Dear Flood🐳+🐋, it was a problem on an Android 10 smartphone. I followed your advice and started to prepare for a clean install and then seen that somehow the popup permissions/settings on the phone were reset, so after reactivating them things went back to normal. Thank you for your support!

My son can use his devices even though the time limit has been reached (and also the pause-time, intended for learning, has started. Looks like the following bug, allegedly fixed in some version/patch “H” has reappeared? Similar issue: Link
