Hi, since I now have a 10 seat Kaspersky Premium license, I wanted to install it on the Mac. BUT, I use Little Snitch, and although kaspersky mac doesn't have the firewall, it has a network component that was incompatible with little Snitch many, many years ago.

I use Little Snitch religiously as it's the easiest app on Mac, period, to get internet connection outbound access alerts.

And the beauty is that it has a perfect set of default rules to allow the OS and safari to function, so you really only get alerts as you install new apps (or if you genuinely have some spyware or malware or something).

It's not the end of the world, I will keep using Malwarebytes on my Mac if Kaspersky still doesn't want to co exist with Snitch. However, I thought it would be nice to have kasapersky, as unlike MWB, it deals with windows malware on the mac also so you don't accidentally spread it to others, as well as real time scanning whereas MWB only deals with Mac malware and ONLY if it tries to execute.

Unlike Windows, there is no quick simple system restore on Mac, and Time Machine takes ages for something like this.

So would be great to know up front if anyone knows!

TIA!

well I guess I will install it if no one knows.

Can someone guide me to completely, 100% uninstalling Kaspersky on Mac OS Sonoma (I won't upgrade to Sequoia as I have some incompatible music hardware and this is a music studio computer)?

I just want to be able to know up front that I can completely remove it like it was never there, if it doesn't work with Little Snitch, as this is the only thing troubling me and why I haven't tried it myself already. It will also be the first time in many years that I'd be using a full security solution on Mac. In the past I always just used MWB and Little Snitch, for the last 5 years or so.

If there's an easy way to uninstall it and all traces of it, then I am happy to just install it myself and see if it works with LS.

If Time Machine is the only option, then so be it.

Hello @Bav

Welcome back!

  1. Is the Mac firewall being used?
  2. Typical Kaspersky *Uninstall application* procedure; same as Windows there's an equivalent of Kavremover IF the typical *Uninstall* procedure doesn't work - however - it's best done with the *guidance* of Kaspersky specialists - at least the *first-time*; lots of cowboys run Kavremover-Windows & Kavremover-mac solo & end up in tears.
  3. As per our convo in yr other topic, template below & after reviewing the posts above *again* - (ioo) there's a scramble of issues - a  few tips when submitting the incident request, please take these in the spirit they're written, with kindness -> be clear, be concise, don't write war-&-peace; provide specific *details* - for example - the claim: ".... although Kaspersky mac doesn't have the firewall, it has a network component that was incompatible with little Snitch many, many years ago." -> back it up with an actual resource the Kaspersky specialists can read so they know exactly what you are on about - not some obscure, unverified, statement....
  4. Found the resource for (you) @BavList of applications incompatible with Kaspersky Internet Security 20 for Mac -> Little Snitch 😅, dated 2019.
  5. IF (you) were to install Kaspersky Premium it should *automatically* run the incompatible software/applications check & (we'll) bet (our) house on it - Little Snitch will still be flagged. image.thumb.png.7b4fc25abe8ce2b4775865d228efc5ba.png

Thank you🙏

1) Hi yes, the mac firewall is always on as that is for inbound hacking attacks, little snitch is used for outbound dialing (well it's much easier to use than the mac firewall for that purpose).

2) Kaspersky is not installed right now on the mac, but thanks for that and I will keep a bookmark to this if I decide to install it then need to uninstall.

3) Understood

4) Yes I had seen the list which is actually what prompted the topic to begin with, as the info on it is from over half a decade back, hence, I was hoping the situation had changed.

5) Interesting point.

I think I will just use malwarebytes on the mac, it's already been on it since day one with little snitch and zero issues. I can do a manual scan for windows malware once a week with a free offline scanner, that will do for now.
