Problem encrypting USB drive, won't complete.
RouseA replied to RouseA's topic in Kaspersky Total Security
Update: I left a PC encrypting a 512GB USB drive before I went away for a couple of days. The computer locked up, so I could do nothing with it. When I returned KTS was reporting that the encryption had failed. I was unable to access the drive until I removed it the re-inserted it. It has a file named Password Protected.kde (which is the name I configured). When I clicked on it KTS asked for the password, which I entered. This opened a window saying the drive needed to be formatted, which gave every indication that it was the standard Windows formatting, so I expected the whole drive to be re-formatted. Formatting was very quick. However, Windows Explorer then showed a new drive Removable Disk (Z:), size 488GB. I am able to read and write to that drive, and it appears to be encrypted. It would appear, therefore, that KTS has successfully encrypted to drive, after some indeterminate time, even though it reported that it had failed. -

RouseA replied to RouseA's topic in Kaspersky Total Security
I had already checked the drive. It is formatted in exFAT. I am able to save files to it, so I don’t think there are any problems with it. Yesterday I ran ScanDisk to confirm no errors. I ran CrystalDiskMark to confirm the read/write speed. I also ran ChkDisk to confirm that it funtioned correctly. ChkDisk takes a long time to test 500GB so I stopped it before it had finished. I have just run a quick format on the drive, and I’ll run ChkDisk again to fully test it. I should also note that I experienced the same problem with another USB drive, which tends to suggest that it isn’t a hardware problem. -

Good Morning! I would like to use Secure Connection on my Amazon fireTV Stick, unfortunately there is no app for the FireTV. Sideloading the android app does not work because the screen ratio is messed up and i can't login due to the fact that there is no Keyboard. Other VPN Services do have the possibility to be installed directly on a router to secure the whole network. Can i do this with my Kaspersky VPN or maybe install it on a Raspberry Pi?

32 bit or 64 bit - is it normal to use 140MB? Power usage says very high, is that okay?
rpol replied to rpol's topic in Kaspersky Anti-Virus
Thank you for your quick response. The version is 1903 (OS Build 18362.476) I’ve had in on here for 3 years or so. I can’t remember how it was installed. Steps 2 and 3 sound too complex for me. Thank you for sharing; KIS 2016 Runs as 32 bit on 64 bit Windows 10 I don’t need to read that, I just was asking if that was the reason it ran hot because sometimes thats the problem. I have the Microsoft Windows Defender protection on but it uses no power and no memory, so I was wondering if the stats I gave you were high or if that is just how hot KIS runs. So if there is a way to get it to use less power then please let me know. Otherwise I’ll have to live with it. -

Hello @Lemarque, KIS patch f is currently being distributed, if (your) KIS is yet to receive the patch, perform a regular shutdown of the computer. There may not be any indication a patch is “waiting”, the patch is applied by shutdowning down and restarting the computer. KIS Release Notes: Patches A – F for version 20.0.14.1085 Vulnerability Report: List of Advisories, issued on 25th November, 2019 Also, KIS 2020 has new software compatibility requirements, it’s worth doing a quick check to ensure there’s no conflicts. Best regards🙏 -
Cursor freezes when using On-screen keyboard [Solved][Closed]
Marlbo replied to Marlbo's topic in Kaspersky Total Security
Hi richbuff & Flood thanks for your response (it all helps!) I *think* I may have just sorted the problem, nothing simpler than updating the Kaspersky database which is strange, as I thought it automatic, or at least I would get a prompt to say out of date, never had to do that before.? Flood: that was the first website and time I had the problem, today I added its URL to the Safe List, retried the Website and my Bank site, and received a message for both that there was trouble with Certification/verification and they may not be safe. Opened Kaspersky, saw a lot of orange (warning?) text that it needed updating, it didn't want to update at first, re-booted, selected the Update Automatically (even though it was already selected) Saved, then retried those Websites with no problem and I can hover over the On-Screen keyboard as much as I want without it freezing now. Really don't know what happened there, just one of those never to happen again glitches?....Lets' see! Thanks both for your offers of help Marlbo -

