Hello, i`m going to switch KSC from Windows to Linux,

To avoid unnecessary rules transfer, i decided to config everything from scratch. Now i want to test it, and i have a question about licensing options.

I`m planning to use klmover, can i switch only one managed device to the new KSC server - is it possible (devices licensed with the same license bundle on two different KSC servers) ?

Other option is to get sometime limited trial license ..may be?

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Best Regards!

Initially, install KSC on Linux, apply a license, and uncheck the "Don't auto distribute license key" box. Next, create a KLMover task to move endpoints from KSC Windows to Linux; avoid going into production until you're successful on a single workstation. Finally, create a change "admin server task" to switch the KSC of managed devices from KSC Windows to Linux.

Please tell me why you intend to move KSC from Windows to Linux. Maintaining KSC in Linux presents many difficulties, including numerous troubleshooting issues and a lack of community support due to the limited deployment of such a schema.

The server is quite old, and out of resources.

Тhe web console has а lot of (visual) improvements in recent years as i see.

Thanks for the tips, Best Regards!

@dggbg hello

You can use the same license for additional servers at the same time.

With a minimally configured system, we can manage KSC with numerous devices. Since Microsoft SQL Server uses a lot of memory, you can switch to MariaDB, which uses a lot less. With 8 GB of RAM, you can easily manage 500–1000 workstations. and there are some optimizations to make KSC more efficient and use fewer resources. You can get Web Console in Windows too. latest version of KSC is 15.1 in Windows.

For optimization, performance issues, or excessive database resource load, refer to the following instructions:

https://support.kaspersky.com/ksc/15.1/troubleshooting/other/16021

Hardware specifications for the Administration Server and DBMS can be found at

https://support.kaspersky.com/ksc/15.1/92567

It is my recommendation that you do not switch to KSC Linux. Please let me know how many workstations you are managing with KSC, the version of KSC, SQL Server, and the system configuration of KSC Server.
