Databases extremely out of date notifications, update does not remedy this

79 days to go for subscription, scans work, but keep getting "Databases are extremely out of date".  Update seem to start but stop immediately and continued databases out of date notifications continue.  

Program tells me no active threats are detected and al components are running, yet shows the Databases are extremely out of date.  So I don't know if things are really working, or it is just checking old definitions, or if anything is working.  Please advise
