Kaspersky Lab Launcher uses more than 20% of CPU when laptop is idle!

For some reason, Kaspersky Lab Launcher is using too much of my laptop's CPU! more than 20% of all time whether I am doing something or not. Is this the norm here? if this is the case then this is truly inefficient tool to use.

Ok, I moved this thread to the proper section.

Check if there are Windows Updates remaining in Your system to be installed, if so, then reboot the system to be applied.

Also, do You have any other security application installed in the system?

Additionally, check in the Windows taskbar K icon if there is a background scan running...

In which country region are You? there is a new K. line of home products 21.14, with Your KIS licence You would be able to migrate to K. Standard.

1- This happens even after multiple reboots

2- No other security applications were installed.

3- Checked and nothing was there to display.

4- I am from Bahrain.

@nickfl,

Welcome to the Kaspersky Forums.

I purchased Kaspersky Premium in early May 2024.  Before that, I had been using a competitor's product for almost ten years.  As @harlan4096 has stated, that is normal RAM consumption for Kaspersky (150 to 250 MB on my computer).  The old product I formerly used liked to consume a minimum of 850 MB of RAM!  As @nexon has stated, there will be fluctuations depending on what you are doing and what Kaspersky is doing in the background to keep you safe.

I have used many AV products since 1988.  Kaspersky is, BY FAR, the least resource-intensive AV solution I have ever used.  I recommend Kaspersky to everyone.  I wish I had "found it" sooner.

Have a great day.

Regards,
Phil

@Berny,

Indeed, weird.  I am not seeing that in my Task Manager.  Moreover, is not the current version 21.17.7.539(b)?

Since we have no place to include personal profile information, could it be that we have yet to receive 21.18 here in Canada?  Most companies stagger new version rollouts to catch bugs early.  I have no idea where you are located.

It would be nice to be able to add some personal information to our profiles and perhaps even have signatures . . .  🙏

Have a great day.

Phil

Version 21.18 is gradually being rolled out. You should get it via your internal updater soon. By the way, it hasn't arrived here yet, either. Anyway, I'm not in a hurry.😀

BTW I never get it automatically (I always uninstall and install new). But now let it on automatic because I need anti spam module which is in MR17 and MR18 doesn't have anti spam.

Kaspersky Premium 21.18 for Canada is available here → https://www.kaspersky.ca/downloads/premium
Please  proceed with an on-top install + reboot.

signatures . . .

Signatures were available on the previous Forum , however after some exchanges with Forum Admin this option has been removed which was a  self-evident decision ... 👍

@Berny,

I got Version 21.18.5.438 today automatically.  The update deposited a Kaspersky Password Manager shortcut on my desktop (did not want that - removed it), and it also turned off my Kaspersky and Kaspersky VPN icons from appearing in my system tray, which I did want and have restored.  It would be nice if automatic updates respected user settings and preferences.

"Self-evident decision" to whom?  Most Forums permit "signatures" with strict rules that are enforced.  Perhaps, to allay the concerns about spammers who are relentless, the permission to have an optional signature might be based on post count, coupled with individual Moderator approval . . .

The optional ability to populate a member profile page with personal details, computer specs, and OS, as well as the installed version of Kaspersky, might also be based on the above criteria.  As it is now, unless a member specifies what current version of Kaspersky s/he is running, we have to ask since all four of the current versions (Basic, Standard, Plus, and Premium) are lumped under one Forum.  It would also be a bonus if those members who wish to share their geographic location could do so.

I have only been a Forum member for close to three months now, so there may well be discussions that I have not found that address these suggestions.

I hope my suggestions do not offend anyone.  No criticism is implied or stated.

Have a great day.

Regards,
Phil

@garioch7 Welcome back.

To keep it short (Off-Topic) :
The Moderator Team had to remove on a regular base "signature abuse" with e.g. pub content & pub links/useless/inadequate/stupid quotes. Also , we systematically mask or remove personal details on this public Forum and when needed we refer to Read before you create a new topic!

@Berny,

Thank you for your reply.  Sorry for being off-topic.  Thank you for your explanation.

I personally prefer a more "open" Forum, but I am only a guest here.  Have a great day.

Regards,
Phil
