And it's also saying that my subscription was "canceled", although I never did that  (I'm currently running "Kaspersky Plus 21.18.5.438(a)", with a databases "release date" of 10/4/2024 at 6:01pm).

@CarynG Welcome.

Can you please provide your geographical location.

Well, dang- that's not good!!  (But it looks like I may be out of luck, if this is due to geopolitical forces outside of our control- oh well...) 😞

There are other great AV products out there that have detection rates similar to that of Kaspersky. AV-Comparatives is a good independent website has a good list of AV software they test and compare

Well, this sucks!  I don't trust the other products.  Before I found Kaspersky, I used a few of the other "popular" products out there, and had nothing but trouble with them, and the viruses they did NOT block destroyed several of my computers.

NOW WHAT?

Through this public forum, it's not permitted to recommend specific competitor's products. I'm not sure which you tried, but there are a small few that consistently have comparable testing numbers to Kaspersky on the AV-Comparatives tests

Just change the update end point to something like

http://s11.upd.kaspersky.com/

should work :

I'm trying to update my database but having issues. I click the option to update but it processes the request then goes back to saying that it's out of date. I tried this but databases are still saying "out of date". Is there any other ideas that I can use?

It's possible Kaspersky might be blocking US IP addresses since they're not allowed to do business in the USA anymore. You could either try it through a VPN connection, or purchase another anti-virus product

So there was an Kaparsky email that said current subscriptions will be transferred to US counterpart company AV(?) When do we get that information on this process as I bought a 2yr subscription that runs to 2026 earlier this year. Do I have the option of canceling my current subscription since it now seems to be useless with them blocking aspects like database updates, etc.?

Hello @Hendo73

Welcome!

  1. (As far as we understand) the email that was sent - is the information. Please read this featured comment, from Kaspersky @Vadim N, in topic by @viper69UltraAV software no notification, Automatically Installs, and Can't Remove it!!
  2. The Kaspersky subscription / license will keep functioning until the original expiration date; please read: Guide on Kaspersky software availability in the United States, Subscriptions and automatic renewal. *Kaspersky have a 30-day-money-back-guarantee*
  3. Some US based subscribers have successfully been using Kaspersky, since the migration, via VPNs - there's lots of tips in the various topics.
  4. To cancel a subscription, please log a request with Kaspersky Customer Service - https://support.kaspersky.com/us/b2c/us#contacts -> on the support page, select either Chat or Email, then fill in the template as shown - note: select (your) Kaspersky Application (A); please include a *detailed history*.
  • *Also* - IF using Chat - ask the operator to email (you) a copy of the chat transcript *before* ending the chat - otherwise (you'll) have no record of the chat*image.thumb.png.1c05ff531b887f7ad2d7d053ec889564.png

Please share the outcome with the Community, when it's available?

Thank you🙏

@ Kasersky, if you can't honor the contract we paid for and update our databases in the US, I would like my money back for the product. How do I go about getting this?? It's essentially useless now and I have lost 7 months of protection because of this.

I hope politics enforcing these restrictions change soon. “As for me and my household…” we’re in for the long haul. For my geographical resident neighbors, I hope we all can find ways to continue using superior software. It may take more than changing leaders who enforce restrictive policies onto us consumers. Imagine how many competitor companies are endorsing such restrictions and all the… “reasons”😉… for how restricted *we* are from making free consumer choices. Those companies will welcome us—or—we can find different available ways to use superior technology. Good luck! 🎁

Some US based subscribers have successfully been using Kaspersky, since the migration, via VPNs - there's lots of tips in the various topics.

I am not a computer wiz.  I am in California and my computer won't update the Kaspersky software since September.  I have Kaspersky Total Security which includes VPN - but I never activated or used it.  I have another year on my paid subscription.  Can I use the Kaspersky VPN by activating it and get the software to update???

Hello @bluejay

Welcome!

  1. It appears other US based Kaspersky subscribers have been successfully using VPNs to do what (you) wish to do; however, the *original* Kaspersky Total Security *includes* Kaspersky Free VPN - which has a daily data allowance of 200mb OR 300mb IF (you) connect to (your) MyKaspersky account *once* via the VPN software.
  2. Kaspersky's VPN provider is outside of the USA & appears to be excluded from the ban.
  3. Kaspersky's VPN is not listed in the Guide on Kaspersky software availability in the United States
  4. (ioo) 300mb daily *may* be enough for daily Kaspersky database updates - however - IF Kaspersky was to distribute a new version OR a big patch there could potentially be a problem with such a small daily allowance.
  5. Our advice would be to *also* research *other* free VPNs, there's many good reputable ones, that have good daily allowances.

Any questions, problems or issues, please post back OR contact Kaspersky Customer Service - https://support.kaspersky.com/us/b2c/us#contacts

Thank you🙏

K‘s VPN is highly probably also cease operation.

you may need another third-party VPN.

also you should be aware that KSN query need continuous connection. you may need to enable VPN all the time.

user experience would be bad......

Hello @Xzz123

Thank you for your comments!

  • According to @Danila T., Kaspersky's VPN is excluded:
  1. Kaspersky's VPN provider - Pango - is outside of the USA.
  2. Kaspersky's VPN is not listed in the Guide on Kaspersky software availability in the United States

Thank you🙏
