Hello @Karunakar

Welcome!

  1. Please tell us the installed Kaspersky software name & version, use this as a guide: How to find the name and the version number of a Kaspersky application?
  2. And the OS version & build, use this as a guide: How to find the version of your operating system?
  3. Please share the websites & rules you've configured for each site, to enable us to test?

Thank you🙏

Hi first of all thank you for your response.

Here are the details asked:

1) Am using Kaspersky VPN Version 21.15.8.493

2) OS: Windows 10 Version 22H2 (OS Build 19045.3570)

3) Ruels attached.

In rules, I added top10vpn.com to ignore. But when I check ip by visiting this website (https://www.top10vpn.com/tools/what-is-my-ip/), am still seeing VPN IP.

Thank you.

Hello @Karunakar

You're most welcome!

Thank you for the information!

  1. For our understanding - is it *only* top10vpn rule that's not working correctly with Kaspersky's VPN?
  2. IF the same rule is applied, using: https://www.maxmind.com/en/locate-my-ip-address - is the result correct?
  3. & again, for our understanding, why a rule to Ignore - when running a VPN check?

Please post back?

Thank you🙏

Hi,

1) No, not only with top10vpn. Same issue with other websites too.

2) Same results seeing with maxmid also as like top10vpn.

3) Why I need ignore rule is, vpn speed is slow comparing with my original internet speed. If I like to watch youtube videos, am feeling slow. For the same, i want to get individual website rules function properly.

Thank you.

Doesn't work at all here either, and I test this by adding whatismyipaddress.com to "ignore".

I got so excited, I thought, finally a VPN I can enable system wide and just exclude the websites that have issues, like stan.com.au and disneyplus, but nope, as soon as I try stream on stan, "VPNs are not supported on Stan, please disable your VPN", and disney gives the usual "unexpected error". Turn the VPN off and everything works.

Win 11 24H2, Kaspersky VPN 21.21.7.384-1

Hi yes it happens on the other laptop in the house, a Windows 10/8850h/32GB/1TB/GTX 1070, usb wi-fi 5 dongle as internal wi-fi faulty on that late 2018 model Aorus X5 V8.

On my main laptop I use for gaming and pretty much everything - (MSI GT77 late 2023):

Win 11 2H42, version: 26100.3775

2x32GB DDR 5 Samsung Ram

Nvidia RTX 4090m

13980hx CPU

2*2TB Samsung Gen 4 SSD

Intel 1690i Wi-Fi 6

I will have to contact support this time, just in the middle of composing an email as since reinstalling Kaspersky all VPN split tunneling has stopped working in Malwarebytes and Proton. I  exited Malwarebytes Privacy completely (it can be exited from tray icon and all processes shut down, just like Kaspersky) and Proton was not open at all and not conifgured to run at startup with Windows (tested all this again after a fresh reboot).

and I have a question regarding the mac version that I have been unable thus far to get help on, so I am composing a support email to them, although perhaps it's best to compose one re the Mac question and another re the Windows multiple VPN issues?

Re the VPN, it's working, it's just that everything goes through it. The proton browser extension is disabled also however if I re enable it and test its own site exclusions, that works fine. I have tested in latest Edge and Firefox which updated just yesterday.

Cheers

Hi @Bav

Thank you for the information!

  1. We understand the VPN is working & that everything goes thru it; the topic has been discussed - by other community members - more than a few times.
  2. Absolutely keep mac/little snitch issue separate = log two requests when doing a submission to Kaspersky Customer Service - they will be allocated to different speciality sections of Kaspersky.
  3. FYI - we did not respond to (your) mac/little snitch topic bc we're not prepared to ld50 test our mac with little snitch 'for anyone'.
  4. We'll upload a mac template in the mac/snitch topic (to guide (you)) if that'll help? Please respond so we don't waste time on this if it's not needed?
  5. Just clear something for us pls as we're a little confused - how many VPNs are being used / tested?

Thank you🙏

Hi, not sure what you mean by LD50.

Absolutely a template would be great and appreciated.

I have 3 VPNs installed, the ones mentioned. I only installed kaspersky VPN as it's part of the suite, because the others stopped working with split tunnel as soon as I installed Kaspersky again (with Avira they were fine).

Malwarebytes is part of the main app and I got a discount.

In reality, my VPN is Proton, not configured to start with Windows, but when I want a VPN that's what I use.

The others just happen to be part of suites I bought, and I am testing them as alternatives once the issue with protonvpn started after installing kaspersky. I am still within refund period of Proton. There was no point getting Kaspersky standard - on the Easter sale I got 10 seats of premium for 2 years for 59 AUD (38 USD) so it just made the most sense to get the premium support. I don't even use the password manager as I use Nord Pass exclusively, but again it just happens to be there as an option if I ever need it. 🙂

Hi @Bav

Thank you for the information!

  1. It's ot, all we wanted (you) to understand was 'why' mac/Kaspersky/snitch had not been replied to.
  2. Done.
  3. Thought so, we *understand* when we read thru your *explanations* - however - don't be surprised IF Kaspersky suggest the three/3 might be the root-cause & *we* might even *agree* EXCEPT the ISSUE pre-existed YOU; is happening to others & has never been fixed.
  4. When Kaspersky DO tell you the RC is three/3 VPNs (you) can prove to them it's not by uninstalling the other two - for testing purposes - BUT (you) can also tell them to read the topics in the Community from their own subscribers - complaining about the issue.
  5. So, we can 'feel' (you) wondering why we're telling (you) to log the issue -> bc Kaspersky need to pull their collective fingers out - and for that to happen impacted users *must* log issues.

Please keep the Community informed of any progress?

