I can't update windows 10 1803 to 22H2 because I have Kaspersky installed.

Following Microsoft's suggestion I downloaded the update ISO of my windows 10 home 1803 to windows 10 home 22H2.

After hours of installing update to 22H2 appears:

Undoing changes made to your computer.

We couldn't install Windows 10
We've set your PC back yo the way it was right before yo started installing Windows 10.
0x8007042B - 0x4000D
The installation failed in the SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during MIGRATE_DATA operation

Potential windows update database error detected Not Fixed

Then following Microsoft sugestions I do:

Settings / Update and Security / Troubleshoot

sfc /scannow --- then restart windows

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth --- then restart windows

chkdsk /f 😄

In C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\ find and delete pending.xml

Uninstalled all the startup items:

3-uTools: DONE, Proton-VPN: DONE , Zoog-VPN: DONE, X-Mouse: DONE, Cobian Backup: DONE, NetWorx: DONE , Wifi Guard: DONE, UltraCopier: DONE, Panopreter: DONE, iTop Screen Recorder: DONE, Jet Brains ToolBox: DONE, Volume 2: DONE

Zentimo deleted startup via CCleaner

A new Restore Point created.

Kaspersky disabled.

No internet.

After all of the above I tried to do the update again and got the same error.

Following microsoft I downloaded and ran setupdiag.

And to my surprise it turns out that it is Kaspersky that is causing me to not be able to update, as you can read in the results.xml file:

<FailureData>0x8007042b-0x4000d Error: SetupDiag reports Migration Gather/Apply operation failure.Last Phase: Pre OOBE Boot Last Operation: OOBE boot applyMigration Operation: applyMigration Obejct: HKCU\Software\KasperskyLab\AVP21.140x8007042b-0x4000d Error:  5</FailureData>

And the proposed solution is:

<Remediation>Recommend you move or delete the object specified "HKCU\Software\KasperskyLab\AVP21.14" and try the update again.</Remediation>

I attach images and relevant files with the results of the setupdiag, the windows version and the Kaspersky version.

It looks like I'm going to have to uninstall Kaspersky in order to do this update. I hope to be able to install it later.

We hope that this report will help you to remedy this situation, which is likely to happen to many of your customers, and we also look forward to your response to this report.

Thanks in advance,

Octavio Baez Hidalgo.

After uninstalling Kaspersky the installation ran ok and I already have Windows 10 version 22H2 installed.

By the way the uninstallation of Kaspersky I had to do it with the kavremvr.exe, last version just downloaded, even when this KAVremover did not automatically recognize the installed version, but testing and testing one of the options worked and uninstalled the Kaspersky of the version I put in the image.

On the other hand I ran all the suggestions that Microsoft sent me, as I described above.

The link you send is to do an online update which I can't do because my connection is too slow, but otherwise it runs in the same way as downloading the ISO that Microsoft suggests and installing from it as it allows the updates and wizards to be online, which is what I did. It is Microsoft who says so, not me.

I have no doubt that Kaspersky was responsible for the non-installation, did you read carefully the results.xml that I put in detail?

Thank you very much for your suggestion,

Octavio.
