  1. I think I just saw that dead horse twitch…where’d I put my club... Loath as I am to continue this, I admit it still irritates me when a programmer/s changes something that worked BETTER before they changed it: Old Safe Money routine: Open Safe Money app Click on URLURL opens in selected mode, i.e. Protected, Ask, or Do not run protected browser; two clicks, fini. New routine: Open a browser Open Safe Money Cut and paste or type in/find URL for site you wish to open Select mode you wish to useI don’t know about others, but my vote always goes to option #1. From long experience in my past life as an engineer dealing with geeks making life miserable for those of us operating in the real world. Rant over, duck out... bd
  2. But that’s not ALWAYS the way it functioned. In previous builds over the years, Safe Money always opened a red (‘Do not open in protected browser’) or an amber (‘Ask’) site setting in an unprotected browser, with the option to continue in that or open in a protected browser. It did this directly from the Safe Money app, with no cutting/pasting of URL to control how the site opened. I know this because there are times I want a protected URL to open in an unprotected browser, for various reasons. In the past when I changed the setting in SM, it would open in the changed mode directly from Safe Money. It’s only recently that it’s started displaying this sort of behavior, for me anyway. As I said, still better than opening every SM URL in an unprotected browser, so I guess I’ll shut up about it. Thanks, bd PS--I still don’t understand changes made in programs that make them more clunky or complicated rather than simpler and more transparent. Always reminds me of the old programmers’ creed: ‘If it ain’t broke…. ...BREAK IT!’
  3. Flood et epouse, Can’t really read/see what you’re doing in the vid. Appears as if you’re copying the URL and then pasting it in a browser? Any rate, this is what is happening when I open a red (‘Do not run in protected browser’) site: As you can see (I hope!) the site still opens in protected browser. Same thing happens w/’Ask’ setting sites; all my URLs in SafeMoney open in protected mode, regardless of setting. Better than always opening in unprotected mode, I guess. Thanks for the imput, bd PS: Ignore the notepad; didn’t feel like showing my other SafeMoney URL’s to the world at large! ibidbd
  4. Wondering if this might be a problem w/Windows 7. I’m a troglodyte, have yet to switch to Win10 for a number of reasons. Wonder if someone in the KIS community has a thought on this. Thanks, bd
  5. Anton, Don’t think my taking ‘screen shots’ is going to demonstrate this problem any further than my explanation. I could take a screen shot of the safe money menu, showing the icon for the url in red (‘do not open protected browser’) and I suppose a screen shot of the protected browser it opened in, but that’s really no different than telling you that the settings selected are not being executed--e.g. clicking on a safe money site set to ‘ask/do not open protected browser’ still ALWAYS opens in a protected browser, in spite of the safe money setting. As to your second statement, I don’t really understand it: the safe money routine is the controlling factor in what sort of browser the url opens in. If you set it for ‘Always ask’ the icon is yellow and the safe money app SHOULD open a window in a regular browser, with a query asking whether you want to continue in that unsecured browser, or switch to a protected browser. The app USED to do this, but for some reason no longer opens that query window, but simply goes directly to a protected browser. Ditto with the ‘Do not open in protected browser (red) setting; it simply ignores that setting and automatically opens in a protected browser. Thanks for your response, bd
  6. Every URL in Safemoney (12 URLS) exhibits this same behavior. No matter what setting I choose (Ask, Do not run protected browser) it opens in protected browser. Doesn’t ask, doesn’t default to unprotected browser; just automatically opens in protected browser. Thanks for the response, bd
  7. Safe Money sites always open in protected mode, regardless of selection (Ask, Do not run in protected browser). I’ve tried deleting/adding site, but still will only run in protected browser, with no ask option or do not run. Anyone? Thanks, bd
  8. Wow. Big difference in dashboard...How do you set reports for ‘Informational’? Have no such option in settings for reports. bd
  9. Flood, Good to see you again...sorta. Never like having to come here--means I gots problems. Yes, there was a window in ‘Reports’ in the previous version that was titled ‘Detected Objects’, which isolated dangerous objects for inspection/resolution. It was accessed via ‘More Tools/Reports’ thru the main screen. It’s not there in the build that was pushed to me this AM. Can’t get a screenshot of the previous version, since it’s no longer available to me. This build was called out as specifically for CA residents. No idea if other KIS users got it. Thanks, bd Hello, KL remove this function in their new 2021 serious build. You have to adjust to this change, because there are quite a few small changes in this version of the interface. Regards. Whaaaa???? bd
