I can no longer use the Password Manager on any Chrome-based browser. It started with Chrome itself, then moved to Edge, and now on Brave.

I've already uninstalled both the antivirus and the password manager itself, but it didn't work

Hello @russewelt

Welcome!

  1. What is the *actual* error , what is happening - all you've shown is an image of the password generator?
  2. Which OS version & build, read: How to find the version of your operating system?
  3. Which KPM version, in Windows Taskbar -> hidden icons, rightclick the KPM icon, select About
  4. Which Anti-virus *name & version* was uninstalled & reinstalled, read: How to find the name and the version number of a Kaspersky application?

Please post back?

Thank you🙏

Hello @russewelt

Thank you for the information & we're very sorry for the delay responding!

  1. At the time of your response: 23H2 22631.3374 - was in preview release
  2. At this date: 10th May 2024, KPM is now at v 24.0.0.428 / 1712576387_7582 / 1.1.0.2_1.
  3. At this date: 10th May 2024, KPM extension is at: v24.0.128.1.
  4. At this date: 10th May 2024, a new version: 21.7 has begun a *silent*, staggered, global, distribution, it may not have reached (your) computer as yet, do not worry, when it does you'll not know until it's been sitting silently in the background for 7 days / 168 hours - IF after the duration of that period, the computer has not been rebooted - the blob on Kaspersky + main GUI will turn yellow, the new version will send a notification to the K+ Notification center, another notification to Windows Notification center & the Kaspersky *icon* in Windows *hidden* icons will turn red - in essence all these notifications will tell you there's a new version & to apply it - reboot the computer. IF the computer is rebooted anytime AFTER the new version arrives & BEFORE the 7 days expires, the new version will be applied = you will not have any pre-warnings that this is happening.
  5. Moving to *now*, please advise, is the current OS still the same as it was March 31st, 2024, 23:37 = 23H2 22631.3374
  6. Ditto for the KPM version?
  7. Ditto for K+?
  8. Are Autosave & Autofill enabled?
  9. And finally - does the " no integration between KPM extension and KPM application", when using Firefox - issue persist?

Hello @laurelp52

Based on the details you've provided, it looks like the Kaspersky Password Manager (KPM) extension is not integrating correctly with the KPM application, which could be causing your issues across the different browsers. Here are some targeted steps to troubleshoot this problem:

1. Verify Kaspersky Password Manager Settings

  • Open Kaspersky and navigate to Settings.
  • Under Protection, find Password Manager and make sure that the integration option is enabled.

2. Reinstall KPM Extension

  • Remove the KPM extension from all browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave).
  • After removing, reinstall the extension from the official Kaspersky website or the browser’s extension store.

3. Check for Conflicts in Extensions

  • Ensure that there are no other password management extensions installed that may conflict with KPM. Disable them temporarily to see if that resolves the issue.

4. Check Windows Settings

  • Ensure that there are no restrictions on the application or browser through Windows settings. Sometimes, Windows Defender or other security settings might block integration features.
  • Go to Settings > Privacy & security > Windows Security > Virus & threat protection > Manage settings and ensure that the necessary permissions are granted.

5. Test the Integration in Other Browsers

  • Since you mentioned Firefox shows integration, check if KPM works correctly there. This can help determine if the issue is isolated to Chrome-based browsers.

6. Windows Compatibility Troubleshooter

  • Right-click the Kaspersky Password Manager application icon and select Properties.
  • Go to the Compatibility tab and click on Run compatibility troubleshooter to see if Windows can suggest settings that improve compatibility.

7. Update Kaspersky Software

  • Kaspersky Plus version 21.16.6.467 is relatively recent, but check for updates. Sometimes a patch or update can fix integration issues.
  • You can check for updates within the Kaspersky application under Settings > About > Check for updates.

8. Kaspersky Support

  • If the issue persists, consider reaching out to Kaspersky Technical  support directly. Provide them with the version numbers and a detailed description of the integration issue; they may have specific fixes or insights.

9. Reinstall Kaspersky Plus

  • As a last resort, completely uninstall Kaspersky Plus and KPM, then reinstall both. Ensure you back up your data beforehand.

10. Check Event Viewer for Errors

  • If you're comfortable doing so, check the Windows Event Viewer for any error messages related to Kaspersky or the browsers when trying to use the Password Manager. This might give you clues about what’s going wrong.

Conclusion

Integration issues between the KPM extension and the KPM application can be frustrating. By following the steps above, you should be able to narrow down the cause and hopefully restore functionality. If none of these steps work, contact Kaspersky's Technical support directly with any screen shots and error codes may be your best resource for a solution tailored to your setup.

Thank you
