I boot my PC everything is fine. after a couple of minutes, Disk Usage of the PC goes to 99-100%. The Kaspersky Lab launcher ("avp.exe") has something between 20 and 60 MB/s under disk usage. If I close Kaspersky, the disk usage goes down again. If I start kaspersky again, disk usage is back at 99-100%.

What is happening here?

I let the PC run some time now, and usage went down again. will continue to monitor the next days. Maybe tracing is active when it is 100%, I only checked it now when it was back at basically idle, and tracing was not active.

Also, this is not a normal behavior, can You provide the versions of K. product installed?

Additionally, You may try to disable in Scan options, this one:

So far the PC hasn't run at 100% disk usage again, neither yesterday evening, nor right now the next morning. will continue to monitor. I suspect now, whatever it was, it was a one-time-thing only, and by shutting down kaspersky and/or the PC in the middle of it being 100%, it was just interrupted and continued to do whatever it did until it was completed.

For completeness, I use Kaspersky Standard 21.19.7.527 (b)

It did it again (does it right now as I type). I deactivated the backgroundscan as suggested but didnt change anything. still at 99-100% hard disk usage

And it went down again after I think ~15 minutes. the only thing I did was that I noticed that kaspersky found an update for one of my installed programs (7zip) which I just started downloading in the very moment it stopped. But I think that is just a coincidence

What was the size of that zip You was downloading?

I think I might have found the issue.
I have a pretty big music collection. and I have two different copies of certain artists and albums, one which I use locally and one which I maintain for the collection on my phone, which I sometimes sync between my pc and my phone.

and by using windows' resource monitor, and the disk usage I noticed that there is some disk usage regarding those MP3 files. So I deactivated that duplicate search in kaspersky and it immediately went down to basically zero usage.

sooo... why does kaspersky use goddamn 100% of my disk space when it searches for duplicate files on my PC? I mean, I have it deactivated now, but can't kaspersky do that literally in the background without using all of my disk capacity?