  10. Got a screenshot from my notebook (which wasn’t auto updated for some reason).

  12. Question says it all. Any idea on why this is no longer available in ‘More Tools/Reports’ ? Thanks, bd
  13. I’m a belt-and-suspenders kind of guy...the more protection in my control, the better. So yeah, a lifelong habit of running full scans at least once a week is now built into my DNA. Maybe foolish, but if nothing else provides a modicum of placebo-effect type ease of mind. While I’m dissing the latest KIS build, let me inquire as to why the absence of a shortcut icon for Safe Money? My twitch reflex is to start SM from my Start menu, and I still wonder why it’s not there anymore. Just akin’. bd
  14. Here’s the topic from the Apache OpenOffice forum regarding this issue. Listed as solved, but never actually was. Pretty sure K still won’t allow posting URL’s, so I’ve included a screenshot of the forum page, with the URL in the addy bar if you want to access it. Thanks, bd
  15. Open Office 4.1.7 (latest version, re-installed yesterday). OS Win7 and yes, I’m the canary in that particular coal mine. The steps are as above in my earlier post: Open OO text doc (attachment 1) Open Safe Money protected browser Close/re-open OO text doc (attachment 2)Note particularly the cursor in attachment 2 and how it’s completely off the page. Scrolling becomes impossible, as well as the grayed-out/missing menu buttons/bars. Thanks, bd
  16. Unchecked the network setting ‘inject script into web traffic’ with no change in result. Can’t find any events for Apache Open Office in the reports, although with this new build it’s a major chore trying to locate a specific event (thanks for the change, KIS). Already re-installed OO latest version--twice. Still exhibits same problem. Thanks, Flood, bd
  17. Attached find an Open Office text document w/no Safe Money Protected browser opened, and the same text doc opened after opening a Safe Money Protected browser. There are quite a few OO users complaining of the same problem on Apache’s forum. Thanks for the response, Flood. bd
  18. I surely hope so. I’m a heavy user and can’t afford the slowdown caused by running a full scan in background during work. So I always did my full scans on Friday evening, with the option set to shut down after scan concludes, so that my machine wasn’t running all weekend. Now I have to live with poor system performance for 2-3 hours during workday to run the scan. BS. Society of Software Designers’ Mission Statement: If it ain’t broke, BREAK IT!!! bd
  19. When I open a protected browser in KIS Safe Money, I lose functionality in Open Office text documents. All menu bars/options grayed out or missing, unable to scroll without messing up the page completely. Anyone else having this problem? Am using latest build of KIS 2021 21.1.15.500 (c) Thanks, bd
  20. I’m sort of perversely hoping that someone else will have experienced the same issues as I did, and share the issue with Kaspersky. As for opening an issue myself, I’ll have to wait until they push the new update back at me again in a week or so, then see if I can replicate the problems. Or hopefully they’ll have found/corrected this issue themselves. Thanks for the help/suggestions. Hope users visit/post comments, pro and con. Only way for an app to be improved. bd
  21. At the suggestion of several users, I’m starting this thread in hope that others having problems/issues w/the latest build (21.1.15.500) can raise them here. Hopefully the designers will take note: or tell me I’m nuts. So here’s my experience of 21.1.15.500: 9/8/2020--KIS pushed a new build (21.1.15.500) out to me in the morning when I booted my desktop computer. Only pushed out to this computer, and not my notebook, which still has the previous build (20.0.14.1085 (i) ). I immediately began experiencing problems w/all 3 of my browsers (Firefox, Chrome, IE) with the majority of the problems occurring w/Firefox. Pages ceased responding, endless page loads that never finished, messages that I had no internet connection though I did etc. All requiring closing/re-opening browsers or complete re-boots to temporarily resolve, but all cropped up again within a few minutes. Messed with it for the remainder of the day, alternately re-booting system/pulling my hair out. 9/9/2020--Another version pushed in the