I'm using Kaspersky Premium with Win 11 Pro 22H2.

How to enable the context menu (right click) file and folder anaylsis? I cannot find any setting in Kaspersky. Do I need to go into the registry?

Thanks

Welcome to Kaspersky community.

It seems there is an issue with K. context menu in Windows 11, I'm also getting it in my W11 Pro x64,it appeared after updating from 21.14 to 21.15 overwriting (not a clean install).

Windows Registry probably not the solution.

The weird thing is that using ShellExView tool, it says it is enabled 🤷‍♂️🤔

It seems the solution is to not do an update overwriting the previous version, and running a clean install...

Always to do cleaned setup, it needs 5 min more but its result is better.

I use always cleaned setup and when i change Kaspersky program on my pc i use also kavremover tool.

Apparently, the Kaspersky option only appears in the context menu (right click menu), if you are using the modern Win 11 menu. If you have the Win 10 view permanently enabled you will not be able to see the Kapersky options. It will also disappear as soon you are expanding the menu ("Show other options").
Could have been solved better by KASPERSKY, yet here we are.

Solution:

Delete the permanent Win 10 context menu with this command:

  1. Win+R
  2. CMD "Press ENTER"
  3. Copy-paste "Press ENTER":
    reg.exe delete "HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID\{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}" /f
  4. Task Manager: Right click on explorer --> Restart explorer // or restart your computer
  5. Win 11 context menuKAPERSKY_context.thumb.png.9f88aaf77cb79eccc4557f0fce7df4e0.png

THIS WORKED FOR ME:

• Open the Kaspersky product window
• Disable Self-Defense via Settings
• Exit the Kaspersky product (click the "K" icon in system tray menu and choose exit)
• Press Win+S and type regedit in a search bar
• Choose "Run as Administrator" option in Registry Editor application which you will find
• In the Registry Editor find the following registry branch:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\KasperskyLab\AVP21.15\environment
• Create a new parameter in the branch:
Name: IsModernWin11ShellExDisabled
Type: String Value
Value: 1
• Restart the PC
• Enable Self-Defense in the product
• Check if the issue persists

Had an autoupdate to 21.18.5.438(a), Kaspersky disappeared from my context menu, this solved the issue.

@Choc,

Thank you for that solution.  Worked like a charm for me.  Much appreciated.

Have a great day.

Does not work for me. I don't have the AVP21.15 folder. Only AVP21.18.  Should I create the AVP21.15\environment folders with the new entry?

Correction: I does work, if I open show more options. Previously, I could scan items right from the context menu.

@sa5o,

Here is a screenshot of my registry entry.  The official position of Kaspersky is to reinstall the product, but this registry hack worked for me.  Your mileage may vary.  USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

You should research this folder:

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\KasperskyLab\AVP21.18\environment

In the other string there is wote 21.15 becouse there are many years that Kaspersky have this problem about Menu Win 11 not resolved until today. It is regretful that customers must remedy the bug themselves to restore menu.

Create a new parameter in the branch

It won't let me create the new parameter, it gives me an error

Hello @alexgrana, welcome.

Have you disabled self-protection?
'Settings->Security settings->Self-Defense'?

Spoiler

Disable self-protection
Change registry value
Enable self-protection
Reboot computer

For those who get the following error in the Registry Editor:
"Error creating value. Cannot create value: Error writing to registry"
You should start Windows in "Safe Mode" and it will let you modify the string.
In Kaspersky version 21.19, the problem will be solved.

hello

I hope the following helps to some of u.

I use JP windows 11 64bit.

I was using Kaspersky Internet Security but all of a sudden when I open Kaspersky app, it states the version I am using is Kaspersky Standard v211.8.5.438 (a).

I recently upgraded from windows 10 to 11 and all of a sudden in my windows explorer the right click context menu for Kaspersky scan dissaappeared.

Kaspersky technical support in Japan showed me the fix as follows.

1)   open command prompt

2)   type the following including " (quotation marks):

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky 21.18\x64\PackageRegistrator.exe" /reg

3)   press enter

4)   when screen shows the operation was successful, restart PC

My right click context menu has appeared.
