Greetings everyone, sorry for the news that have been buzzing around within KS 21.22 version.

Just updated, I mean the third "annual" version Kaspersky Standard received in less a year. I mean shouldn't these version bem applied once a year?

KS 21.20 had small bugs, 21.21 had major issues and now 21.22 carry a few more issues as WebView2 manager came along with 7 new process that I wonder if they have any importance to keep my protection on the web safer.

Is it fine if I close the group of process while I play, or surf on the web?

New versions are available 4 times a year: usually in the second half of January, April, July, October.

Are these processes indeed preventing you from playing games or visiting webpages? If yes - how exactly does it happen?

It seems so far in my experiente using Steam and playing an online game It didn't stop or interfered with anything not even with Kernel anticheat system but as the author of this thread and so do I share a common interest such that I don't like having unecessary process running background (15,9/16 Gb capacity).

And I notice this WebView2 manager(32 bits) (7) begin using aprox. about 70 MB and the later decreases to 40 MB and 15 MB under lots of use, accordingly to my user behavior like playing, design work and such.

I do suffer OCD and I get the need to keep things under the integrity of general resources to not go out of abnormal condition.

That I wasn't no aware about It because in my old experience using Kaspersky Internet Security since 2018 till 2023, that AV suite would get a version once a year. I've started using Kaspersky Standard late in 2024 as I got oriented by my regional suporter customer Center the KIS no longer operante or keep to be updated.

The use of webview2 fixed runtime by Kaspersky is a complete joke!!! I'm happy to not be alone in this!!!

You won't get paid so much. Well, now you will have fun together to fight with terrible processes. 😄

After contacting Kaspersky support about the use of webview2 runtime in latest build they answered me with another joke:

"Webview2 is an engine related to the Microsoft Edge program/browser, which is linked to Microsoft!"

Thank you, guys, for reminding me this "PUP" belongs to Microsoft!!!

Final report: (from my company IT staff - all with Microsoft MCP or better certifications):

"Webview2 disabled in Kaspersky, only appears to disable the ability to display web content in the GUI. (Kaspersky news, promotional content, etc.)

Disabling or renaming the WebView2 executable (msedgewebview2.exe) doesn’t seem to affect core security functions like virus scanning or real-time protection. It only disables the ability to show web content in the GUI.

So, in the essential, WebView2 isn’t required for Kaspersky’s security engine, but it’s now part of the user experience layer. Some users find this frustrating, especially if they prefer lightweight software without background processes.

This temporary solution can be done in affected machines until Kaspersky makes a statement proving it can "break" essential functions!

More fun for you, and less fun for Kaspersky!

Final report

I know that this component doesn't participate in protection. We have already talked about web content in GUI. And I have already talked about possible problems with GUI. You still don't understand it? Then re-read the thread again, but carefully. I don't know what for all this text above. Maybe only for our fun again. 😄

This is the statement without evidence. Or have they run all the tests? Well, it's really funny. This can only be reported by the KL developers, who are aware of all the nuances of the GUI functions. Take, for example, the feature of antivirus processes: they are not ordinary like Adobe, but protected by self-defence.

Poor users, feel sorry for them. 😄

@AragornPT I'm surprised how much attention you pay to these harmless processes. You write on the forum, to KL support, to some experts... 99.9% of users will not notice them at all. And those who did notice, will not attach any importance to them. I think, it would be good for you to understand where so many worries about it come from.

All the best, the topic is already completely useless and too long.