a.m. at startup (21.1.15.500 (b) ). Same problems persisted throughout the morning. Finally opened an issue w/Kaspersky via phone support (since I wasn’t able to log into my Kaspersky account, due to continuing browser issues). Via remote session the new version was removed from my machine, and the previous build (20.0.14.1085 (i) ) re-installed. All issues immediately resolved w/browsers/internet connection. Everything working fine now. My remaining issues/bitches are: The ‘Detailed Reports’ interface was MUCH more intuitive/user friendly. You could select ‘All Events’ and see every incident of any kind in real time/chronologically: If you wanted to see any incident in further detail you could select ‘Details’ tab for the entry and see a detailed account of the issue: Note that all the entries also include a color-coded bar identifying the severity/type of issue presented by the logged entry. From their you could go to the specific category of issue (Updates in this case) and see all other entries in this class. Neat, intuitive, non-intrusive. I can’t post any screenshots of the 21.1.15.500 build, since I no longer have it. I’m including an image posted by another user from another thread to illustrate how much more confusing/difficult to use the new build is: As opposed to this in the 20.0.14.1085 (i) version: Note how the description of the event is accessed by clicking the ‘Details’ link: --thereby avoiding the mile-long scroll for the actual event description as presented in the new version. You can get all the depth of analysis of an event w/out having to go from place to place looking for it. Plus, if you’re currently viewing say ‘Scans’ on the 21.1.15.500 build and a scan runs in background, it doesn’t show up on the screen until you refresh it (click on ‘Scan’ a 2nd time). So no real-time, at-a-glance capability. Additional issue for me: the ‘shutdown computer when scan is finished’ has once again disappeared: I’ll never understand that. For heavy users like myself, who don’t have the time/resources available to perform a full scan during the day, it slows down my machine unacceptably. So I do my full scans at night, and check the ‘Shutdown after scan finishes’ button, thus not having to leave my machine running all night. Or live with the slower performance while simultaneously working and running a full scan during the day. That’s it. I trust that K guys will see/monitor this topic, and that other users will post their experiences w/21.1.15.500, pro and con. KIS is the best AV program that I’ve ever used, and I’ve used a lot of them. The way to keep it that way is by providing feedback/opinions on how to improve it to the designers. Thanks for your time, bd
  22. KIS pushed version21.1.15.500 to me 9/8/2020. This AM pushed ver. 21.1.15.500 (b) to me. Ever since computer has been wonky. Firefox/IE browsers freeze, say I don’t have internet connection (though I do) have to close/reopen to continue; often have to re-boot machine to continue. Happening ever since push of version 9/8/202. Anyone?
  23. Hello @borkduck, Thank you👌 Has a case been raised with the Kaspersky Technical Support team? Please advise? Thank you🙏 Flood🐳 As I said earlier, a technician did a remote session with my system and removed the new update, re-installing the previous build (20.0.14.1085 (i) ). The case was then closed by the tech. Not sure if this is something that an issue/case can be opened for. I freely admit that outside of the concrete problems I had w/all 3 browsers following the push of the new build--problems that disappeared after the previous build was re-installed--my other objections were just my opinion on what I thought were ill-advised changes of a function that worked perfectly before. Valid, but again just my opinion. I think your suggestion of a thread where feedback on the new build can be posted a good one. If a problem exists, I believe that Kaspersky will want to know about it. I’m new here and am hoping someone more experienced with the forum might start one. If they don’t, maybe I will. Thanks for your feedback, diluvian. bd
  24. Here’s a couple of images of the detailed reports screens from the old (20.0.14.1085 (i) version: Much more accessible for user, able to go to the depth that you wish instead of being given that huge screen dump in the new update. bd