Hello Marlbo, As well as the post from Richbuff, do ALL financial sites/online have the same issue with the Onscreen Keyboard & the Protected Browser not opening or one site? While we're trouble shooting/analysing (it wouldn't hurt) to run a full scan, it may a long time, please allow it to complete. Please let us know? Thanks! -
I cannot access any of the Kaspersky settings with Input Director software on Networked PCs [MOVED] [Closed]
Flood and Flood's wife replied to a topic in Kaspersky Internet Security
Hello Skywreck, Thanks for posting back. May I ask, is the original problem: "cannot access any of the Kaspersky settings as the mouse and keyboard are disabled around the borders of Kaspersky interface", slightly different to current issue: "input director mouse is disabled on any Kaspersky window"? And, it's very hard (for me) to see, on the left hand side it looks like there are 2 shortcuts being accessed, 1 (input director?), the other (?S_Cll?) is it possible to move these to a more central/visible position & reproduce please? For my understanding, when [ ]Self Defence is unselected that's using the locally attached mouse? Is that correct? Also, referring to the following image, your .mp4 does not show a PopUp when [ ]Self Defence is changed, is that correct? & please let us know: KIS [Security Level] setting? Secure Data Input Settings? Is KISDT version 3.1.10.217 software still installed? Thanks! https://help.kaspersky.com/KIS/2019/en-US/87342.htm -
Hi @FLOOD Everything seems to be fine (synched and checked as correctly working). It’s just that one time in which KIS couldn’t even start - clicking on KIS’ icon did nothing at all - that got me quite scared. But if that could have been just a temporary conflict (as a simple reboot did the trick) with windows, well, I can stop freaking out (XD). Thank you very much for the quick answer!

Hello Skywreck, Welcome! May we have the following information please: KIS version? Devices Operating system/s / versions? Input Director version? Screen print/s showing "mouse and keyboard disabled around the borders of Kaspersky interface"? GSI - https://support.kaspersky.com/common/diagnostics/3632 Thanks. -
Thank you for the quick replies. Also yes, this is the first time that the report showed “x ignored cloud” . Recently I did a clean installation of windows, formatting my pc, and before I did that KIS never showed me that “ignored cloud” message. It’s actually quite probable that I missed some updates, previously, either from the Windows side or from KIS and that the ignored cloud is just 1drive. I’ll try to ask TS about it and update the result here too. Thank you very much for all the help and the willingness (in answering my questions)

'Facebook New Feature' Scan, Android.
Flood and Flood's wife replied to a topic in Kaspersky Internet Security
Hello @Safety Seeker, Welcome! Please tell us: (A) Android version? KIS version? Facebook version? Do you have an image of the 'Facebook New Feature' please? Do you have an image of the Kaspersky msg “new app and required the premium version to perform the scan”, please?I’ve checked the KIS Free version, there are no scan limitations, Quick Scan, scans installed apps, including new apps, Full Scan, scans entire device. There is a new Facebook Protect feature, using 2FA🤔(B) My suggestions: Go to Google PlaySore, check your account, select My Apps & games, verify the Facebook application version installed including the last update date & version? Go to Phone Application Manager, check Facebook application, ensure the version information matches that of the Facebook application in Google PlayStore. If the information does not match: Uninstall Facebook application. Reboot phone. Run KIS (manual) Database Update. Run KIS (manual) Full Scan. Download & install Facebook application. Reboot phone. Run KIS (manual) Database Update. Run KIS (manual) Full Scan. Monitor for any issues? Please post back? Thank you -
I recently installed Kasperksy Internet Security for my Android mobile phone. I swiped into my phone yesterday, 16th November. It showed a notification of an update for 'Facebook New Feature'. I found this strange as I’d have expected it to just show ‘Facebook’. So I clicked on it to start a scan, but Kaspersky would not scan it and said that it was a new app and required the premium version to perform the scan. Nothing suspicious has happened on my phone since that time. I performed a quick scan, then a full scan later. Both returned no issues. The Application Manager shows Facebook installed, but no ‘Facebook New Feature'. Should I be concerned about this? If so, what should I do? Why would Kaspersky not scan this update/installation? Does Kaspersky scan apps installed on the phone, after the date which Kaspersky was installed? Could this be a database virus update regarding some vulnerability in Facebook?

