget to check its real file type.

rare software or system vulnerability , like a zero day exploit, cause a media file which contain malicious code do harm to your system. that is rare but will happen.

so

you should program your bot only process media file. check file extension before execute.

and keep AV running and updating.

I have made it to check the type of the files before checking it, only if it's one of these .png .webp .jpeg .gif .mp4. it can run it, if it is another type it won't but i am just saying in case this ever happened

is there any test fake virus like these i can create to test it out? if it is getting through? i just want to make sure i am safe, that's why

Hello @Flank

  1. Have (you) tried WICAR, it's similar to EICAR, it has thirteen tests available.

Thank you🙏

Hello @Flank

Also, we've all read the question, perhaps - try re-wording it - IF four Community members do not provide the answer (you're) seeking - maybe (you're) asking the wrong question OR - as @andrew75 said, contact Kaspersky Customer Service

*This is (your) original question:

  1. To answer the question - is there a chance i will catch a malware?

Yes, nothing is 100% foolproof or guaranteed.

2. Observation, there is no such Kaspersky product as Internet total security

As @Berny already stated Kaspersky has a very high detection rate.

& do (you) actually have a *problem* with Kaspersky software: the Forum of Kaspersky product users was created for the purpose of resolving issues encountered while using Kaspersky products.

Thank you🙏

I am using Kaspersky software, that's why i am asking over here, not sure why you getting mad and triggered, thank you for your amazing customer support.

My question was clear and easy to understand, if you guys just want to drop any answer you guys could have told me to contact customer support, thank you, never coming back here again.

Edit: The forum moderator just reacted with "Thanks" to my complaint here. Nice! Keep it up, and you guys will have no clients soon, sending an official report about this childish behavior.
