My Kaspersky Total recently expired. I am using windows 11 pro.  How do I make sure windows defender is turned on?

Kaspersky doesn't work anymore since it's expired but it seems to mention Kaspersky when you type in windows security in search bar in windows 11?

I went and paused Kaspersky total and now it shows this below in bold.

I don't want to uninstall Kaspersky Total.

Kaspersky Total Security
Kaspersky Total Security is snoozed

Current Threats
No Actions Needed

Protection settings
Kaspersky Total Security Is Snoozed
Turn on Option

Protection Updates
No actions needed
Open app option

Microsoft Defender Antivirus Options option to click on.

Do I have to install Kaspersky Total in order for windows defender to be turned on or not?  I read you have to but is it true?  So you can't pause Kaspersky Total like I did and then it goes to windows defender?  If I was to delete Kaspersky Total, how do I save the settings to where the next time I download it, then I can have those settings?  I am going to renew Kaspersky total sometime later on but want to use windows defender now.

For question 1, you meant to say

Do I have to install Kaspersky Total in order for Windows defender to be turned on?  Your answer was yes for this.

I uninstalled Kaspersky Total and when I did this, it gave me a few things I could also check mark to delete like the history and settings?  I recalled there was only one checkmark that was autochecked and two or three boxes that allow you to check mark it?  I didn't make any changes and just did the default so it had the one box checked.  So that is fine?  I then restarted computer as it said you need to restart it for changes to take place.  However, I'm not sure if my Kaspersky Total settings were saved or not for future use if I download it again?  What is the answer to this?

Okay so Kaspersky Total Security is no longer available.  However... I was still using it though right before it expired?  So you can only use it if you still have a subscription... only till it expires?  So some people still are using Kaspersky Total right?

Okay so there is those new Kaspersky options you mention.  I assume Kaspersky Total Security Equivalent would be Kaspersky Premium?

I'm curious but what about people who bought a subscription to Kaspersky Total a while back but bought like a 2 year or longer subscription?  I know that existed a while back.  Does that mean those people still can use Kaspersky Total for a long time such as if say they bought a 3 year subscription and say they are still on their 1st year?  Or anyone that bought that many year subscription of Kaspersky Total... you had to enter a renewal code every year but you get multiple codes so one every year?

Hello @Joefram80,

  1. We *misread* (your) original question - the answer should have been No.
  2.  How to uninstall the application - the documentation has *detailed* procedures for saving data for future use.
  3. In the US - any one with an *active* subscription & who's read *all* of the documentation & *advice* we've previously shared with you.
  4. Kaspersky *are* offering a *free* upgrade to subscribers with active subscriptions, we've shared this information with (you) in the past - the offer is no longer available to (you) as (you) no longer have an *active* Kaspersky subscription. When (you're) *outside* of the US - you can purchase Kaspersky, use an address that is also outside of the US, make sure (your) MyKaspersky account reflects the address that is not US; as long as the Kaspersky software is *activated* outside of the US, when you go back to the US (you) can use Kaspersky *but* (you) will need to use a VPN set outside of the US - for Database updates & KSN; purchasing a *new* Kaspersky subscription equivalent would be Kaspersky Premium.
  5. Currently there are no three year subscriptions on the Kaspersky: Standard, Plus, Premium range. IF a subscriber purchased a 2yr KTS subscription, their subscription/license will keep functioning until the original expiration date - exactly as it says in the Guide on Kaspersky software availability in the United States, we've shared with (you) many times. A multiple yr subscription does not require a license code to be entered annually.

Thank you🙏