Why is not automatic database working dispite automatic is set in configuration ?
richbuff replied to a topic in Kaspersky Total Security
Welcome. How do you connect to the internet? Is your internet connection ok? Is your internet connection metered? Have you waited 15 minutes after system boot up to see if the update will occur? Reboot, then check system date/time correct, then Settings > Additional > Network > Proxy server > select Do Not use proxy server. Are you on battery or main power? Settings > Performance > uncheck Disable scheduled tasks. Are you in Gaming Profile? Kaspersky Settings > Performance > uncheck Automatically disable some functionality when in full screen mode. Is your Kaspersky license expiring in a few days? If your license is a managed subscription, please click Subscription, located at lower right of the main Kaspersky window, then click the "Update subscription status" button. Then start an Update. If still no go, attach the Detailed update report. Enable Log Non Critical Events: Settings > Additional > Reports and quarantine > check Log Non-critical events. Then do an update. Main Kaspersky window, lower center, More Tools > right side, click Reports > upper right > Detailed reports, upper left > dropdown > Update, select the current entry > right-middle > click Details > Save icon at upper right > Save, name the file and save it somewhere and attach it to your next post. If the file is too large to upload, then zip it (right click, send to > compressed zipped folder) and upload the zip. If the update report appears to be blank, please post the screenshot of the update report. How to take and post screenshot: PrtSc (Print screen) key (upper right part of keyboard)> open Paint (Start > All programs > Accessories) > Edit > Paste, File > Save as (jpeg or png, Not bmp). When replying, bottom left of reply box > Drag files here to attach, or choose files... Submit reply. Disable Log Non Critical Events when done. Constant warnings for safe programs “attempting to create embedded keys or parameters” [Closed]
Flood and Flood's wife replied to Caspians's topic in Kaspersky Internet Security
Hello @Caspians. Installed 2020 already, you must be a quick “reader”😉 Thank you for the report! What’s interesting is, (for GraphPad Prism 7.03), KIS is not collecting the alerts, other than: to allocate it to the Low Restricted group, and, move it to: Trusted group, presumably after you’ve acknowledged the alerts. I’m going to test some of the apps you’ve mentioned… I’ll post back on this. Also, is KIS licensed? If “yes”, have you raised a case with the Lab? Let me know please? Thank you🙏 ! -
Rootkit Scanning: Has the display in the Red K icon of KIS 20.0.14.1085(d) of Rootkit Scanning been removed/disabled? [Closed]
wgcuser replied to wgcuser's topic in Kaspersky Internet Security
@FLOOD Since my last post the ‘new copy’ of KIS 20.0.14.1085 has updated from patch c to patch e. I’ve been turning the PC on at about 09:00 and leaving it on for about 12 hours with the screen saver cutting in after about 4 minutes inactivity. The Detailed Reports show a Quick Scan at the scheduled time of 11:00 and a daily Rootkit Scan at between 14:51 and 15:58. - So I guess this is progress. -

@FLOOD Kind of you to ask. I’m currently just completing a quick scan and database update on the win7 Netbook. No Rk scan - except the one I initiated a few days ago. Later I’ll reset it to the Defaults via the Export/Restore Settings and see how that goes. -

I don't understand why a second thread would create chaos in tracking? But I can understand why you are changing this thread description to make it look , like there are 2 problems connected together. But that's absolutely not true! KIS18 versions are unable to protect stealing data out of the Safe Browser easily by using the "print" key of your keyboard. Even If you are experiencing no problems with Safe Browser! Thanks for your help, I will contact tech support and post the security issue on facebook.

Allow access to hosts file for one program in Windows 10
Axthorpe replied to Axthorpe's topic in Kaspersky Total Security
Well I added one more “checkbox” in exclusion and got it working :) I checked these three: Do not monitor application activity Do not inherit restrictions from the (application’s) parent process Do not monitor the activity of child applicationsThe boxed that I left out was “inherit parent”, which I don’t really understand. But the beta is working, and it is a beta so I can live with it for now. The reason I asked about giving one program access to one file, was that I had som other AV-software years ago that could do that. But otherwise quite happy with Kaspersky, so keep up the good work. And thank you for quick response here in the forum. 👍 Kind regards Håkan