Thank you🙏

Hi, proton has been uninstalled and Malwarebytes has been configured to no longer start with windows and exited. A proof can be seen when opening Kaspersky's task process manager and no Malwarebytes service of any kind can be seen.

Remember, I initially only installed Kaspersky AV and declined to install the VPN, and only did so when proton VPN no longer supported split tunnel. THEN, I decided to test MWB split tunnel and that didn't work anymore, THEN I decided to install Kaspersky VPN and none of the split tunnel related features work with that either.

Uninstalling Kaspersky did not help, so I reinstalled it. Some sort of network change has been made to my system. I did a full network reset to no avail.

All this said, this install has been used as a testing ground to try every AV and firewall on the market to choose which one I want (I settled between Avira and Kaspersky and ultimately Kaspersky as my final choice), and since system restore on this system is permanently hosed due to MSI pre installing Intel rapid storage app which is uninstallable and which is also 100% NOT needed (I am not even using raid mode anyway, I already did one restore after disabling raid in bios and having two individual 2TB drives) -  only the F6 driver at windows install time is needed, and since also MSI had McAfee junk pre installed, I have actually manually downloaded needed drivers and made a windows 11 pro 24H2 installer USB using the official Microsoft tool, and am formatting and doing a true fresh install of the OS this weekend. So I will have the ultimate blank state to start with and no bloatware and be able to install the latest Intel network driver right off the bat. So I am halting bothering support too much until I do that just in case that DOES work.

What I am going to do:

Delete the partition and format the C drive fresh.

Install Win 11

Install Intel chipset, GPU, Intel Bluetooth, Intel Network drivers, VC runtime all in one, Direct X runtime, etc. Just the raw basics I personally need.

Make a system restore point

Install Kaspersky

Take it from there (and of course reboot between all these steps as often as I should).

This way I will always have a restore point to go back to with a clean registry.

I mean if I think about it, I have uninstalled and reinstalled about 20 security apps on this current build so the registry must be a mess.

It IS true however that all did work properly with split tunneling until I installed Kaspersky

.....and no matter what happens, I will absolutely still be installing Proton as my main VPN because it has a browser extension and 10ms ping latency over Wi-Fi and 650 Mbps download speed at the closest server, vs 350 Mbps and 35ms latency with Kaspersky VPN at the closest server.

BUT, if I can't get Proton split tunneling working with Kaspersky this time, at least I will have a clean restore point to go back to, and it won't be any issue restoring with Kaspersky present as the restore point will be made prior Kaspersky install and Kaspersky will be uninstalled before performing the restore in safe mode, so all will be good.

If I have to use Avira on this one system then I will use Avira, it's not the end of the world.

And I can install MWB as my second opinion scanner and NOT activate my license, which means there will be no VPN and it will just be the offline, non real time mode scanner (that millions of us use, as you know).

Anyway, if I can't get it all working with K, I will use Avira as said (the firewall control is a masterclass in simplicity and why I initially almost permanently moved to it, but other than that, K beats it in all other areas and K has zero bloatware).

I still have an iPhone, an iPad, a Rog Ally, a coming Android Ayn Odin2 handheld, a Mac Studio for my work projects (music), my mother's iPhone and iPad (she lives with me at present), so it's not as if the Kaspersky will go to waste in any way. In fact I already installed it on her iPad and iPhone for her as I am worried she will press some kind of spam and I am not always here, so, it feels good to have at least SOME extra peace of mind that she has a bit more security.

Point being, even if I happen to not use Kaspersky on this particular gaming computer, it will still be used on the backup Win 10 laptop (it's old but if this one ever needs service, it's there so I am not without a gaming or bedroom laptop, and mum uses it to play some games LOL, truly, and she is nearly 80 which I find hysterical that she games), all the macs and all the mobile devices, so it was still a very worthwhile purchase, especially at that ludicrously cheap price.

That said, except when I am mixing a project for someone, this MSI gaming laptop is what I use for all other personal purposes 100% of the time, so it would be REALLY nice if I can get K working here with split tunneling, as I resigned to the fact the firewall prompts will never ever be the way I want them to be like they are in Snitch/Avira/Glasswire, and DO want to use Kaspersky as my main security solution as I feel SAFE with it installed. I actually feel if some zero day malware were to try and encrypt all my files, that Kaspersky would have the best chance of stopping it with it behavioral protection as K's behavioral protection is unparalleled, period.

But at the end of the day, I have options.

Oh btw re Malwarebytes, I bought 2 years of MWB plus because that IS the VPN I use on the Mac and is currently the security solution I use. Now, MWB on Mac only scans for mac malware (hence why it takes 8 seconds for a full scan)and the real time protection does not work like most AVs. It does nothing in the background and is not scanning all the time. The only thing it does is intercept if an actual known mac malware starts literally executing.. I am just saying this in case Kaspersky want me to uninstall it on my main studio Mac, as that will not happen as I use the VPN as it works *perfectly* on the Mac with Little Snitch. Once again, if K won't marry nicely with those two, I can always install Avira AV Pro on the Mac (this is the Avira license I have, 2 seats for 2 years, no Prime or other unnecessary junk, just the lowest paid tier).

Again, Kaspersky will still be useful for the Rog Ally, as it's the only solution being installed on that whatsoever, and all the other mobile devices mentioned. Plus the ODIN will be my first ever Android device and I know Android needs a proper AV a lot more than IOS does. A lot of Ally/Odin users forget they are a full Windows 11 PC and a full Android PC, and think they don't need a full AV solution, which is just not true. I have always used some sort of AV even when I was using Apple exclusively, I never bought into the whole Macs don't need AV shtick!

Peace.
