Every time the 'Application Vulnerability Scan' runs its scheduled scan, it tries to scan a path that doesn't exist.

The message I get looks something like this:

Yesterday, 25-May-25 23:19:00;[Insert path that doesn't exist];Not processed;Object not processed;;File not found;File;[Insert path that doesn't exist];;Not processed;;;;[Insert PC User];Active user

The path *used* to exist many months ago (it used to be an external HDD that at some point failed).

Not sure how I can make the software understand that the path is not there anymore.
Any suggestions?

I would go there: Application V. Scan Settings -> Edit search scope:

 

 

And check if there is an additional external device added, the default setting is:

 

@Berny, I'd rather not force exclude a certain path. That might lead into problems in the future, eg. I might forget that I have excluded that path and have it ignored (in case I use it again in the future)

What I expected to do is to set an option that any path that is not found to be cleared from future scans by the software.

@harlan4096, that was a good suggestion. Unfortunately there is nothing there besides the 'installed applications' (which is enabled)

I'm confused, because if You don't have any additional device added there, it's weird still getting that warning 🤔

 

Can You post a capture of the warning?

I would have done in the first place but the path (and the PC name) contains sensitive info. Basically, the warning is exactly like what I posted in my OP. I have only excluded the sensitive info I mentioned.

Are you aware of any setting files (like eg. a .ini) or something similar that might contain data from the past?

I have a feeling that this might have happened when I upgraded from the old version of Kaspersky (I think it was called Internet Security) to the Standard version.
Maybe there are remnant settings that confuse the software.

You can try to run a K. Standard Restore settings and recheck is still the warning 🤔

Hmm, I did that when I upgraded to initialise all parameters properly. Honestly, it will take too much time to re-set everything to how I want. Good suggestion though.

I might use Agent Ransack too search all text files within Kaspersky's folders for the path in question. Maybe I'll get lucky.

You can export the settings before the Restore.

You mean, just to see if it will fix it. Because, upon re-importing the old settings, any problem will most probably be back.

Ok, this is getting really weird.

I did restore the settings. Needless to say, it removed everything; all custom settings, saved websites to 'safe money', custom scan methods, exclusions, etc. etc. *all gone*

Did a system restart and ran 'Vulnerability Scan' manually expecting to not see that path again... I was wrong, path shows again, the usual 'object not processed' message with the reason being 'File not found', exactly like before the restoration.

Seeing that result, I reasoned that this might have to do with something stored in the registry so I searched there.

Found two instances in the registry but I don't think these are the culprits since there are other paths pointing to that old drive letter. If anything, K. would scan all paths on that list not just the one path I have the problem with.

I also searched the contents of all non-binary files I could find related to K. but that path wasn't there.

No idea how to move forward. I guess I will leave things as they are. However, that doesn't mean I'm not concerned as to why this is happening.

Any other ideas will be much appreciated.
